SNES Doom source released under GPLv3

Was only a matter of time.

    Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes

The release date was just one part of the failure. We should not forget, that back then, as unbelievable it sounds now, back then the CS crowd hated the idea of Steam. CS without WON was not acceptible for them. While others, who wheren't into CS, often didn't knew that there was the SP part in CS:CZ.

    Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes

Not to forget, that it's reputation was partly based on how many developers where part of the development. When it was released nobody had any hope for DS to be good, and the CS-community mostly hated the MP part for being what it was, a graphic update and Valves attempt to force them to use Steam.

    Some Doom 2 GBA Oddities

What's even more ironic is, that in Duke Nukem Advance they left many references to Doom stuff like item names. The third game using Southpaw isn't Ecks vs. Sever, it's Ice Nine.

Should Doom 64 get its own category in the forums?

It was meant as an N64 exclusive title from the start. Midway and Doom was part of what Ninntendo called the "ultra64 dream team". That reaches back to when the N64 had his working name Project Reality.

What's the worst port of Doom?

He asked what the worst port is, not the worst console port. That DF video does not contain anything other that the console ports. ;-) As good as this video is, there is the old story of "doom's not 3d" inside, and it misses Doom II for the Tapwave Zodiac, so at least one console port is missing.
  7. How could you forget the alien tit gun?

    Are Doom Monsters Ticklish?

We should discuss the real important questions: Do doom monsters do farting? And if so, how did it smell?
  13. Doom is mostly nostalgic for me, but never grow old. I am definitely not the same guy i was when i sat in front of my tv, a copy of 32X Doom running, while got that feeling being sucked into my tv the moment i moved forward the first time. But i got flashbacks of memories like that from time to time. For example, when i played a bit of Doom on my newly bought Switch, when i heard the random pitch of monster sounds. A sound i haven't heard for ages, because i am using source ports, mostly (G)ZDoom since years, and never activated that in the options. So, Doom sometimes is pure nostalgia, and modern, whenever it shows again how sophisticated the game mechanic, the movement, the weapon balancing is in comparsion to so much other, even recent games.
  14. Wheren't the Master Levels released before Final Doom? And what's the deal with the Spear of Destiny mission packs by FormGen?
  15. Do YOU remember? Because since more than 15 years id Software let others do (some of) their games. Examples: Return to Castle Wolfenstein (2001) Nerve/Gray Matter Quake 4 (2005) Raven ET: Quake Wars (2007) Splash Damage Wolfenstein (2009) Raven And these are only some full games, if you take AddOns into account, that reaches back to the mid-nineties, starting with the Quake Mission Packs.

Is DOOM 64 on Switch worth buying?

Doom64 on the switch is definitely worth the $5, let alone for the horizontal gyro-aiming, which make it far more precise once you are familiar with it.
  17. Doom64 onn the Switch have that, and it is a great addition. Would love to see that added to the classic Doom games too. It makes horizontal aiming much more precise.

What Do You Think Of Quake's Expansions?

Shrak wasn't anything special. But Malice is a whole different story. That's in fact a complete new game, and i liked it very much back then. There was another commercial TC, X-Men: Ravagers of the Apocalypse, which was awful.

What's the worst port of Doom?

You forgot the worst port of all. MachineWorks Northwests port to the Pocket PC. Due to how these old PDA are used it is nearly unplayable. It is like playing keyboard only, on a keyboard shrunken down to 10%, and watching it on a stamp size screen. And what i really don't understand is, why the hell the game containing the ultimate doom IWAD, and just let you play the three episodes from the original release.
  20. You didn't get it. GOG does not show any game in germany, which is on the index list, and that included Doom II v1.9 before. So, while they did not have regions in the manner Steam have, they did have regional locks. but the topic was another one, you have said: And that is not true, because they do sell it via GOG.
  21. What the hell are you talking about? Where did you get your information from? Are you actually living in germany? Because i do. GOG DO sell the game in germany, Steam does not. And of course did GOG have regions, there are plenty of games you can't buy or even see if you browse GOG from germany. Kingpin for example, or Dark Forces, both still on the index list. Doom II isn't on that list anymore since 30th of december 2019, and you can buy it from GOG.
  22. It is relevant because it is NOT region locked anymore, at least not at GOG.
  23. Really? What version of Doom II do you think they sell at Steam and GOG? Thats still v1.9 with the Wolfenstein 3-D stuff running on DOSBox. What they didn't sold in germany was a boxed copy of v1.9, because the censored german version was 1.666 and was put on the index anyway. And they didn't sold the unmodified XBLA version of the game in germany, but that was long before the ban of wolfenstein was lifted, and the v1.9 version of Doom II was taken from the list of indexed stuff.
  24. Doom2 with the Wolf3D stuff isn't a problem in germany anymore.

Why did Duke fail where Doom succeeded?

That's more or less exactly my opinion. The update Duke would need is a mostly refresh of his onliners to newer action movies, because i think many younger customers have no connection to the movies Dukes character and onliners are based of. Army of Darkness or They Live aren't exactly well known today. Even Die Hard isn't as well known as it was in the 90ies.
