*smirks* what a mad lad. -
Some of the damaging floors have souls whose touch deteriorate doomguy's life. Spectres are just stronger beings of the bunch.

Super rocket launcher. Big boom with multiple smaller explosions near the impact, quite similar to the firebomb in Rise of the Triad but without the X-pattern. Rivals the BFG9000 in destructive power.

What's wrong in Duke Nukem 3D 20th Anniversary World Tour Edition ?

Leaves (the game in it's current broken state) At least they added two dots to the end of the sentence, giving room to the imagination. -

One can find out by comparing its spectacularly lame help screen revisions. -
The 2-player split-screen used to be playable before they switched the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9, adding more field of view at the cost of screen size. Apparently online was too complex to code even though the BFG Edition exists.

Rooms E2M2 - The blue door room with the window. E2M5 - The baron cage room followed by the bright and empty room. What makes this room comfy is how isolated it is from the rest of the map. E2M7 - The red key room with its dedicated monitoring booth. Maps E3M7 - Pools. TNT MAP12 - Always liked the liminal spaces in this relaxing map. Episode Heretic E3 - Not only the theme and colors but the thought of '94 design makes this episode comfy.

You're right. I chose 640 x 480 because running the game on DOSBox would get flickering weapon sprites on 1024 x 768 and freezing/texture bugs on 800 x 600 (for some reason, this always occurs in E1L3). I was using GOG's DOSBox 0.74 build which isn't the best available option. Staging seems to fix the flickering but not the freezing on higher resolutions. That's what I thought. The boss was partially in the sludge which made it harder to figure out. The horribly low-quality CG ending didn't help either. I didn't know its attacks as I was too busy shooting tougher enemies while avoiding death pits.

Played through the first episode on killbilly, saving only before the exits. It's an ok game once you learn how the weapons and items work. Peeking from cover shotgunning varmints before they react is a viable tactic. It takes a million of bullets to kill a dog but any projectile weapon works fine. E1L5 has a mean start with enemies and explosive barrels surrounding you. E1L6's exit was cryptic with the shootable buttons hidden from view. It took me almost an hour to figure that out before looking from a video. Couldn't see what the E1L7 boss was supposed to be, because the fight was short. For the authentic experience, play it on DOSBox with machine set to vesa_nolfb and memory size to 64 megabytes. Select the game's resolution to 640 x 480.

There's a Ultimate Doom v1.9 to Doom v1.1 Downgrade. Doomgate.de has more files.

Speaking of E3M6 and item count, don't miss the flask inside the alcove next to the yellow key door. It's bugged in both versions but still reachable if you run into the wall.

6 or 7 when I started on Doom95 shareware in 1999 and 8 on DOS shareware v1.8 in spring 2001. Provoking monster infights was the best part of the game back then.

Here's an old post I made on the subject, when I had too much time to kill.

The Rage, a 3D beat 'em up by FluidGames. My brother downloaded the demo from somewhere in 2002 and me and my friend used to play it through a few times by taking turns. You could beat up cars till they explode and pick up firearms, including a bazooka right at the beginning. The enemy knockout sounds were ridiculous, particularly the mohawk punk's which we imitated. The first boss was a fat trucker man who could combo break with a burping sound and the second boss was a bazooka-wielding Guile look-alike riding a helicopter.

A bunch of freeware and shareware games my brother and I downloaded in 2002-05 if that counts. Played a game with a similar name if I remember correctly. This one was a Commander Keen clone where the player character is a pizza delivery guy. It's not mentioned anywhere in the fan game list of KeenWiki. I think it was released in 2005 or '06.
