    This is a thought I've had before. I think there will be a second version of the list with more concise progression order, I'll probably do that in the second post I have in the thread. I wondered about making a placeholder post so I could have the first two and in retrospect I definitely should have done so..

    Thanks for the info, I moved Stardate. I fully freeballed with that one as I've yet to play it. Anyone else able to comment on Sunder's placement taking the new maps into account? For me the placement makes sense but if others disagree I'll move it. For people with other wad suggestions, I'll avoid replying to each and every post to not bump/spam the thread unnecessarily, I'll do my next round of additions this weekend so keep em coming.

    If you wanna play Doom to get ready for Eternal I'd recommend grabbing all the necessary wads and using WadSmoosh.

    The monsters are tougher so are more liable to be misused e.g chaingun snipers. People (generally) don't inherently hate the monsters themselves.

    Where would you put Killing Adventure? Thanks for the info regarding Whitemare and the suggestion @Kyoh1. Anyone played Dark Encounters and able to comment on the difficulty?

    Faster monsters

    I'm a novice with DECORATE so there may be easier ways but what I would do is adjust the different projectiles. The monster spawns their respective projectile so you need to change those, not the monsters themselves. Here's an example for the imp fireball: ACTOR DoomImpBallF : DoomImpBall replaces DoomImpBall { speed 20 }

    WAD Progression for Skill Improvement

    I'll be adding more wads over the next few days (weekend mainly). To change gears a bit, is anyone using this list? I myself just finished AV tonight (finally, felt like a real nerd not having played through) and now it's onto Scythe 2 (played both AA and Valiant). I'm really looking forward to Stardate20X6, I've loved other Ribbiks maps/sets and it looks so fucking cool.

    Jazz Jackrabbit Doom Mod Beta

    Dude, this is sick lol. This has hard 90s pwad vibes in the best way. The tiny turtles saying 'drop your weapons' is especially funny. I'm only a little bit into map one but it's great. I think the bouncer projectiles should actually bounce, that's easy enough to do via DECORATE. I went through the other maps to take some screenshots and I can see that map01 is very bare and simple compared to the others, it'd be worth tuning that up IMO. I love the sprites (def 90s feeling) but they could do with some added shading. Doing each frame for the enemies would take ages but the weapons shouldn't be too bad. Edit: I'm was already playing through Jazz1 and fuck the soundtrack is good.

    Yeah, the roller chairs and cards flat in the first alpha. They work best in a self-aware, tongue in cheek sorta way for the most part. The wad that I'm making that's got a whole heap of sector furniture is a jokewad (in premise, not in terms of gameplay unless you count the poo golems) which works pretty well IMO. Edit: I agree, if you're aiming for properly realistic maps sector furniture should be carefully looked at - chances are it'll look goofy.

    Chemical Facility - (My first map/.WAD)

    This is a solid map. I'm a big fan of small maps (heh), I especially liked the little outdoor area. You nailed the classic detailing - good use of lighting especially. I liked the asymmetrical map design and the flow with the blue key was nice (no backtracking, yay). Difficulty was on point for a map01 too. I'm def keen to see what else you put out. The monster placement was good, having some monsters deaf and others not worked nicely in an iwad feeling way. One thing I could recommend would be to maybe add some sound blocking lines to the lift up to the chaingunners. When testing in other ports I woke up the chaingunners before going up and got a face full of shit. It was manageable and np if intentional but just a heads up. I tested this in glboom+ and it worked fine although the chainsaw secret didn't open. I tested Chocolate and Crispy but they either crashed or didn't run. I'd add a note to your post (which was great btw) that it's a Boom map. Seeing ZDoom made me think it might be UDMF. Edit: Oh, you should mark your secret walls as 1 sided linedefs so you can't see them on the automap Here's my first playthrough - in glboom+

    I'm bumping this old thread to express my appreciation for Evolution of the WAD, it's easily one of my favorite shows (podcasts?). Listening to people talk about Doom while playing Doom is a fantastic combo. I'd be stoked on life if there were more eps.

    Hexmas community project (RC2)

    I played a bunch of the first map (first left on hub) and it was fkn dope. Hexen has such a cool feel to it and the map really brought that aesthetic to life. Looking forward to playing more!

    I appreciate jokewads but the keyword is joke. Maybe I'm being overly harsh but if this is an exercise in learning how to edit Doom then cool but add more before releasing. If it was actually fleshed out and funny that'd be something else. You should also merge your resource wads with your map using SLADE.

    I agree. I mentioned this earlier but Quake is for competitive play, Doom is just for fun. If there's no duel/dm then eh, I'm not really fussed. It'd be cool but whatever.

    I need your opinion for this Pickup Message

    It doesn't make sense. Shot is in the past tense so it doesn't really work. I don't get the fear part either, are you supposed to be afraid? If the message was 'shoot and fear until it is done' I still don't understand what it's trying to say.
