Sudokus can be broken to a handful of general rules that you just need to rigorously enough apply to all positions of the grid. It's not something where you actually need to think once you've got the basics down, it's more a matter of keeping things together in your head (or writing notes :P). I prefer crosswords where, occasionally, thinking is actually needed.

Sudoku is the Farmville of logic games: low quality and pointless.

Chess is still great after 8 years of playing. Sudoku would be lucky to even hold my attention past a television commercial.
