|Doominer991||In terms of gameplay, level wise: The levels are complex, but they never get too convoluted. Once you figure out where the various key-switches are it simply becomes a matter of remembering how to get there.
In terms of gameplay, enemy wise: Enjoy being fucked in the asshole with a porcupine.
In conclusion, if you like well made maps that you'll probably never get to see legitimately cause you never survive that long, this is the wad for you.||x|
|cybermind||Okay, this looks like an earlier version of Putrefier, and they really doesn't alter that much - same map layout, poor monster fighting, though this version doesn't have bad map navigation, so overall I'll rate this higher than Putrefier||x|
|Anonymous||Superb map! Manages to evoke similar atmosphere as Doom 64 without slavish obedience to D64 art-style - feels like something D64 team would have created if they had better technology at their disposal. There is some backtracking but great visuals and superb atmosphere make it more than bearable. I particularly like how you used monster spawns to nudge player in right direction - something very few maps of this size do right. 5/5||x|
|cs99cjb||Made me realise how worthless and inadequate everything I've ever done is. I turned off the light as soon as I saw it. At times you can cut the atmosphere with a knife. Jumped out of my skin at the yellow door; I haven't had a shock like that since playing Aliens TC years ago. The Doom monsters seems almost cartoonish and out of place in this moodily-lit industrial complex - the kind of place it is always raining, or would if it could in Doom. Maybe it can? Is this still Doom? It looks better than Quake.||x|
|Anonymous||As usual for an Ed Cripps map, it was amazing. Impeccable atmosphere with great architecture and textures, and it's sequel, Putrefier, is even better. My only complaint is that it was both very short and extremely easy, the only real difficulty came from a lack of health throughout the level. So it only gets 4 stars instead of 5, but if I could I'd give it a 3.5 star rating.||x|
|Anonymous||Design wise, this is simply a masterpiece. Gameplay wise it is also brilliant. I have no complaints at all, it's that good. A must play level. -TRRobin.
|maggotjoe||INCREDIBLE Love it 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||iD Software should hire Ed Cripps to make Doom 4. This, along with his sequel, Putrefier really captured the feeling of being the last, lone human on Earth/wherever you are fighting off the legions of Hell. Well, that's how they both felt to me at least. The music certainly added to the feeling of isolation. I'd give it more than five stars if I could. :D -Nems||x|
|Anonymous||WON A CACOWARD! GOOD JOB!||x|
|Anonymous||That skybox.... 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Awesomely good looking. Gameplay is passable, nothing hugely special though. It doesn't take a lot of time to finish, either. Still, 4/5.||x|
|Anonymous||The best looking map I ever played in Doom.
|Anonymous||The best looking wad I've ever played! The gameplay is just okay though (it didn't seem like the author put much thought into it), but good enough.||x|
|Anonymous||Congrats on the cacoward.
oh shit, hold on.
There we go.||x|
|Anonymous||Short and sweet, how some zdoom mods recently should have been.||x|
|Anonymous||Visually perfect, this method lacks durability and surprises.
+ The graphics are gorgeous
+ The atmosphere is great
+ The level is well built
- THE level
- No true final boss
- Nothing very exciting in the progression, the rhythm is always the same
|Anonymous||Anyone who has ZDoom NEEDS this wad.||x|
|Anonymous||No visual bugs in latest GZDoom build!
|Anonymous||This map is so good. I will say this, though; this map does not joke around. I was barely surviving on UV, so anyone looking for a nice, leisurely kill fest... should still try this. It might not be easy, but it is one of the best wads here.
Go play it, now. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Excellent detail, too easy though.||x|
|Anonymous||Fantastically good deco and ambiance with very good game play. Only criticism is that I got lost at one point hunting for a switch/door. May want to think about how to make them stand out a bit more if possible. Hope to see more from you!||x|
|Anonymous||^ too hard?? It's a great map, but its problem is that it's too easy. Maybe you played at nightmare. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||good job..but too hard..||x|
|Anonymous||Nice map, even through it's short and a little dark on my screen, but it's OK. I have some fun on it. 4.5/5 -playerlin||x|
|Anonymous||Wow, detail unlike any other wad and perfect game dynamics (perfect health/difficulty/mo nster placement). If you like detail, you will enjoy every *second* of this wad. First 5/5 I've given in years.||x|
|Anonymous||Very nice, good-looking architecture. Gameplay @ UV is not too difficult, monster placement is balanced. Parts of the level are imo a little bit too dark, this combined with invisible monsters is not original anymore nowadays. The end is disappointing because of a missing final fight. Music is well choosen. Overall: solid 4/5, so absolutely worth a try.||x|
|Anonymous||Very nice. More ZDoom maps should be like this only perhaps a bit harder. Go play Raven Crypt Zalewa.||x|
|Anonymous||Clearly Ed Cripps put a lot of effort into this level but there are some issues.
A big plus is that there is a decent weapon provided from the start so there is no tedious monster tickling that is very common in other wads. Also it provides a lot of murder opportunities (a plus too). Unfortunately the layout can be confusing at times (but sometimes monsters point you at the right direction) and the switches are so tiny. Then it ends abruptly. It deserves 3.5 but I round it down to 3. - Zalewa.
|Anonymous||Very well-done map, great atmospheric music and good flow. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||Nice level, but a little confusing in the manor of KDIZD, and no really inspiring moments.||x|
|Anonymous||A very interesting and atmosphering map. Gameplay was a bit bland, I was disappointed at the lack of a final boss. It kept me interested for a while and it was quite enjoyable, but there's still something I found nit-picky about this. Nevertheless, this should'nt be skipped. 4/5 - Moti||x|
|Anonymous||Great level! Good detailing and atmosphere, and I like the music and ruined city in the background. It's fairly linear, but it doesn't feel forced. The monsters are well placed and make for good fights in the space. Best new level I've played in a while.-GreazyShorts||x|
|Anonymous||Really great stuff. The atmosphere is top notch.||x|
|Anonymous||Very well presented map - good ambience, nice layout and great architecture and texturing. However, I got to the end and couldn't help but think "Is that it?". Having only missed one secret and two monsters, and with the gameplay being quite a breeze, the 20 minute play-time felt rather short. 4* -Phobus||x|
|Anonymous||Gorgeous design, very visceral feel to it. Good ambient music too. Gameplay was a bit predictable. Well done. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||5/5, it's great, even with merely decent gameplay. Marking 3/5 just for being easy is kinda harsh. Just my opinion.||x|
|Anonymous||The name of this wad is a misnomer: none of this wad takes place in Valhalla, but for some of you it may feel like it. This lone level takes place in a dark, dirty, industrial-tech base, using mostly new and beautiful (and very brown) textures. Gameplay is basic and pretty easy, but it's still worth a couple minutes of play. GZDoom players, use "dark" sector lighting mode. 3/5||x|
|Anonymous||great wad 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||This was kind of spooky and very intense. The structure is gorgeously done, featuring the perfect amount of detail and lots of originality. There's nothing "typical" about this industrial complex. I liked the dark, dreary lighting, too. Made the atmosphere more suspenseful. I wish it were longer, though. It felt too short :(. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||Another great wad. Too short and maybe to easy however it was visually stunning and the atmosphere was amazing. Great job! 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||As previous reviewers have stated, visually, this is a stunning level with fairly good game-play. My only gripe - although this will not detract from the overall score - is; one Ravenant does not tele-port in and thus 100% kills is not possible (UV -fast). Keep 'em comin' Ed! 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Looks awesome, yet it is not the only thing that make a level awesome. The gameplay is slow(er), not very exciting and pretty easy.
|Anonymous||Wow, this was so good that I really wanted more (doesn't happen often).||x|
|Anonymous||Simply an amazing level, with great texturing and great lighting. the The only disappointing thing about it was the length, and the difficulty. It was way to easy (due to the presence of almost every weapon), and somewhat short. It was definitely worth playing through. I hope that you continue to make maps, because this is awesome.||x|
|Anonymous||One of the best Zdoom maps I've ever played. Beautiful architecture, very detailed and had one hell of an atmosphere. The only downside, was a little too easy, even on UV. Definitely want to see more maps from you. Keep up the awesome work. 5/5 from me.||x|
|Anonymous||Pretty good, but it has a lot of door hunting and stuff like that. Great deco, bland gameplay, and boring level design. Kept me busy at least. 3.5/5||x|
|Anonymous||little Short but great level... IL||x|
|Anonymous||Beautiful map, detailed and well-design. Very good gameplay, but not too hard. 4.5/5||x|
|Anonymous||This is how you make a legendary ZDoom wad. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||The most inspiringly original ZDoom wad I've played in years. The gameplay is fun and challenging, and the atmosphere totally pulled me in. Great-looking design without parroting the styles of other maps. Impressive as hell, all around. 5/5||x|
