    Wintex Sound Crash

I'm using Windows XP at the momenet. I had the problem on 98 many years ago too. As for Wintex over XWE, I trust it more to be honest. XWE is ok, but I've found the interface to be rubbish. In Wintex, I can at least hold the down key down and scroll through sprites or something visually, wheras in XWE, you "must" click them, you can't just scroll or hold down, another annoyance. Wintexs' ability to screw things up into a LMP file sucks. Anyone able to get me in contact with Olivier Monatuy. EDIT: IT'S FIXED! FOR NO REASON IT'S NOW FIXED. I feel so happy again, now I can continue making mods. Thanks for the help guys =)

    Wintex Sound Crash

Hi guys. I had this problem years ago but can't remember how to fix it. Every time I try to play a sound or select a sound in Wintex [1], Wintex orashes and gives me the option to close or ignore [2]. Ignoring it only tells me there's a protection fault in LBWINTEX.DLL [3]. Anyone able to help? UPDATE: It also does it when trying to create a new entry, regardless of what it is. ANOTHER UPDATE: Now it's telling me I've got too many WADS open!? What the hell Wintex? I tried installing a copy of Wintex 5.0 in a different directory, but it's saying the same thing [1].
  4. I wish, although Feds in America get twice the pay as ones in Australia, plus they can't really use their guns here, so with severely reduced pay plus no legal use for a sidearm, it's not worth the risk and life. I only do work in Security, was thinking of joining the AFP and becoming a Federal Agent at some point, but it doesn't look too promising. One day though...
  5. With any luck, the Orange beretta should be here tomorrow =D
  6. Yeah, I tried that, although my browser would go blank and just sit there, same thing went for replying in other threads, although it's working now. I went outside, and took some quick shots in the light before the feds showed up for me having a "highly lethal and convertible replica shotgun" on my property. 7. Ok here we go. Sorry for the bad quality. Also note, I have produced a 3d model of the Dakota, images of it can be seen in my DeviantART gallery -> http://stormware.deviantart.com/gallery I can release it freely if you guys want it. http://img187.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0006bk4.jpg Typical First-person perspective. http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0005fv1.jpg Stock and grip. http://img8.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0008lh9.jpg Under the stock and grip. the grip is fairly squarish, but the stick is nice and round. http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0006vv3.jpg Front of the shotgun. http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0007ek1.jpg If you want a particular angle or shot, let me know. Sorry about the bad quality. Although if you can hang on for a few more hours, I can get ahold of a better camera and take some MUCH clearer better quality shots. I also will probably go outside tomorrow when it's bright with natural light and get some good pics. Don't forget to check my last thread a few threads down, which has some pics of the newer Dakota. It's technically the same shape. I'm going outside to take more photographs. I'll post them in a few minutes, and they're likely to be a lot better than this lot was.
  8. Sure thing mate =) Give me a few moments and stay put, I'll have some photos done.

What is better? PSX or PC version.

Wicked, thanks for the link. I was paranoid I may have to load up doom on BLEEM and record it myself ><

What is better? PSX or PC version.

Ah Doom for the PSX was pretty basic. I remember playing a Doom 2 demo from a demo disc a long time ago, it had wicked music. Any way to nick the non-midi soundtrack from the PSX version?

An Explanation of the making of the DOOM Monsters

On Romeros image gallery, he shows a picture by Julie Bell with the Cyberdemon appearing more like a psycho bull on steroids than a "Cyberdemon". Perhaps they just wanted to give DOOM its' creative look instead of the usual "red guy with horns" cliche appearence.

How Did ID make sprites for doom & doom2?

Quoted from an article on Gamasutra: The models are placed on a revolving tray where they are secured to the base. There are eight pegs in the tray that represent the eight points of view that are needed by the game engine to render the creatures. Next, the models are animated frame by frame by moving the model and then rotating it to each specific vantage point the engine uses to display it. The images are digitized by a video camera hooked up to the NeXT machine. When each frame is captured, it is imported over the network into a PC running Electronic Arts’ Dpaint, where the photographic source is translated into the resolution of the game. The images are drawn at full brightness, and the game engine varies the contrast for light sourcing. Gregor Punchatz created a setup that would easily allow the results to be digitized. See the article here -> http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21405
  13. Hi again guys. I couldn't seem to post in my last thread, so I selected the "DUMB" icon and am posting a new one. Here are some photos of the original Tootsietoy Dakota shotgun that John Romero and John Carmack used in Doom, instead of the cheap modern plastic piece of crap that I had in the last thread. I also plan to get some photos of the original doom pistol, and the chainsaw. I can get my hands on an Eager Beaver, and as for the pistol, I asked John Romero on Yahoo Messenger the other day about it, he said it was a bright orange pistol they recoloured to black. I found the same one and it's on the way in the mail right now (Looks like a bright orange Beretta M92?) Note the more intimidating body-shot since the last one sucked. Enjoy. http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0017gd8.jpg There it is, the wicked Tootsietoy Dakota. http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0012yl5.jpg Sadly I can't actually take "replica" shotguns to work. http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0003dx8.jpg Idling http://img12.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0003tj7.jpg Proceeding to Pump (Sorry for the darkness and awfulness of these shots, our house is incredibly dark down here in Australia, what with electricity on the way and all. http://img12.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0004oy4.jpg Pointing up, very dark shot... could sure do with that electricity you guys have over there. http://img12.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0005yn7.jpg Pumping (The pump doesn't quite work on this one), another dark shot... Hey Edison, how about sharing some of those light bulbs eh!? http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0007op2.jpg Here's two Dakotas sitting on my table. The top one is the early Doom-era one, and the bottom one is the brand new modern one. There's nothing else of interest there though except for my incredibly sexy aviator sunglasses. http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsci0008rt6.jpg Close up of both shotguns. The top one being the doom-era one, is made of strong thick black shiny plastic, and feels bigger/fatter and way more solid than the new one (they don't make them like they used to). The bottom one is brand new, and was still in the packaging when I got it. It is made of that really really thin plastic that snaps really easily and has some ugly engravings on it. It also isn't as shiny as the old one despite being new. The very bottom item is those sexy sunglasses again. If we ever get electricity in Australia and some good lighting conditions, I'll get a white-screen and take some photos of the shotguns posed as close as I can to the original (if someone would be kind enough to provide those sprites) and then release them in high quality, maybe someone can put them in a .WAD someday. I would if I had my computer, but the seagate disk died after two weeks =(

Yeah, it was near the top, so I too picked the GermaDUWERDESTEINEKRANKENSCHWESTERBRAUCHEN!
  15. That quote sounds very familier. Are you poking fun at Barry Burtons quote from Resident Evil 1 where he gives Jill a set of Acid rounds and says "They're really powerful... especially against living things."?
