    ZDoom Stuff

    Linguica

The ZDoom Homepage has a progress report on ZDoom 1.23, the big news of which is that Randy Heit has overhauled the way the engine differentiates between Things, which has paved the way for more and better camera objects, as well as preliminary support for Heretic and Hexen. He's also switched the Windows version of ZDoom from MIDAS to FMOD, with some sound improvements being added as a result.

I'm realy excited that zdoom will support heretic and hexen. I always wanted to see the heretic levels in a hires mode. Thank you randy!

Will ZDoom be an appropriate name anymore? Shouldn't it be something new now that it has Heretic/Hexen support? I think Zid is a good idea for a new name :)

I think ZDoom will still be an appropriate name even with Heretic and Hexen support as all the games use the DOOM engine. The only other DOOM engine game that won't be supported is Strife. That's disappointing though as Strife is great although short game.

Zid, what a qool name. and it's very original. It isn't any more appropriate as Z-DooM really but hell, it sounds l337!

zid would be a somewhat more appropriate name, though it is still neglecting the fact that heretic and hexen are RAVEN games :) I'm not saying I could think of a better name though, but o well.

actually what i'm more excited about is the MP3 and IT 2.25 support. I've been wanting this for quite a while now. And camera paths. Now we will probably see some decent cutscenes.
