Best 1990's Doom WAD ever. 5/5x
Anonymous
Great map for its day, although seasoned players will find it rather easy. Needs vanilla 1.9 (not Ultimate), Chocolate-Doom with -gameversion 1.9 or -complevel 2 in Prboom+ for the red key area to work properly. x

It's good, but the textures are pretty bland at some points, and some of the areas are too open. Otherwise, its a pretty good WAD. It's worth playing just for the invisible staircase section.x

Played this the first time back in the end of the 90s. It sounds stupid but: the layout is pretty good but not well done... Overall there is this strange atmosphere which I like so much. A true classic map!x

it's okayx

Nostalgia, I remember having played this one two decades ago. Then I was impressed by the size and the truck on it's side, but it's weaker sides were the boring map layout with too many almost empty spaces, the lack of texture variation, and the @ UV quite simple gameplay (even on a slow 486/25 without a mouse). So it did not get into my directory of levels-for-replay. Rated as a 1994 map: solid 3/5 but too weak for 4/5.x

A notable 1994 WAD. It's interesting to see the early attempts at realism and the then-new special effects (even if some parts seem corny, e.g. the "swinging" door). By today's standards, the base part is kind of blah... but the entire part after the BFG room (no spoilers) manages to be oddly climactic, in fact despite the simple architecture it somehow is more exciting and creepier than today's highly-detailed scenes. x

20 years passed and this wad is still amazing as it first was.x

This map and everything in it is unnecessarily huge. Difficulty level is nothing that would trouble a seasoned player, and there's plenty of ammo although not always where you need it. Good lighting and good special effects. I wish everything were about half the size though.x

GREAT a must-play wadx

Very Good I Suggest all to give it a try Very Good for 1994.x

This is good WAD, it was one of the originals to use engine exploitation tricks and that's pretty good. That trippy Cyberdemon fight was a pretty cool effect. That part with the wall collapsing toward the end was cool and well done, but using it right toward the end kind of bothers me..x

Only the old folks from the DOOM community can truly appreciate a gem of a WAD like this one.x

Compared to its age, this stuff is so awesome that almost better than original maps =) very, very early gem, I can't even imagine, how could people make something like this in this very early stage of Doom map creating. Man, I was less than 1 year old when it was made! 1337/5 - Katamorix

As a lover of old-style maps, I can't help but appreciate this. As with most maps from this era it actually looks much more impressive in the automap. Doom editors were absolutely crap back then, and to me, that's what makes this so awesome, the author still prevailed as is he were a seasoned Doom mapper.x

One of my favorite Doom(1) wads which definitely deserves "legendary" status.x

Pretty interesting old level. I liked the fight with Cyberdemon & Barons. Also the level was easy too, didn't die once though I think I was lucky because the level was long. Played with AEOD 5.29.1. 5/5 -Doomer95x

Just tried this out. It's 2012 and I was still impressed given it's time period. Solid! 5/5x

Awesome, loved every minute of it.x

It's 2012 and this 1994 map is surprisingly still very playable!x

No, it is not utter crap. This was made in 1994, lots of wads then were crap at that time, but some were amazing for it's time and still legendary. This is the best wad of 1994, Yeah, compared to now it's not that good, but back in the day it was AMASING! Get this was if you want to have wads for vanila doom, you will enjoy it!x

Utter crap.x

I played this back in early 2011 it was interesting to say the least I am currently trying to make my own doom levels now thanks to this.x

Amazing both in gameplay and looks for its time.x

I remember playing this back in the day... wow I think I was like 9 or 10 years old when I first played doom (and this level)... The author did a great job on this one... before the time of zdoom and the people who make levels so detailed they are unplayable and look more like eye candy (thus garbage). This level is nostalgic. It also shows that in making levels we need to stick to the basics, but at the same time it had unparalleled detail for the time. 5/5x

This map puts the original E1M8 to shame. This had a much better ending feel to it, and a nice descent into hell, and back. I loved it, and I was amazed by the usage of the invisible staircase. Despite the age, **** for this in my book.x

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT. You MUST play this! 5/5x

Interesting given the time it was released. Certainly worth a mention. ~vfx

Awesome wad, lots of fun although I had to noclip to get the red key after the cyberdemon fight ;Sx
Anonymous
Simply one of the best doom levels ever conceived. Maybe some different music other than that sad e1m8 music would be better, like the track for Freedoom's map22 (before they removed all the music).x

Incredible map. Good atmosphere, adequate detail, great gameplay, and some neat tricks. You'll enjoy it :)x
Anonymous
Hehe, played it for the first time in 1994, and STILL play it today :)x

Played this for the first time today (10-Dec-2010). 5/5x

It's October 1st, 2010 and I'm eagerly awaiting to play out this wad in real life!x

You know what's awesome about this wad? The "future" date for the story is this year! Wow man, I live in sci-fi times.x
Anonymous
It has some good details to be 1994, but the design is very flat, and poor gameplay and difficulty. I do not see a special map except for some details. 3/5x

This .wad is probably the best one of 1994, its the details and tricks that make it worth playing. Clear floors, an imprisoned Cyberdemon, and well what happens with the barrels. It might not stand up to today's standards, but its worth playing!x

When I was 16 this was the coolest thing I had ever seen, and in the 15 years since then I've never seen a WAD that gave me the same feeling. 5/5 -NTx

Legendary fails to describe the nostalgia it brings to those who played it in 1994 and the simply amazing atmosphere it brings to those who have had their first experience in 2009. It truly is a treasure of the community here.x

Damn, this is more creative than a lot of the wads that were released the following years, never mind 1994. Hell, it beats some of the stuff released these days. The crystal effect, the UAC sign... just a lot of memorable moments in a year that people were still earning how to do this stuff. Legendary? Yep. 5/5 -Snakesx

Best pwad of 1994, plain and simple. (NOTE: download uac_deaz.wad if you're using a source port)x
Anonymous
Awesome indeed! 5/5!x

In a year of simple levels, this wad took a bold step into realism (and worked, too). This is one of those levels that really raised the bar in terms of detail. Plus its awesome boss battle is neat (but broken). 5/5x
Anonymous
As far as creativity goes, this wad still beats most modern releases. Legendary. 5/5x
Anonymous
If this were released today, it would be a plain-looking but decent and creative WAD. 15 years ago? Un-fucking-believabl e.x
Anonymous
Excellent old-school map, especially for the date it was released. 5/5 -Mr. Chrisx

Hah, yes! place THIS inside your cunt! It is pretty good looking and its age makes it a true masterpiece! 5/5 - Death-Rulerx

Itīs legendary considering the year it was released. A classic anyway. 5/5x

The best anything ever made.x

this wad brings back great memories of when I was dling wads all the time and dooming every night.. I still play doom now with the doomsday engine and will load this wad up tonight for crazy nostalgia. x

Brilliant atmosphere and a lot of good ideas, such as the truck, the installations in the rooms, the incisble area with the staircase and the strange "boss battle". But since the area is pretty big and tiring, I was only able to uncover half of the secrets. 4/5(Pretty Good)x

This WAD is excellent and well worth playing by any Doom fan. As old as it is, it still holds up well even against some modern maps, and it's a true classic. There is some great atmosphere and gameplay in here! Also, a note on playing in modern source ports: You may run into trouble due to some changes in handling of special tag 666 made in Ultimate Doom. Chocolate Doom users should run with -gameversion 1.9, and PrBoom users should use -complevel 2. 5/5 -Reckonerx

Great wad for its time. The zdoom patch mentioned also works in Risen3D BTW.x
Anonymous
A great classic obviously!x
Anonymous
Also download uac_deaz.zip (with 'z') which is a fix for new ports, "enabling you to play the original UAC_DEAD.WAD in its intended way with Zdoom".x
Anonymous
Top notch, would buy again.x

good...for a oldschool wad....x

The greatest masterpiece. 5/5 -Glassymanx

UAC_DEAD ftw! 5/5 -Stalker Georgex

Made Doom look unbeatable back in the day. Screw DN3 and Kwayke.x
Anonymous
This level is "legendary" and very fun and detailed(even at todays standards).Sure, some areas are a little bland, but the lighting and atmosphere make up for it and more. Also, for zdoom users, I believe there is a patch around here to fix the red key lift bug. Overall,if your a doom fan in any sense, play this before you die(or at least before you lose interest in doom).5/5x

Pretty interesting. That invisible staircase is cool.x
Anonymous
Still a fun play, with lots of great design ideas. Simple, good-looking and stylish architecture, but the bravura moment is the invisible staircase. It's not just that it's invisible, it's that it looks so cool thanks to artful design. Breathtaking. Yes, it's easy by modern standards (or even by '96 standards), but it can still keep me busy on UV with Fast Monsters. Still inspires awe. 5/5 -- Steve Duffx

Freakin legendary. Of course, for the old times. 5/5x

the ship is in a bunch of wads. this = 5x
Anonymous
For those of you who don't know, the ship in the introduction to Sonic Doom was taken directly from this wad. Exact same ship.x
Anonymous
very good looking map. and fun 2 5x

The stuff of legends.x
Anonymous
Guess I can understand how it was good back in the days ... has some nice ideas and features - that collapsing tunnel just into the 'Exit' door was pretty cool, and spaceship at the end was awesome!x
Anonymous
That bug exists in (I think) all modern source ports. However I've just authored a patch for prboom to fix it.x
Anonymous
Bug with zdoom at the end... the cyb platform wont go down and you need to noclip the red key. Still a very good map after all.x
Anonymous
Very old wad, but original and with nice features...x
Anonymous
This is truely a legendary PWAD. I remember how incredible the design was back then. It was incredible. ESPECIALLY the then-new invisible staircase (seemed impossible then!!). I remember how I used to actually be able to imagine myself going through the UAC base back in the day only to find it infested with monsters... really felt like you were there. A MUST play for the nostalgic value!!x
Anonymous
An enjoyable ride that takes you through a *gasp* monster infested tech base, deep dark caverns with a marble section not to be soon forgotten, and finally a launchpad with a small spaceship. During the ride you are treated to a number of - at that time - unique, and mostly neat visual effects. I've played many a map in my days with clear influences from this one. The final verdict? It's aged considerably, but still ranks as influential. Overall worthwhile. --4/5x
Anonymous
Really good... the invisible sector thing, I'll have to try in my own wad! :)x
Anonymous
Try some of the other wads made around this era and you'll understand why this level was so great! Too bad that I didn't get to play it "in the day".x
Anonymous
One of the greatest of the earlier levels. play this now!!!x
Anonymous
This WAD is "legendary" in the truest sense of the word. Nowadays it mostly looks like crap since it was one of the earliest WADs released. Back In The Day, though, this was one the most famous PWADs around for its early use of "realistic" environments, its special effects including the then-new invisible staircase and the weird Cyberdemon fight, etc etc. Recommended if for nothing else than to give a sense of history.x
