Title: Artica
Filename: levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/artica.zip
Size: 140.6 KB
Date: 12/17/98
Author: Cyberdemon (Mike Watson)
Description: My best work ever, I'd have to say. I spent a good amount of time on lighting(or at least a lot of thought heh), architecture(something Dismemberment wasn't too strong in)and *gasp* texture alignment. The wad is also in two maps becuase WadEd decided that I shouldn't be able add the final area, so it's in a second map. It works out though, because the final area was going to be sealed off from the rest of the map anyway.
Credits: id Software for their wonderful game which, without, I'd probably have higher grades in school ;) and TeamTNT for the BOOM engine. Also Nick Baker and the Surge Team for the snow graphics and Eugen Woiwod for the sky(which is a photograph I believe) ===============================================================
Base: New level stolen from GothicDM 2 and graphics from Overload(heh, that's a joke for you slow guys again hehe).
Build time: I actually had the start area about a month ago, I've only been working on it consistantly for about two weeks(give or take).
Editor(s) used: WadED, WadAuthor, CLED, NWT and WARM
Bugs: Probably texture misalignment if you really, really look(harder then I did even)but only because I missed it(oh man, did I just say that?)

cool mapx
No exit in map 2 !x
Map01 is a solid, fun level set in an icy castle/dungeon. The design is simple and there's a fair amount of action, although it feels like a set of rooms one after the other, rather than a fluid whole. Minus a star for having slippery ice; a platform game cliche from the 1980s. There's one puzzle that's fiddly, and the cyberdemon pathway/maze is clever but very frustrating. Map02 is horrible - a small spider mastermind arena on slippery ice.x
Legendary my ass, this is NOT cool. 3/2/07x
who beat it with 2 helth left good map i thaut i was screwd for shure! 4/5 x
Boring and plain.x
This one is much better than Artica 4, and more interesting. Cyb really did a good job on this one. 4.5/5. --Wooliex
