| This is a legendary Heretic wad which I was really looking for. The maps are really amazing and reasonably varied, richly detailed and fun to play, but sometimes there were so much monsters, making it too hard. The weakest point is that it unfortunately does not have any custom/original music. It simply reuses the native Heretic music, which is boring to hear over again, cutting down the gaming experience, thus -0.5 points. 4.5/5 | x |

| WOW !!!! i'm at 2th level and i can tell right now this megawad is pure HERETIC AWSOMNESS. Big open areas, lot of ammo around, interesting level design. GREAT JOB !!! what are you waiting for download :D | x |

| The only good thing about this is the level design. Where it really matters - the game play - is awful. Too much reliance on infighting, levels drag on for way too long, and artificially difficult by throwing mobs at you from start to finish. Also hiding half of E3M4 from view even with a map scroll obtained is a dick move. | x |

| I see that in my original review I accidentally rated this 3 stars, don't know how that happened and I'll correct it with this one. This mapset is the reason I started mapping. Mindblowing, grandeur and majestic today as it was back when it was first released, it takes Heretic to a new level while still keeping fitting in the Heretic universe and is absolutely mandatory to try this if you're a fan of Heretic. | x |

| Mostly good. Some maps are 5/5 material, but there are also some really boring, way too long maps. | x |

| For all the people saying Heretic was easy even on 4th difficulty, mustn't remember E4M1. That level was hard as hell and took me nearly 50 tries (with saving the game very often, of course). But that was because I played in HERETIC.EXE and no source ports, so it was harder to aim, etc.
Anyway this episode was also hard but much more enjoyable (unlike E4M1, seriously). I played at fourth difficulty. 5/5 | x |

| This should be the official 6th episode of Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders. This generally picks up (story-wise) where episode 5 has left off. Bigger, better maps, even greater challenge. 5/5 no question about that. | x |

| Completely and utterly the mother of all Heretic mods, including all the originals! I guess HOCX would run really close but it has elements from other games too, not purely Heretic. Also there are no borrowed level either. Really not to miss at any cost. | x |

| The reason why this is so amazing and why everyone seems to love it so is because it's completely like original Heretic (no horrible imported/new graphics) except on steroids. All the levels are large so so emmaculately detailed. The architecture and enemy placement is PERFECT. 5/5 | x |

It seems that this maps where made just for me.

| I'd been slogging through this for quite a while, and to be honest I wasn't enjoying myself. I reached Icicle and finally gave in to the frustration and boredom. These maps drag on way too long for my liking, the difficulty was annoying (I probably should have gone down a notch, perhaps) and frankly, I don't think I really enjoy Heretic. With that in mind I'll give it 3* -Phobus | x |

| Difficulty is high, especially in the early maps where you don't have much space to fight hordes of enemies. Later, it's getting better. Anyway, it's a must-have due to the superior level design. Be sure to check out E3M4 (Herakleion), E3M6 (River of Ladon) and E3M7 (Icicle) which feature impressive architecture. It's a sightseeing tour you'll enjoy and hardly forget as a true Heretic fan. 5/5 - NightFright | x |

| Someone has spammed with low votes without leaving a review. Idiots. This is an incredible feat of level design. Screw wads like LoS and Cheowhatever, this is how good level design is done. 5/5 | x |

| Loved every bit of it. It's the best Heretic map set I've played since I played the original Heretic. The architecture and the overall presentation of the maps is excellent. And the gameplay is challenging but not incredibly frustrating. Just perfect, can't think of any other way to put it. I sincerely hope Kristus makes more Heretic maps in the future! 5/5 -Mek | x |

| An excellent Heretic mod -- If you were looking for a reason to own Heretic, search no further: this is it. The layouts flow well, the battles are challenging but always winnable without cheating, and the architecture is just gorgeous. | x |

| The difficulty isn't something you would expect from Heretic. This shit is HARD. I mean, very hard. It took a while to get used to the style and difficulty, and in the end it turned out as this great wad. I agree with the first reviewer, Heretic is no more an easy game after this wad! Stunning maps, challenging gameplay for a change and an intense fight in almost every room you enter. Recommended. 4.5 stars. - Moti | x |
