    Double Shotgun Doom?

They should just use Timidity and FreePats for the music. xDescent, xRott, xDuke, xHeretic, and xHexen all use it. Shouldn't be too bad on file size.

    More Doom 3 News

I'm being told by several people that it's been sighted on store shelves in Vancouver, BC. I'm going to investigate sometime today if I can get a few minutes off work. Yes, I asked if it was just promotional display boxes. Edit: Nope, false alarm. Sorry. But I now have a peuter Mancubus. His name is Gerald.

    The /newstuff Chronicles #102

MM and AV are amazing... Definitely worthy of being played alongside Plutonia or TNT. Thanks, -Dan

    The /newstuff Chronicles #102

I spend quite a bit of time playing Doom/Doom2/Final Doom in Co-Op, and after a few years of this (I'm not a fequent gamer) it's starting to get a little repetative. Does anyone have any good Megawad suggestions that play well in Co-Op? -Dan

    Doom 3 Info From Quakecon

Obviously they're going for nostalgia with only four people in DM. Probably won't even have respawning items. -Dan

    Carmack On Shadows

Ebola, as has been pointed out before, various light sources cast various shadows. Ever notice the difference of shadows between sunlight, incadescent lightbulbs, and flourescent lightbulbs? This is similar as to what's going on in the screenshot. Look carefully at the shadows cast by the other actors, note the differences. It just so happens that the scientist guy has a sharp, bright light to his left, creating that crisp, dark shadow. -Dan

    Carmack On Shadows

Now this is where Doom 3 really shines. The tricks that JC is pulling to get the high poly feel have all been done before, just in seperate locations, but it's the lighting and sound engines that are really going to blow away the competition. No one has done anything of this quality before. I can hardly wait... Screw getting dual clawhammers, I'd go single processor and drop the extra cash into a high-end sound system... Those lights in the demos are simply beautiful, and from what he's said so far, that's just the tip of the iceberg. -Dan

    Good, creepy sound wad?

When it's done, would you mind posting it online somewhere?
  11. Alright, a few questions: -Can anyone recommend a few good midi notators? I've been using rosegarden, but I'm at a loss for patch sets. -What's the best archive of "best of the best" single player megawads? Thanks, -Dan
  12. Yes, links would be most excellent. Thanks in advance, -Dan
  13. Cakewalk is nice, BUT my main problem is the lack of patch sets. I can't afford to pay for a professional set - so where can I get some nice sample instrument sets? -Dan
  14. But they look so similar! I guess I'm that "stupid user" I always have to plan for in UI design... -Dan
  15. Yah, been there. Team TNT in particular does some great stuff. But I'm not sure if I'm missing out on anything. -Dan

    Five Years Of Eternity

5 years? That's getting silly. This better be one hell of a modification, a complete rework of the doom game and engine, otherwise I'll be suitably unimpressed. -Dan
  20. I'm so happy I could cry - it does have a plot! One problem, however. I was hoping that the minimum specs for Doom 3 would blow my system out of the water, thus giving me an excuse to by a whole new system, but it seems as though I'll be able to run it fine. <font size=1><samp>Maybe I can justify a new system if they intend to make heavy use of Pixel Shaders... :)</samp></font> -Dan

    POTD

Like many of my fellow University students who fail to be hypocrites and site a lack of concious access to our belief system, I am agnostic. Don't believe for the sake of human fallibility and fear of death, grab your balls and trust in what you can discern from the real world, which, in relation to the afterlife, appears to be dick all. ;) -Dan

    Another Doom GBA Interview

The doom community was asked to make levels for another fps that's coming out for the GBA - the name eludes me right now. -Dan
