Doom Eternal wants you to think of the old ones so badly they even recreated the stuck lost soul bug.
It's not the best part though. I'm pretty sure they don't shut down the playsim during the credit roll, because I kept hearing that distinctive "lost soul trying to break up with a wall" sound throughout it. Thanks for a great final impression, id.

Unpleasant of them to not credit the real inventor of such a novelty.

Wait, there's an older one. I feel cheated.

Spoiler
Is this the "Reveal hidden contents" thing?

Ever heard a streamer reading intermission texts aloud? I swear to fucking god, the way they're doing it would make Shakespeare sound stupid.

Sometimes I think I have too many negative prejudices against people. If someone says something that I consider objectionable, I tend to remember it. Just now I saw a certain newcomer replying to a certain sensitive thread, and I immediately assumed it's gonna be something inappropriate.
Rarely do I see a message disappearing so quickly after being posted. Let's just say it was everything I thought it would be.

Imagine making a pencil drawing. It's not a sketch, so you consider it finished. It looks exactly how you imagined it, perhaps even better.
Then someone walks up to you, looks at what you just made and slaps you on the shoulder: "OMG it's so pretty!! But wouldn't it be even prettier if you painted it with colors and details and shit?? I mean don't get me wrong it's GREAT and you're srsly talented, but you should totally think about giving objectively better techniques a try!"
It's kinda what it looks like when people are starting to talk about how advanced graphics srsly can't hurt. Except they typically drop the praise.

The side you're gonna sympathize with in a heated disagreement depends on:
1. Which side conforms to your views the most.
2. Which side has more of your friends.
3. Logic and reason. -
Apparently, when you move geometry in Sectors mode, GZDB carefully splits your multi-area sectors into separate ones. Then of course everything's broken, but it's the thought that matters.

Created a bug report. Surprised it wasn't there already.
-
You can disable this feature in "Edit -> Merge Dragged Vertices Only" (the default option is "Replace with Dragged Geometry").
-
Thanks, it worked.
What is this feature supposed to be accomplishing, and why does it have this quirk?
-
So apparently Doom being perceived as kinda cute is women's fault. At least I can put that one mystery to rest.

When someone is experiencing difficulties about expressing their views without insulting everyone, or lacks competence to provide a truly valuable insight on the matter, insulting them back or pointing out their inadequacy is a charitable work. You're being helpful in the same way they're being helpful. All feedback matters.

1. I have approximately 6 dream projects that are gonna be epic when they're finished (which is approximately never).
2. Let's maybe make something small in the meantime, just be realistic for a change.
3. I have approximately 7 dream projects that are gonna be epic when they're finished (which is approximately never).

Welcome to the era of the Sierpinski carpet, the broderie nightmare into which all of our ideas are sewn and multiplied. You could make garments out of all this failure, I swear!

That awkward feeling when someone agrees with you on the internet. Makes you wonder what exactly did you do wrong.

The "games must be gamey" mindset is getting old. That Carmack quote was how many years ago? We have a very serious problem, of course - "videogames" has "games" in it. But maybe instead of forcing all interactive media into the constraints of an old term, we should come up with a new one? Like, I dunno, "interactive media"?

I like my games to feel and look like games. I want ridiculous and bright colors because it keeps me happy compared to the bleak gritty realism of the city outside my window.
Interactive experiences are still enjoyable for their relaxation. Walking simulators, management simulators. its a way to destress rather than test your abilities.

I'm making a 3D model of a weapon, and I'm thinking that maybe making 3D models to turn them into sprites wasn't such a great idea. I'd probably be finished right now if it wasn't for this. Then again, I'd most likely obsess over perspective errors and things like that.
Maybe I should just make some rough outlines of shapes instead of trying to do as much work as possible in Blender. I can do low-poly models just fine, but curvy detailed stuff is another thing entirely.

I think I figured it out.
There's only one muzzle flash state field for each weapon, but some weapons have two flashes. Like, not one animation made of two frames, but two separate flashes, each one being called based on a certain condition.
The second one's default position in the state table is muzzle flash state + 1. It worked with the plasma gun's attack codepointer, even though I gave it to an entirely different weapon located pretty far from the original plasma gun states.
Not so simple with the chaingun attack. With the plasma attack, the muzzle flash is determined randomly each shot - it's either muzzle flash state or muzzle flash state + 1. The chaingun works like that:
The attack codepointer was called from the attack state = muzzle flash state for the flash
The attack codepointer was called from the attack state + 1 = muzzle flash state + 1 for the flash
And so on. I haven't looked at the code for a long time, so I thought that the attack state is being read from the weapon's properties, which would make sense. Nuh-uh. It's always 52. So the farther the actual attack states were from the state 52, the more ludicrous were the places the engine tried to find a muzzle flash in. Including going over the table's end and crashing the game.
Here's to even more unpleasantness when I test the fix for the first time.

That feeling when you DEHACKED, everything is so neat and the logic is sound, but things crap out in the most surreal way.

Good job to whoever posted that troll-ish comment in the Zauberer thread. I'm assuming that was the reason for the removal of certain information, while all the well-wishing for our weak-bladdered dissident remained in place.
Unless the paid Putin troll was lying, of course. Then it's all good.

The videos make that guy look like quite a troublemaker without a good cause. Some say it's almost like he deliberately performed a bunch of highly offensive acts hoping to become a refugee in another country. I'm not sure how much sympathy is deserved there. But I guess if you don't understand Russian it's harder to learn about the other side of this story since the information is so limited.

Is it April the 1st already? It kinda feels like April the 1st. Reputation? WTF have you done to my Doomworld??
