    EDGE Tutorial

    Mordeth

Due to popular demand, a first set of EDGE level editing tutorials have been released at the EDGE site. This archive in HTML format deals with creating a 3D bridge (the real stuff, not the Keranen-style trick), 3D liquid under the bridge and lastly a second 3D bridge on top of the first one. That's a lot of bridges :) It's been illustrated and all, and the editor used is DOOMCad v6.1 but I'm sure any half-way decent editor will do as well. If you've been wondering how to implement the new features of this source port now's your chance!

Hey those tutorials were very informative. Plus, I use DoomCad, so it's nice to see that editing with DoomCad is not dead.

QDOOM was done about 98% with DOOMCad 5.1. I like it. I use other editors for special editing, like Wad Author for making really short linedefs, editing raw flags of a line, etc.

Actually, technically "DOOMCAD" should be all in capitals. Really.

Yes, I know that's what it says, I'm just saying that technically speaking, CAD should be all in capitals. It doesn't bother me, really, just like writing "Skull Tag" as "Skulltag" doesn't bother me. Doesn't bother me one bit! Not at all! Doesn't bother me! I DON'T MIND! SERIOUSLY! I DON'T CARE! IT'S ALL THE SAME TO ME! I COULDN'T CARE LESS!!! IT DOESN'T MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!

    Really. Don't care.

It actually should be DooMCAD, but that CAD has to be all in caps, since it's short for "Computer Aided Drawing", like most of you should know;)

This feels like a very important matter, so let's make clear: It all depends on what 'Cad' in DOOMCad stands for. 'cad' is (according to my dictionary) a real word (translations into Swedish: bracka, knöl, lymmel), let's just assume that this is what the author of DOOMCad meant. /Erik

Trust me, the CAD in DOOMCAD stands for "Computer Aided Drawing". Mainly because it seems to be heavily based on AutoCAD, which is a draing utility top technical drawers use.

damn....once again, you managed to find something utterly useless to argue about. Sounds like you all could use a nice new life.

You know, K-Mart is selling brand new lives, grab one cheap for about $19.99

CAD is indeed an abbreviation. But, Tawney, are you sure it's for Computer Aided Drawing? I would replace Drawing with Design. However I cannot find the motivation within me to actually check. Can anyone verify this? I need verification. Verify away. Right now. Anyone. Anyone at all.

There's this editor called DOOMCad. A post on Doomworld brought in a load of frads, Who couldn't decide whether it was cad or CAD. Everyone else though that this is all rather sad...

What do you mean, couldn't decide? I for one have certainly decided. CAD on, baby.

From what I know, CAD stands for Computer Aided Drafting. I have friends who've taken classes on it and they agree.
