http://www.korea-dpr.com/ The official webage of North Korea. Kim Jong Il describes himself as an "internet expert", and probably the only citizen in the country with internet access. Judging by the amateurish outdated style of the website I wouldn't be surprised if North Korea's only internet expert designed and made it personally after a game of golf that involved 18 holes in 1.

For me big spaces take a lot of planning. I can sometimes do up to four different variations before I come up with something that I like, usually borrowing the best idea from each variation and applying it to the finished product.

DNA tests reveal that Adolf Hitler's skull fragment belongs to a woman!
Starke Von Oben posted a topic in Everything Else
While looking for stuff for Return to Wolfendoom I came across this article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/sep/27/adolf-hitler-suicide-skull-fragment Pretty strange... The only positive physical proof that Hitler had shot himself has suddenly been rendered worthless. -

Hey folks, just some screenshots of some work I've been doing this weekend. It's far from finished and needs more detail and better texturing, but you get the general idea: http://img197.imageshack.us/i/screenshotdoom200910200.jpg/ http://img8.imageshack.us/i/screenshotdoom200910200.jpg/ As you can see I'm working on outdoor areas for the Castle. These are far from complete, and I'll be working on textures tomorrow to compliment the architecture better. I 've had an awful time with Portals this weekend, since I originally wanted to use them to create great architectural designs for these outdoor areas. Unfortunately HOM errors occur too frequently with any interconnecting window looking into the area, and that's something I'm not willing to put up with. It's a pity really since I think portals could be an amazing feature if they weren't so limited. You can also see in these screnshot the work I've done on my skybox, which includes actual mountains from the Bavarian Alps :D -

You'd be surprised what you can find with google images when making your own textures. It's not that difficult, just search for some free game textures and see what you can come up with.

That's why I posted it :P

I'm sorry but I don't think you have any idea what this is about either to be frank. You think reading a few popular articles on psychology makes you any more of a competent judge on the matter than Patrick? You're no more qualified than he is, and your opinions aren't the slightest more considered than his.

I agree with this post. Taking the argument to it's logical extreme, you may as well allow children at the age of eight to have sex with adults if they so consent. After all, it's their body and they can do what they like with it - many paedophiles even say that the children they sleep with do so "willingly", which clearly shows that children are easily manipulated and seduced. The truth is that at the age of eight you don't know what's right for you, certainly not regarding your own gender. This boy isn't even at a sexually developed age yet to even feel sexual arousal as an adult would, so how on earth can it make such a far reaching choice as to whether or not it wants to be a girl or a boy. I've heard a lot of wishy-washy arguments that it may harm the child more in the long run if it's wishes aren't fulfilled - I hardly think so. You will find more often than not that the people who ask for gender reassignment are turned down since they actually have some psychological issues that need clearing. I personally think the political leanings of the so-called "psychologists" and the judge who gave the all clear to this child should be called into question. This clearly wasn't done objectively but with the full application of political correctness. Drugs to prevent male adolescence and, at 12, get female hormones? Gender reassignment should carry with it a minimum age of at least 18 in my opinion, which includes hormone replacement drugs and the like.

How does one go about it? It seems that I am unable to delete unwanted patches I've made simply by deleting them in the patches menu, since they are still present in Doom Builder and the the Textures. How does one go about removing doing this?

That's what I want to know - how do I do that?

Ok don't expect anything spectacular from these screenshots, I've not done the lighting yet or have fleshed them out. They are just screenshots to demonstrate my work in progress and to show that the project is still alive and what the general feel of the mod will eventually look like. They are also a showcase of some of the new textures and sprites I've made in the past week :D Title: http://img40.imageshack.us/i/titlepic.png/ "Return to Wolfendoom" is just a working title at the moment... This screenshot just demonstrates a new flag pole and "Nazi Babe" I made, modified from Duke3D, it is not a part of the actual level however: http://img33.imageshack.us/i/screenshotdoom200910052.jpg/ Here are some screenshots of the actual level in progress. The general layout of the level is more or less done, it's just a case of detailing it (lighting, objects, etc). It's quite large, since I don't see any point in spanning the Castle any more than a single level: http://img24.imageshack.us/i/screenshotdoom200910122.jpg/ http://img44.imageshack.us/i/screenshotdoom200910122.jpg/ http://img32.imageshack.us/i/screenshotdoom200910122.jpg/ http://img269.imageshack.us/i/screenshotdoom200910122.jpg/ I'll be releasing the textures/sprites/decorate wad to the general public along with the wad when I get this level done, hopefully it will encourage people to make their own Wolfenstein mods of better repute and quality than has previously been the general case. I've noticed with a lot of individuals trying to do a Wolfenstein style doom mod that they often lapse into the boring and repetitive nature of original wolfenstein level design. Why do they do that? Surely if they may as well simply edit original Wolf3D and be done with it, to be frank. -
Doesn't anyone know of any???

Progress is going well - I took a weekend off from working on the mod to give myself some space and reflect on my work. I'll post some screenshots up later. -
Doom 2: The Master Levels is a pathetic excuse of a add-on pack.
Starke Von Oben replied to hardcore_gamer's topic in Doom General
Id were just showcasing that they have a vibrant, active community of map makers for their classic Magnum Opus. Doom was the first computer game that was heavily modified by the general public, and I'm pretty sure that has a a part to play as to why it still has an active and vibrant community. Whether or not all the levels are masterpieces, they are a good demonstration for would-be level designers of what's good and what's crap. To me it's just a library for inspiration. It's good and helpful to yourself as a map designer to see what makes a crap level as well as what makes a good one. -
You know you've been mapping too much when...

On the topic of architecture that fits into doom, Der Führerbunker not only would work with the Doom engine but also classic Wolfenstein 3D: http://gadabyte.com/ww-ii/images/europe/maps-newspapers/fuhrer_bunker.jpg In fact it looks uncannily like a Wolf3D level. Makes you think if Id got their inspiration from it... -
Ambient Sounds? How do I create them?
Starke Von Oben replied to Starke Von Oben's topic in Doom Editing
Thank you all for your help. I've been modding non stop for a week now and need a few days rest and will get back to this thread as soon as I start experimenting with all this info. Thanks again! -
Greetings! What lumps do I need to create in order to make Ambient sounds? I have a ton of .wav files that are ideal and would dearly love to include them in my wad. Many thanks.

Columbine School TC, with maps based on the actual location: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/41/Columbine_fbi_diagram_0003.jpg Now that would be controversial and sick, especially when you consider the history that the killers had with Doom.

I've been coming here since I was 15 (25 now), but never registered at the forums till recently. I remember going to my local cyber cafe back then, paying £5.50 an hour to download as much Doom stuff that me and my friend could get hold of. The computers didn't have CD writers, as they weren't that common back then, and we had to span all the stuff on flobby disks (such a pain in the arse when you got home and one of the disks was corrupted... used to feel like such a waste of time and dissapointment!). My first level editor was DoomCad. My friend introduced me to it, and at first I thought he was lying; I didn't believe it was possible for someone to make their own levels for a 3D game from home! The editor used to crash like fuck on his 486 PC, mostly do to the fact that we didn't know what we were doing back then. I remember clearly as we waited in anticipation during the nodebuild process, only to be presented with an error message that would crash the whole thing!

Truth. I came here over a month ago with virtually NO Decorate knowledge at all, but through study and work I have a far better grasp than I did previously.

Ambient Sounds? How do I create them?

Is it possible to give a standard sprite object a looping sound? Let's say for example that I've made a radio sprite and want it to emit a looping sound, how do I go about that?
