    "Call Of Ktulu = E2M2"

I don't know how or why your brother said that these two songs are similar, but when I listen to the E2M2 song again... the guitar solo KIND OF sounds like Ktulu.

Ktulu's solo is waaaaaaay cooler though heheheh.

How about reading the damned posts?? The picture is from an old Advanced Dungeons and Dragons manual {players handbook}. The monster in the picture is a Beholder Kin, and the man running is a Cleric. Nuff' said damnit.

Ok you fuckfaces, I am the biggest Metallica fan around, (aptly named). so let me tell you, e1m1, is NOT Master of Puppets. I know how to play the friggin song and there are so many more notes and shit in there that only one tiny section of the E1M1 midi even resembles Master of Puppets. not to mention that MoP has an interlude, and E1M1 just has a mini-solo every 5 seconds(exaderated). the song MAY have been made with master of puppets in mind, but most likely unwittiedly and unintentional. all the doom midis are original out of the creators mind, and were not based on anything. and about E2M2, wtf? how in the name of Bob Dobes does that resemble Ktulu!?!

E1M1 and Master of Puppets are both based on a 12 bar blues riff that is almost as old as time itself. In fact if you listen carefully to Metallica's music you'll find they reused a *lot* of old standard blues riffs. They just sped 'em up, added distortion, tacked on barking vocals, hyperdrive drumbeats and wala!

Ok, first of all, E1M1 DOES resemble 'Tallica's "Master Of Puppets" like probably about 100 other songs out there. But there are loads of songs in both Doom and Doom II that are in some way copied from existing songs (usually Bobby has taken the main riff and then his built the song around it, adding stuff... so DooMetallicA, stop bitching around saying E1M1 isn't Mop because it hasn't got interludes etc, because Bobby has NEVER copied an entire existing song, he has just taken bits from them. These are the songs I've identified so far:

E1M4: Has 2 riffs taken from Pantera's "Rise" from the album "Vulgar Display Of Power"

E2M1: it is said to be a spinoff of AC/DC's "Big Gun" (on some Doom FAQ)

E3M1: is Pantera again, main riff from "Mouth For War", album is again "Vulgar..."

E3M3: its main riff is from a Slayer song whose name I can't remember...

Also, Doom II has songs that have been ripped from: two Alice In Chains songs (Barrels Of Fun is Alice's "Them Bones" from "Dirt", and some other song is "Angry Chair", also from "Dirt"), a Pantera song (main riff from "This Love" from "Vulgar..." I can't remember the Doom songs name or level, though :P), one song has the drum intro (!) copied from Slayer's "South Of Heaven"... the list goes on... some wonder no one has ever sued Bobby Prince :)

I'll post a complete list of ripped Doom songs tomorrow once I get home and have a look at 'em with Wintex.

Oh, wow! Mr. President _himself_ here didn't call me bitch face!

To the others, Fredrik et al: sorry guys, I didn't see all the posts :) I think there still are more songs Bobby has ripped... have to check that...

E3M3 sounds EXACTLY like Behind the crooked cross.. I remember hearing the song a long time ago on the radio and thinking it was the one from doom.. It's amazing how many bands BP managed to rip off, if all of the bands thrown on here are accurate.. I guess he never figured Doom would get as big as it got, or that anyone would really notice.

Also, Master of Puppets is a 12 bar blues song, except sped up? How do you figure? It's not even in the right time signature for it (It shifts between 5/8 time and something else).. You obviously don't know anything about music or have never listened to the song if you'd say something as moronic as that. So don't be ignorant.

Also, I'd like to know what songs they re-used 'standard blues riffs' in (simply sped up with 'tacked on barking' vocals ofcourse, hahah). Not that I'm one to defend metallica or anything, but people shouldn't speak of things they know nothing about. It just makes everyone else that much stupider for reading it.

Some of the DOOM tracks are identical, others are merely inspired. The E3M3 music for instance is *identical* to Behind the Crooked Cross, while the E1M1 music is *inspired* by Master of Puppets. It doesn't take an idiot to figure that out.

If you want to see how identical some of them are, look for MIDI's of Behind the Crooked Cross, This Love and Angry Chair...

Heh you can play E1M1 on the 6th (E) string so easily:

    E 0-0-12-0-0-10-0-0-8-0-0-6h8-

    E 0-0-12-0-0-10-0-0-8-0-0-6~--

    etc.

The Master of Puppets' intro is >KINDA< like that but it's way more complex. You'd have to play it on the E and A strings.

MY point? "At Doom's Gate" was most probably inspired by Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" but is it NOT the same song. Master Of Puppest does NOT have any riffs similar to At Doom's Gate AT ALL. When I mean similar, I mean "sounds exactly the same". Like someone mentioned earlier, the playing style is the same, but it's not the exact same riff and no parts of Master Of Puppets was used in At Doom's Gate AT ALL. kthxbye1

Hehe I was going to suggest somebody tried to maintain a list of 'inspired' tracks for doom; but having read up and seeing that fredrik has indeed started one, I will instead simply state that I think its a good idea :)

all the doom midis are original out of the creators mind, and were not based on anything.
    *ahem* blind faith...

I think stphrz is right about the 12-bar blues thing.. I'm no metallica fan but I got hold of 'master of puppets' and listened to it repeatedly and compared it to e1m1, and could only sense the slightest resemblance.

Anyway that picture is bloody lovely :) I wish I had the time to sit down and create something as beautiful as that.

    heh.

Anyone who says mop gets closest to e1m1, listen to Behind the Crooked cross EXACTLY 01:08 into the song.

That doesn't really make sense to me Maonth, if I was an artist and someone stole my song and improved it I'd definitely sue.
