Description: This is a compilation of the WADs entered in NiGHTMARE's third speedmapping exercise. Participants were given 100 minutes to create a Doom 2 level on a certain theme. This week's theme was to design a tribute to (not a remake of) participants' favourite level in either Doom 1 (excluding episode 1 (although someone broke this rule), e2m8 and e3m8) or Doom 2 (excluding map01, map07, map30, map31 and map32).

I liked the mapless crate maze until I discovered I needed SIX KEYS to reach the exit. Half that, and half the map, and it'd be fun. Map02 is small but true to its' parent. Map03 has an insane amount of monsters, very difficult. Map04 is just the original with poor detail, and a stupid 1994-style surprise at the end. Map05 is quite enjoyable, best of a bad bunch. I like the concept of Map06 but it's way too easy. 2/5 for this lot.x

Level one is a tribute to the crate maze in E2M2; but it's literally a giant crate maze (with the automap turned off!) with gameplay no more advanced than 3D Monster Maze on the ZX81. What am I supposed to do, map it on grid paper? Level two is much better, it's like a decent (but very small) 1994 level. Level three is the best, it's manic; level four isn't bad, level five is competent but dull, level six is a novelty.x
