    Doom Builder 64 - Instantly Crashes on Startup

    Well that just sucks. You mean (theoretically) unless doom builder 64 updates to the new slimdx, it will just die as soon as it starts? Well thats beautiful. Hmm... What if I downgraded my db2? Maybe that would fix it? *EDIT* Okay well I can't figure out how to downgrade db2. So i'm going to uninstall it, then re-install db64. I don't want to, but I guess I have to. Cock.
  2. No matter what I do, I can't figure out why it keeps crashing. I mean, I use use Doom Builder 2 all the time. It works perfectly fine. So Doom Builder 64, *Logically*, would work right? WRONG. I can't even tell you how many times i've uninstalled and reinstalled it. I don't even get a messge. It just dies. "Doom Builder 64.exe has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution..." It waits about 5 seconds, then disappears. What the hell. You know what, its worked for me before. Recently I reformatted my computer, so now, I reinstall it. AN YOU KNOW WHAT? Nothing. It refuses to work. Someone please tell me what's wrong with it.

    Using DECORATE in .pk3 format

    Hi all. I want to ask a question. I recently switched from .wad to .pk3 for a project of mine to help organize things. I organized the decorate into 2 folders, Weapons and Items. Then I have the actual DECORATE lump in the root folder. So it looks like this when first opened /Sounds /Sprites /Decorate (where the Weapons and Items folders are) |DECORATE |SNDINFO |GLDEFS So in the decorate lump, i learned that to call the text files, (yes i organzed the decorate codes into new text files, like "machinegun.txt" in Weapons), and to do that it need to be like this; #include "folders/*.txt" But when i attempted; #include "Decorate/Weapons/Machinegun.txt" It doesn't work, it says the lump wasn't found. I don't understand. I can't find any tutorials on it. Can someone please help me with this?

    Thanks Alot!! I could Really use this. I haven't tested it yet but when i do, i'll tell you the end result! EDIT: I forgot to ask, what about the misssiles and flame trails she fires? I think i could use A_CustomMissile but i don't know the offsets

    Nah, i mean, i would rather use the original Motherdemon. As there are some differences between TC and the original.

    Hey yeah, im making some maps for Doom 2 and for the end boss, instead of the typical Icon of Sin, i would to use the mother demon. But no matter where i look i cant find a DECORATE code for her. I have the sprites though. Can someone give me a hand?

    The pistol sucks

    I agree the pistol becomes almost completely useless when you have other weapons. I believe the Doom 64 pistol fired faster though didn't it? Off topic, what about the shotgun? It becomes almost useless when you get the SSG. The only thing is that you can use sg for sniping.
  9. Hey guys, i wrote a fan fic a while back called "Doom 64: The last battle" and i wanted to go to the beginning and lead all of events to that point. So here it is and enjoy. Again, some story edits included :3. The Staging Area. --------------------------------------------------------- (*1 hour before the incident*) You and your best friend, as well as 3 other squad members, were just sent to investigate some murders in the DELTA-3 sector, where the long forgotten "DOOM" project was being held. This did not come to a surprise to you though. On the way you began having flash backs...of the same project which opened a few years ago on the Deimos Facility. But just as quickly as you remembered it, your drop ship landed and the door opened. The cold martian breeze was familiar. The feeling of death. "Hey! Buddy wake up! You alright?" asked your friend. You snapped your head up in surprise. You looked back at him and said, "Yeah i'm good. Just some bad memories hittin' me." "Oh yeah, the Deimos thing huh? Well listen, we gotta mission to do so shape up an lets go." responded your friend. The door opens and a dark hall is revealed. You and your squad walked in. You turned on your flash light and saw a splotch of blood on the floor...but noticed there was dripping...you looked up and nearly vomited. An indescribably destroyed corpse. The body appeared slashed and burned beyond any possible recognition. However, you did notice a shredded lab coat on the remains of the corpse. It was possibly a scientist (of course it was so gruesome, a lab coat may have flown from a different victim and stuck itself to this body, you can never tell when demonic creatures are involved). Minutes had passed wandering through the dark and silent halls of the DELTA-3 sector. Almost nothing had happened since the discovery of the dead scientist. Until, a screeching sound was heard from one of the vents. A few seconds of silence passed until one of your squad members vanished. You jerked back in shock as another member vanished before you. Shots were fired in almost every direction. Suddenly, a large humanoid demon had jumped down and threw a ball of fire towards you. You were struck but just barely, not enough to cause too much damage. But by the time you turned back to face it, your whole squad was decimated. Thankfully, your friend survived and shot it about 23 times before it fell with a fading shriek. "Dude...go...get *cough* *cough*...help...*gargle* *choke*..." studdered your friend. He looked you one more time in the eye, then with his final breath, and said, "f-f-fi-fini-sh- the m-m-mission." His eyes rolled up, then closed slightly. And died. With tears in your eyes and God as your witness, you vowed to avenge his death and take the task laid before you. Your mission was reactivated... .....KILL THEM ALL..... You looked around and found a teleporter which was being worked on by scientists (emphasis on WAS). You were clueless to as how these things worked. You see several sets of colorful button and switches. Fortunately, during marine training a few years back, you remember that to activate a teleporter had something to do with Flipping the 3rd, 6th, and 12th switches, push the EXTRCT, TO, and PNT buttons, and select the cordinates of your destination. You punched in the coordinates, DELTA-3 A-635E. This was the coordinate set closest to the objective. The marines here called this place The Staging Area.... The teleporter throws you into a long tunnel. In reality, teleportation is almost instant. But the past memories of Deimos puts you in a fear-gripped daze. The process felt more like hours than seconds. But when you did arrive, you felt something you've never felt before. You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but it felt a bit familiar. You get a feeling that the rest of this mission wont be as easy as you had hoped. Pistol locked and loaded, you look around and head out. To Be Continued ~ The Staging Area Part 2!

    D64 Fan Fic - The Last Battle

    (sorry for small bump) Thanks guys. This was my first. I tried hard. The part about the mother was made up. Oh and PaganRaven, your vid was cool. And if you see a comment on your video, (Rendez333) that was me. It's my youtube name. Stay tuned for Doom 64: The Staging Area! P.S. Impie, i do read other books, describing the game play was the whole point.
  11. This is the ending of Doom 64 with some slight story edits :P. Also my first Fan Fic. Hope you guys like it! The teleporter throws you once again into an unknown land. But oddly enough, you see weapons and ammo instead of demons. One weapon stood out...a weapon made of flesh and bone. It has and inscription on it. "Unmaker". You saw that as you picked up the Unmaker, your Demon Keys glowed. Soon you felt an awesome power that you have never felt before. The Gates open before you, and you see 3 large box shaped temples. Above are signs of evil posted on it. 3 colors, Blue, Red, and Purple. You realize that these are also symbols of the three demon keys you found! Then you hear the gruesome sounds of demons entering portals and wandering out of the temples. Quickly you look for a way to use your key when you stumbled behind the temples and found a switch. As soon as you inserted the key, it fit, and large rumble of grinding gates, closing the portals and cutting off intruding demons. You use your Gatling Gun to exterminate the remaing demons and souls. Suddenly, as the last demons was slain, you hear stone grinding again...A large altar rose from the ground, and walls lowerd, revealing a truely hideous sight. It Made itself known, "You are the mortal who hasssss vanquisshed my minions. Your suffering will be exssstrodenary. Or you can join me and my dark army, to rid the universssse of your pathetic kin. Join me, the mother of all demonssss! Hahahaha!" You looked into its bleeding eyes, and shouted in defiance, "I will never join you or your 'Dark Army'. You are nothing but garbage that needs to be destroyed!" You picked up your rocket launcher and raised it to the Mother Demon. It hissed violently, then raised it's four hands and out from them, large speeding fireballs! You attempt to dodge them but they followed you! You jumped behind the Demon Switch and the fireballs exploded into furious flames. Fire trails soon followed the fireballs. These were easy to dodge. She spoke again, "HAHAHA! Run you pathetic mortal! I can keep this up forever!" she exclaimed as she launched more fire balls and flame trails. It was relentless and you could not continue for much longer. Your strength was dropping quickly. Suddenly a Fireball that you had not seen had struck you in the back. You fell with shriek. Your armor had been burned and a burst of pain shocked your body. As you lay there waiting to die, a mist surrounds you, engulfs you. You can hear the soft voice of your long dead mother, as she calls to you, "My son, don't be afraid...you have a heart of gold, and nerves of steel, and you can overcome all challenges." Her voice faded into the light. A burst of energy surged through your body. You no longer felt pain. You raised the Unmaker and aimed it at the viscous beast's head and pulled the trigger and held it. You didnt hear anything past a few shrieks and screams and a bloody explosion. You opened your eyes as they were shut during the massacre, and you saw nothing but flesh and blood on the ground. You looked up at the burning sky. You stood there.....and waited.....and realized that there was no way to escape hell except to go back out where you came. You did not have this strength. Instead, to ensure that no demon ever rises again...you remain in the bowels of hell. The End

    I do appreciate D64EX, i love it and play it a lot. And i saw the D64 Stuff packs. I dont care if you say this project is a dumb idea, because im going to do it anyway for the sake of other's enjoyment. I cant imagine how much time it took to make and perfect Doom 64EX. EDIT: I just tried the D64 pack and it sucks major shit. Theres no original music, or maps. Even the textures aren't original. As far as i know, D64EX is the most original port of D64 there is. Im trying to do the same but turn it into a port-runable mod.

    Agreed. Thats one reason that this mod is being made. So its easier to make maps and mods for Doom 2/ZDoom.

    Like I said, i really just want to keep everything about doom 64, and put it into Doom 2 for the following: -Easier Access -Easier Modding -To Keep Originality You are right though. Even though there are many ways to play on the PC in general, there are minimal ways to do so on Skulltag or ZDoom. Yes, there is cdoom64, but again, originality. Also it didnt have EVERYTHING from D64. This will have all the levels, music and sounds, sprites, textures, everything. Besides I/We are doing the work soo you dont have to :D EDIT: "there are minimal ways to do so on Skulltag or ZDoom" Okay, its for doom 2 in GENERAL. I just mentioned Skulltag and ZDoom because they are two source ports that support Doom 2. I know there are plenty of other source ports

    I actually changed my mind, its for episode 2 :3 But anyway, My map's draft is done, ill host it on mediafire and ill PM you the link. If there is ANY problems, i tell me and i will fix them (afterall it is a draft)
