    If you want to have a wall you can make the sector then delete it leaving a void behind. It's a much better method than making every wall a 0 height sector.

    Thanks @NaZa My concern in making two separate leaderboards is that it would splinter this already small group. I personally really like having everyone battle it out on the same board. If the issue is a perceived stigma around category 3 then it's a cultural issue and can be resolved through a change in behavior rather than changing the mechanics of the league itself. I know I'll be doing category 3 runs from now on - all my previous runs have been just for fun with no thought that I'd actually complete the wad. I want to actually do well now so I'll route and grind tough sections.

    Currently, scoring is weighted based on category, correct? If so, then maybe that could changed to a standardized system. That would allow players to submit any sort of run with no disadvantage unless playing with self imposed limits i.e cat1

    @zzzornbringer Doom demos are a recording of inputs pressed. If you played it backwards all that would happen is you would do the actions in reverse but the gamestate wouldn't roll back i.e monsters wouldn't come back to life etc.
  8. Doom Annihilation will be sweeeeeeeet. Like, it'll (probably, maybe) be a shit Doom movie but it'll be fun and cool to see all the demons. Unless they completely butcher it by making excruciatingly boring somehow I imagine it'll be like Doom (2005) where if you appreciate it for what it is it's a fun watch. I just checked the imdb page cause I haven't been keeping track of it and rofl, this is 'Dr. Sandy Peterson'.
  9. I've looked at this again and my hopes are sky high. The fact that it's written and produced by Tom Bissell who wrote The Disaster Artist book and produced by the Franco brothers is encouraging. The fact that they all treated the Disaster Artist source material with so much respect makes me think they'll do the same for Master of Doom. I hope the pilot gets picked, I imagine it will with these names behind it.

    I mean, you can just manually save before big encounters. One thing I do sometimes is limit my saves to 1 or 2 per map. Savescumming is an issue the player needs to overcome, not the mapper. If people want to savescumming they should be able to, if you don't want you can just not. The rewind thing would be cool to see though.

    I'd like to keep the list(s) consecutively ascended in (general) difficulty. I'll be adding a concise version with a limit of (8?) WADs. The reason I'm not inclined to have the WADs divided into pools is I like having it laid out so I know exactly what I'll be playing next - it makes it feel more structured. That's just my personal preference though. I will be adding notes advising of difficulty equivalency as is currently the case with AA and Valiant.
  12. It'll be interesting no matter what. I, too, am cautiously optimistic but even if it turns out to be complete crap then meh whatever, it'll still be a novelty. I can see most people are managing their expectations well so it'll all probably work out.

    @Ancalagon Updated the OP with your map01 UV Max. The reason I choose the TAS run initially is because I wanted all the maps there in a playlist but hey, people know how to search so they can figure it out if needed.

    @3saster Thanks for the input. I've reordered it a fair bit now. My original placement of HR came from me experience where I (foolishly) tried to go through it blind with no saves and ended up taking forever. @Spectre01 I think I'll keep HR in the list because it's such a significant mapset. I will be adding HR2 soon.

    This is a thought I've had before. I think there will be a second version of the list with more concise progression order, I'll probably do that in the second post I have in the thread. I wondered about making a placeholder post so I could have the first two and in retrospect I definitely should have done so..

    Thanks for the info, I moved Stardate. I fully freeballed with that one as I've yet to play it. Anyone else able to comment on Sunder's placement taking the new maps into account? For me the placement makes sense but if others disagree I'll move it. For people with other wad suggestions, I'll avoid replying to each and every post to not bump/spam the thread unnecessarily, I'll do my next round of additions this weekend so keep em coming.

    If you wanna play Doom to get ready for Eternal I'd recommend grabbing all the necessary wads and using WadSmoosh.

    The monsters are tougher so are more liable to be misused e.g chaingun snipers. People (generally) don't inherently hate the monsters themselves.

    I'm a novice with DECORATE so there may be easier ways but what I would do is adjust the different projectiles. The monster spawns their respective projectile so you need to change those, not the monsters themselves. Here's an example for the imp fireball: ACTOR DoomImpBallF : DoomImpBall replaces DoomImpBall { speed 20 }

    WAD Progression for Skill Improvement

    I'll be adding more wads over the next few days (weekend mainly). To change gears a bit, is anyone using this list? I myself just finished AV tonight (finally, felt like a real nerd not having played through) and now it's onto Scythe 2 (played both AA and Valiant). I'm really looking forward to Stardate20X6, I've loved other Ribbiks maps/sets and it looks so fucking cool.
