    Blake Stone.. On The Move..

    mewse

That Blake Stone TC mentioned a couple days ago has moved off Geocities to it's new home at Slipgate.org. Salazar's such a nice guy.

Levels aren't that difficult to do with the Doom editor open on one computer and Maped open on the other computer. The levels with large areas are the hardest to do, while the levels with lots of smaller rooms are quite easy. The levels are probably going to take sometime and are the remaining bulk of the work. But hey, I'll do my best to get it done.

ooh, hi there mr. blake stone person! i was thinking about the levels, and if i could create one (which shouldn't be too too hard), would you be interested in using an automatic converter proggie to make the doom levels from the blake ones? it would save you trouble :). if you are interested, i'll look at doing it; blake maps are the same format as wolf ones right?

If you can come up with a converter that would be cool, even if it only converts the structure. The maps are pretty much the same format as Wolf, but a few changes for the barriers, scientist messages, etc. But really those don't need to be converted since I have to do them in Fraggle Script anyway.

    Hey, Dark!

Don't know if you remember me, but I emailed you shortly after your first announcement of the Blake TC, asking about how you were extracting the graphics. I haven't done anything with my TC since some time in March, but I have levels 1 thru 7 pretty much done (no sprites or enemies, some keys) and level 8 and first secret roughed out. If you're interested, you're welcome to them. 'Course, there's a few problems.

First, I was inspired by Laz Rojas' GREAT TC WolfenDOOM. But, I wanted to do it MY way. I always felt that I was going to bash my head in on the low ceilings and light fixtures. So, I scaled it a little differently; the textures are 64x80 instead of 64x64, and the doors are 64x70 with a 10 unit header.

The second problem is that my naming convention for the patches and textures is different from yours. (suprise, suprise) If all you have so far is what you showed us (most of level 1) it wouldn't be TOO terrible to just use my stuff.

The third problem is that I did the levels for Doom. I can convert them to Doom ][, or you can. Not really a problem.

The last problem that pops into my mind is the biggie. The odds against you and I creating the same PLAYPAL are astronomical. (besides, I'm STILL not satisfied with what I have.) As I'm sure you know, that would mean reimporting all the graphics that do not match the palette that you decide to use.

If you think that this would still save you some work, let me know. esayeek, I don't mean to steal your thunder, it's just that I already have this much done. Hell, there's still 50 odd levels to complete. That's plenty of work for everybody.

its cool, there's no thunder to steal ;) :(.

And anyway, I must report back that school, which started for me on Wednesday, is too much of a problem. I will not be able to help out with the blake stone tc. Sorry :(

Bah, this peek demo doesn't work on my 600mhZ Duron, 256 Mb RAM, Geforce 2 MX computer.
It claims that it's missing a texture patch. I'm running under Windows 98 SE and I'm using Legacy v. 1.4

Are you running with the Doom II IWAD? I was able to re-create the error using the Ultimate Doom IWAD.

So, how do you trigger it?
So far, I'm only used to launch one of the doom games adding the new wads to the commandline parameters - some of the ports have nifty launchers that make that a lot easier, but in Legacy, I don't see any other method of firing up another wad other than adding it as an IWAD and selecting it.
