    I took out alot of pointless meat all together on all difficulties. It really doesn't make UV less hard just less tedious. Once I get done with the rebalanced version I'll send you the link and release It when Episode 3 Is done.

    Updated the link with a significantly smaller file (2.25mb vs almost 22). @Bushpig2dope I feel you. I am pretty sure I will do a lot of retexturing later. I just have big troubles... finding the textures that click with me. Do you find the brick area the worst, or is there some other place? There is a secret that rewards you with the ability to kill them significantly quicker (hint, the rocket ammo), as well as secrets that can save you time/ammo on pinkies, but perhaps I should make a rocket launcher available without a secret? I wanted to reward exploration of the map, but perhaps it becomes too tedious without finding it.

    k8VaVoom: no good thing ever dies!

    a note to myself: when i discover some interesting option in gcc manual, it is not a good reason to immediately put it into build scripts. for some reason i turned on gcc vectoriser, and broke its assumptions about data alignment. it worked by a chance, but segfaulted badly on some data. it seems that this is what made timidity playback on windows non-working. hopefully next public release will feature working timidity again. anyway, please note that you can download ogg/vorbis soundtrack using the link in the first post, which sounds far better than timidity on windows. as for some progress report -- i am working hard on new 3d floor implementation, and reworked texture/surface manager. it now supports midtex wrapping, UDMF midtex offsets, UDMF texture scaling, etc. not all bugs are ironed out yet, but it mostly works, so if nothing would go terribly wrong, expect a new public build soon.

    What engine should I target?

    I already know this, but a sizeable chunk of features have been backported to those two engines (ZDaemon much more so) and they are decently powerful now, i also know that portals and 3D floors also work in Hexen Format as i have used them myself. I just said it that way to make it simpler to understand (I'm not sure if the OP is a starter on this kind of thing so just in case) DECORATE and TEXTURES is where support does fall off though, but i was talking about just the map format and nothing else.

    For sure, the Slaughterfest series and the Skillsaw wad trilogy (Valiant, Ancient Aliens and Lunatic); UAC Ultra, and any (G)ZDoom wads that require/recommend jumping/crouching.

    This map is great. I like it. Good work on this map. It's very challenging even on I'm too young to die. Those stupid lost souls kept blocking my rockets and killing me. I also got stuck between the walls. But like the post says, I'm looking for a tower of Babel remake map in which you climb onto to the top of tower to make it look like a real tower.

    Beautiful! You discovered the power of the black/white mode. ^^ Strangely, I didn't feel the need for an Invulnerability Sphere in ep.2 at all, not even during the boss battle. I guess it's fair if you get a bit more help in the first episode before the game stops taking you by the hand and starts throwing everything at you it got. I am looking forward to checking the rebalanced version. What I didn't check so far: Did you put even more enemies on higher difficulties? And if so, did you add more ammo to compensate? I am asking since I wonder how it would be on UV with 20-50% more monsters with the same ammo available as for HNTR. Considering I already had ammo issues on HNTR...

    Well I played the level. I think aesthetically it was rather bland and ugly. Ugly is a harsh word but sometimes it kinda was. Gameplay was alright but shotgunning so many hellknights and cacos was kinda ehh

    Not bad at all. Lot's of areas to explore, some moderate to tough challenges and a very tech-base-atmosphere. Over all, a very enjoyable mapset to play.

    I also found the buildings sort of odd. It's the only image to my knowledge where the camera is angled upwards at something, maybe that's got something to do with it. There's also only so many fullscreen artworks in the game that you (I, at least) rarely see some of them and that makes them feel a little disjoint anyway. The deimos above hell screen is one I totally forgot about. Which makes me wonder, why no post-episode artwork for KDITD? The text definitely does a nice setup for one, yet it isn't there, which I think further adds to the strangeness of the other two.

Well, in 5 hours I don't think I can do this, especially in constant stress because of the contest itself - speedmapping :D Regarding all the recommendations, I completely agree, though since the creation of this wad in 5 hours - I didn’t change it at all, so that everything was fair ;) So I would definitely change this map in a much better way. For example, Fear Factor, which I successfully released in this section and which was a remake of one of my very old wads 💪👀
  20. if it has "no frames" that means that the sprite defined for the spawn state does not exist. Double check that there are no typos and that the sprite actually is in your WAD or PK3.

  23. I am now through the second episode and really, really like it so far. I love how tight all the maps are but especially in episode 2 the progression of the maps is just awesome. Fun, a bit tricky but not too contrived that it gets annoying. Maybe it's because I haven't played Heretic in literally ages, but I have a shit ton of fun so far. Just wanted to comment real quick, before the thread is buried in other stuff and / or this will be a necro post.
