Me and keksdose did a duel run-through of pretty much all the maps some time ago, with the first compiled wad. And I'll give a big shout-out for Map29 Techbase terror. For being one of the most fun duel maps we've ever played. However it did require mouse-look, jumping and just 2 players (so we sort of abused the map). The updated version sort of ruined the things that made the original version fun :P -

1. For displaying the player's current location i think you need Sectinfo, which IIRC is a Skulltag only feature. And i'm not sure how flexible it is. Another option would be doing some heavy acs code to make a custom sectinfo kind of thing. That wouldn't be a task for a beginner though so depending on your acs skills you might want to have someone else code it for you. 2. Correct me if i'm wrong here, I might be really off. I think there should be a acs function called "Log" or something, that is similar to Print but throws the text into the console, so you could scroll up the console to read the text you've once got. However the console tends to get kinda stuffed and it cleans out really old stuff if it gets too full. So you might actually loose the message in that process. Another option again would be doing it in ACS. However that isn't easy either. -

The map is somewhat done, took me only 9 hours, so i did it in one day. It would take the e3m3 spot. (e3m2, e3m9 might work too) http://www.sendspace.com/file/931mxc lump is E3M1 Its only for UV atm. Might redo the area after the bluekey-door and make it longer. Probably going to add a few more secrets to it too, like a radsuit could probably fit the map well. Tell me what you guys think -

Started a new E3 map today. Wish I could show off an area that use both the Cement and vines extensively but its not done yet. But don't fear, the cement and vine theme is definitely there. -
It has made me spend a lot of time in front of the computer and my social life has suffered from it. However it has given me a bunch of international friends instead, and made me learn art, architecture and design.

I don't know but the way i understand it. this is quite a bad way to represent it. Wouldn't 2 paths that lead to the same blue key be better than 2 paths that lead to 2 different blue keys) This would be a much better way to make it work in terms of gameplay. Then you could either choose to go back the same way for safety's sake or be that hardcore badass doomer who goes through all maps with 100% kills(without having to actually pick up 2 blue keys which is rather ehm stupid). The power of actual decision can be quite a turn on for people who enjoy good gameplay. However as I havn't actually played the map I suppose I'm not in the position to actually say something like that.

I have never ever made a Slaughter map before. But i've lately been playing so many slaughter maps that i thought wth, why not try to make one. theres the starting area. Went a little crazy with the colors and textures, they might be stuff that will change overtime :P the sky will atleast be changed.

Going to have to second the new cacoward category "Best gameplay mod" or something similar. Brutal doom is really good theese days, but I keep my hopes up for Project MSX too. Looks really good. The latter especially looks competent enough to be cacoward material IMO.

Awesome, Downloading it right now. Yeah It took me around 20 hours straight to get the timelapse video up on youtube too, it just failed and failed and yet again failed. It was really horrible, And the wait time for something so huge as a HD 15 minute video is so long you wish you wouldn't have to do it more than once. Feels even better now that Youtube friggin deleted my video from youtube thanks to copyright infrigment. *yawn* Havn't bothered to reupload without the music.

Hmm yeah you have to compile the WEATHER lump and import the .acs file into the wad instead of the textlump.

@NT, Those Brightnesslevel changes in your outside areas look really unproffessional, I would suggest you not changing brightnesslevels outside at all, or that you maximum vary the brightness outside by one step. (32?) -

But why would it fit E1? E1 is supposed to be a moonbase, with human built structures and shit. While hell, well you know hell, its organic and unknown, so a eye would fit it much more. -

Thank you for the input :) I couldn't agree more. I too have taken into account what actually makes the map not look doomy and what does. And almost all my areas look big. Its ok with one or two big areas. but when everything is big, it dosnt give you that awesome vibe as Doom1 did. It takes away the feeling of being threatened and the feel of just being very small comes in instead. But its a little bit too late to change this in my map now. Atleast its something that I just cant bother to do, I would rather start a new map entierly. But i might fix some of the texturing inconsistencies and fix a few bugs for this map and make a tune for it soonish! Anyway, I'm kind of proud of the map either way. I atleast like the layout i made, the flow of the map, having a key that is totally optional and lots of secrets(my maps are usually super linear, this was linear too but not as much). And that every area is pretty recognizable. If... I will make a E2 map, The focus will be on more consistency in both size and texturing. -

I might have gone a little bit overboard with aligning and trying to make stuff look good, but i hope it gives you some ID vibes. There might be a little bit much of ammo and hp on the lower skill levels. but they are supposed to be easier anyway.
