This one is twisted. So don't say I didn't warn you. What's the best thing about the new Batman film?

Megadeth is has been awesome since the get go and have been till this day, except Risk because it's not all that great. A good portion of the classic Kill em' All album songs was written or at least co-written by Mustaine. Which explains the similarity between Four Horsemen and Mechanix. All-in-all he's a pretty cool guy but since he's found god outside of Megadeth he's become a bit of a tool, but if he's just talking about music he's pretty great.

I don't like deciding between the two but place a gun to my temple and I'll spew Carmack for a few core reasons but mainly because if he hadn't come up with that tech at that time who knows what we'd be playing. Also for coming up with the name Doom. But Romero did his fair share like teleports ground-breaking level design. The tools... Need I say more? They're both good equally. Like the Beatles singles before Yoko.

I disagree with the title. Imagine if classics such as The Shawshank Redemption or Schindler's List had a full metal soundtrack? But saying that, Doom the film was all right it wasn't as cool as it could've been if it followed more-or-less the same story as Doom 3 it would've been far better. Removing the satanic elements to play it safe was definitely a mistake. Although Carmack tearing off his ear was pretty cool.

First Official Screenshots of Doom 3 BFG Edition Revealed

Bit of a jip that they didn't change the shadowing. -
VoxLap... ** Out of the two though, Source.

A few Soul Cubes in its general direction did the trick... It was dismal, I would much rather run around shooting at it with a rocket launcher.

I'm with this guy :P

The corny B movie effects/style that got it into so much trouble back in the day. Because I have a bit of a warped sense of humour and it was really the first game I saw with this sort of demented/demonic style. I was playing DTWID earlier and the style still manages to make me smile...

The worst part about it all is that the original L4D is relatively unchanged from the US version.
-
Doomguy is Chuck Norris...
-
Not legally because it requires Steam which would check all of that stuff... I assume.
-
I've never played L4D2, and don't want to either because I live in Australia and our version is utter crap due to the fact that Valve were asked to censor it until it was essentially like running around and shooting stuffed bears with zombie masks on (that also disappear before they even hit the ground)... :/

I'm talking about the shadowing and virtual texturing. I think that the company is still initiative in that they create this shit from scratch. Fair enough the theory is there, but it's a big leap from theory to execution. You have to remember that from the earliest Commander Keen days id have always been a technology oriented company, so like CryTek they create things that push limits... id Tech 5 has to be one of the better looking engines of this generation, probably no where near the functionality of Source or Unreal but it's being worked on by about half the man power.
-
I don't know I think the reason that id Software has changed a bit in their direction is largely due to changing gamer markets. I didn't mind Doom 3's retelling of the Doom story and Rage I found quite unique although the themes were very familiar. In the end the main aim of id Software is to make money if they're not making any money and if they kept releasing games with their previous formula of "run'n'gun" they'd be well out of business which means no more Doom, Quake or Wolfenstein as we know it. Long story short there's only a certain amount of time before a company that is essentially a one trick pony collapses in on itself, a modern example would be all the creators of the CoD series (CoD is shit). If id didn't change to appeal to a broader market they'd be where 3D Realms and any number of great 90's studios are now; defunct with their talent only remembered by the fan boys. Also I don't get how people can slam such a great company. The reason they take so long in overall game development time is because they make stuff up that becomes standard. There isn't many game companies that do that anymore. Not even Epic do that with their Unreal Engines. I think the closest modern company to id would be CryTek.

I kind of want to try out that Halloween game by Jadeware. Pity the group seems to have died out sometime after 2009.

And unwed teenage mothers.

I second that but wish to add that it was DOOM and Heavy Metal music with bands such as Marilyn Manson and Cannibal Corpse glorifying violence and death. Also in the video game Doom you go through levels and kill people to gain points, and the more of these points a player had the more grizzly murders can be committed... "Violence is they're reward."

I'm currently looking at a bunch of Linux distros to decide which one would suit me as a developer and I was wondering if any Linux users have any input on their favourites. Currently I think I've narrowed it down to three which are Ubuntu, Fedora and Gentoo, but any input on another distro would be appreciated.

So really Ubuntu us the way to go practically? That's what I was leaning towards anyway... Thanks for the input.

I'm not one to post things like this but as it's the Doom community I may as well:

180 movie - reminding you that pro-choicers are Nazis

180... The short Text Version: Do you know who Hitler is? Your thoughts on the holocaust? Would you bury someone alive if your life was at stake? Are you pro abortion? (NOTE: If you are you're Hitler...) How can you live with yourself you baby killer? The whole argument is one sided. Women have the right to do what they want and no Christian is going to convince me otherwise.
