    Thanks :D By the way I'm currently searching for 1-2 playtesters, you dont need to give me advice about the layout or something after you played it, I just want some feedback on the difficulty. But please keep in mind that the map isn't finished at all and you might to use "give keys" to reach some areas :D
  2. Just started working on a new map of mine called "Lost Fortress". Its a MAP01 replacement for Doom 2 and one of my first maps with custom textures. Current completation: 10% (Updated 30th of March) The map features a cool very "greenish" style. I hope to complete it in a few days, maybe a few weeks.

    First of all, sorry for the doublepost but I really dont want to let this topic die like all my other ones :D So I just worked a little bit on the map and I recently finished a little cave. So nothing big to show but I just wanted to show off some new screens to keep this thing alive ;)

    Thank you! I know the texturealigment is a bit bad but I think I might correct it when the whole map's finished. Yeah I'll try to find a fitting replacement for that texture ;)

    Thank you :D Yeah I try to achieve a greenish style in the map but also do some theme-variation. New pic: Oh and might be important to say that the shown area isn't finished I still have to add some things I think :D
  6. Well how to start...ummm... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This started as a little project of mine a year ago. I only finished 3 maps until I didnt had any more ideas. Now I started a new E1-styled map and I though about making a little communityproject of it. The goal is easy: Recreate E1 as classicly as possible (Vanillacompatible) There are following rules: -No teleporters -No Plasmagun or BFG9000 -Barons only as endbosses Map list: -E1M1 [omegamer,WIP] -E1M2 [Katamori,finished] -E1M3 Free Slot -E1M4 Free Slot -E1M5 Free Slot -E1M6 Free Slot -E1M7 Free Slot -E1M8 Free Slot -E1M9 Free Slot Deadline would be the...ummm...30.4.2012 But should be long enough to make a simple E1 map. No new textures and sounds allowed only new music if it fits E1-style :D If youre interested post it. If we're done with it I will upload it to the archives! Screenies will be posted in a second post :D

    Katamori thx for your map :D EDIT: Just played it. Its really cool but would you mind if I remove the cacos they are more E2 style. I know the creates arent in the original E1 but well this is just about doing maps that feel like E1 maps, np if they use different tesxtures.

    Or join the Doomworld Mega Project. It has no specified theme and you can do small maps, big maps, shitty maps, epic maps whatever you want.

    A discussion on mapping difficulty

    Well depends on the skill of the mapper. If I do an easy map I do a map that I'm able to complete without losing 1% Life (Classic E1 maps you know :D). If I want to do something difficult I do the maps that they are even challenging for myself. I know a guy who is doing maps that he isnt able to complete himself, but I can do them. (Hes a N00b^^) The best way is to send a message to a person of the forum you like and invite this person to palytest your map to get feedback on the difficulty etc.)

    Nothing about you Black Lost Knight, but well. Since I know you personally I know that you didnt even played through Doom 1 or 2 you dont even know all the maps or even who made the game. Play the 2 games before doing maps just a tip ;-)

    How does this differ from...I don't know, almost any wad that's already in idgames? LOL EPIC FAIL hes a friend of mine but he still has to learn mapping
  19. TimeofDeath-could you make an E1 style map in doom2? I know some textures are missing from Doom1, but you could use only doom1 monsters? Yeah why not? I'll do one :-) Do you think of a deadline already?
  20. Yeah this looks really classic. I like the style it looks a bit generic but I really like the first screen of MAP01 even if its almost empty LOL. I always enjoy to see new Doom 1/Doom 2 vanilla WADs
  21. Oh man I would like to join if this would be a project for Doom 1, E1 style is where I'm good at but Doom 2...not really. :-(

    shorty400-Small Vanilla Doom2 maps

    So I've almost finished the first map I just have to add some more items and stuff. This is a screen from Doom Builder of the whole map: Unfortunaly it got EXTREMLY small but well I think this is ok for MAP01. For the other maps I could need to add a few less details, might be tricky. The map isnt really speedrunable because there will be monsters blocking your way all the time because its really tight. Well, I will try to make MAP02 much much bigger (Lets say like the original MAP02 of Doom2). I will upload the first map tomorrow so you can play it and maybe give me some feedback :D
