    Misfortune

    Julian

Lightning Hunter needs your help. He has already completed 11 levels of his upcoming TC "Hell's Curse" but he still needs gfx and 3D artists, for menus, textures and md2 models, and an HTML coder to help him setup a page. To be part of the team, click here.

I think I can help you. Yes, making some new monsters for your project (new sprites and behaviors for them). I have good ideas, and yes, I CAN do them. The only condition that I have is to make the mod for the traditional DOOM2.exe, because I'm pretty good with Dehacked, and I don't have idea of how to make mods for the diferents source ports, I know that they look better, but anyway... If you want my help, you can count on me.

Heh, I think this project is a waste of my time and everyone elses. Tt will not go through. I don't see any screenshots, and the plan does not seem to give me any enthusiasm at all. More boring bullshit!

Alien Vandetta was ok, nothing more. I want to see a real modification! TheRequiem, let's make Requiem 2!!!

    haha

I knew there had to be something wrong with crosswinds.net!! Does any one know of a good free place i can upload my files too? It looks like crosswinds does not like me uploading files without a web page :)

Oh, and thanks vegeta! actually, I don't really want a ton of new enemies, I was actually thinking about a new boss at the end of the game. Maybe a new enemy more hellish and nasty than the cyber demon. And about 4 times as many hit points :) Ill give you a little more detail later.

Diabolic, actually, I already PLAN on making 32 levels. that part WILL go through :) and also, I already stated earlier that this is not a mod. It is just a new 32 level wad kind of like the final Doom wads and Memento Mori. I don't plan on making loads of new weapons and monsters. And besides, I just got a e-mail from someone that will make a web page for the project. This is not going to be a huge project, at first it was going to be just my own 32 new levels, then I thought it would be cool to have a little web site for it. Oh, and the guy that made the Hell Revealed menu might make a menu for my project. He said that he is kind of busy and it will take him a while to get around to it, but he did say he will do it.

Besides, If no one decides to help me on this project, I will still go ahead and make all 32 levels with what I got and announce when it is done.

I don't like clueless people. 32 levels might be 32 levels but I can just buy a cd and get about 6000. Unless it's something nice and never done before like older TC"s or "Mega Wads". I don't want to hear about it! Period.

I could help. That is...if you like Maps that run extretemly slow due to detail and complexity and take full advantage of the TEKGREN textures. :)

well, the levels are pretty unique that I am making Diabolic, and I AM trying to get screenshots up! it seems like every time I upload them somewhere, the place goes poop on me. :) Ill try uploading them at angelfire.com. And by the way, if this is wasting your time Diabolic, then just ignore all this!

By the way, why exactly do so many people think that new add-ons need to have new monsters and weapons? What exactly is wrong with the original ones?

I agree... I don't see why people need to make new Monsters and weapons...I think the old ones work just fine.. Besides I have enough trouble just getting my maps finished and making sure they look good..I would never have the time to make new monsters and weapons...

Diabolic, I actually wouldn't mind doing another old school project for Doom II like Requiem. Im up for anything like that. Lets talk with MTM and our dumbass rest of the crew and discuss making a Requiem II instead of waiting for Doom 3 to release. Im bored out of my mind, heh. Aren't you?

Hey, that picture looks like a burnt cake with red crusty frosting. But not bad for a rookie.

I agree with that as well. When I started that I had another doom2 in mind. I still have the same goal in mind, but I also want to make some new ideas for levels that will make people go "oooh! aaaah!" :) I might only use a new end boss at the end of these 32 levels if someone like Vegeta will make a really good one. One thing I WILL not do in this project is change any of the original monsters, weapons, or sounds. Here is a list of things I would like to accomplish in this project:

*32 unique levels with old original textures as well as new good textures

    *hopefully a new menu

*some new music for the levels

*MAYBE a new boss at the end of the project

*hopefully a small simple web site for the project so at least people can know how long the project will take or if I died or something :)

lol, actually that frosting on that burnt cake is supposed to be lava, and the cake itself is supposed to be a volcano... You have to be in the level for yourself to see all the rest of the volcano room. See those tall spires off in the distance with those monsters on them? There are spires like that surrounding the entire room. Its cool to look at :)

also, I guess you could consider me a rookie when it comes to doomworld, but I am not really a rookie any more at creating levels. I started these levels about a year ago and have been learning a lot since. I have only been working on them on and off though, but from now on it wont take me another year to finish 11 more levels :)
I have gone back hundreds of times to add more detail, better lightning, and to align textures in the first few maps I made in these 11 levels. I even practically reshaped the entire first level.

I was just kidding around. The textures could use some work but so far so good as I can see. I wouldnt question Diabolic thoe, he has been making levels for Doom since the month after it came out. Yah, but hes still a dumbass.

The following is really a plug, but it may help you if you're after textures:

If you play more recent FPS games, you'll notice that they tend to have lots of similar textures (what I call a "texture theme". Doom 2 had a few texture themes (METALxx and TEKGRENxx for example), but even these weren't that big.

I'm trying to fix that with a series of small texture packs each based around a texture theme. So far there are only two, gray and silver, but more will be added over time. The next one will be METAL2 ("metal tech") based textures, and there will be lots of them :)

And yes, I will do requests (as long as it isn't something incredibly complicated or that would take ages to do).

some of my levels use texture themes. the 11th level is a stone themed map. most of the map is grey and black textures that give a creepy feeling. The level takes place in a Mansion. every once in a while you will see a bright texture like orange that makes the level look almost holloween themed. So far level 11 that I have made is my favorite when it comes to the theme. Here is a screenshot of the front of the mansion. you can view it here:

Give me a fucken break. Requiem 2??? You got to be out of your mind! We will need a shitload of people to conduct something like that and if you havn't noticed... the original Requiem team had about 20. In oblivion HQ we have about 4 people with old Doom level editing skills so that would take us about 14 months to finish a megawad that will change the Doom gaming experience.

It's a good idea but it will take a lot of energy. Oh well, someone e-mail Doomworld and I'll try and contact some old friends and see what we can work out. In the mean time... get lives. ROFL

does any one in here still play doom using the old doom2.exe file? do you use WinDoom, zdoom, or what? I tried running my levels in the old doom2.exe just now and they dont look good. In the volcano level I get the hall of mirror effect in the big volcano room because it is too big for the old doom2.exe to handle. There are walls missing here and there in the levels as well. In all of the other ports of doom it looks perfectly fine though.

I use doom2.exe for everything that doesn't require a port. If you get hom you should simply state in the txt file that it requires a boom compatible port (or cut down on detail).

I figured it had something to do with the old doom2.exe. I definately wont cut back on detail so I guess people will just have to use a Boom compatable port :)

    Hi, Lightning Hunter.

I managed somehow to download your zip file. I'd say the shots are a little bit under-detailed but that doesn't mean they're bad. It takes quite a long time to learn mapping and I'm still learning myself.

You *are* doing good work, and I hope you continue. Keep it up. Large projects these days tend to die out before they're finished, which is why some of these people are cynical.

My advice is to do as much as possible. If somehow it reaches the point where you can't finish it, release what you have. Take a break, then try something different later.

It's a long process to learn detail and so forth. I'll help you out by kicking your butt every time you think of quitting :)
