No Doom or Doom 2 levels ever creeped me out, to the best of my memory. There were probably maps that, had I been younger when I first played them, would have scared me to some degree.

I like Alpha Quadrant quite a bit, actually I like all the Doom64 tech maps :P What's yours?

For all the old hands who've been here a while, is there anyone who used to frequent these forums that you'd like or even love to see again?

I like the Archvile. I don't like how it's been abused lo these many years in countless wads and megawads. "Open up the blue skull-key door, OH EM GEE WOW ANOTHER FOUR OR FIVE ARCHVILES WOW THAT'S CREATIVE!!" Like other people have already said, if it's used sparingly and/or creatively, the Archvile's not a problem, to me at least.

Does anyone know where I can find the Doom64 textures/flats? I need them for a map I'm working on. I really don't need ALL of them, just the tech variety. Any help is appreciated.

I'm sure we've all had our fair share of computer woes - I know I have. I remember once back in 2003 my computer was full of viruses. I hadn't defragged or anything in a long time (stupid, I know). I had Windows98 SE (cue joke here) and whenever I got to the damned desktop, everything would freeze. Couldn't move the mouse cursor, couldn't do a damn thing. When I would push one of the keyboard's letter keys the contraption would beep at me, like "Fuck you!" Needless to say I was very pissed off. At the time I didn't have a CD writer in the computer and couldn't save anything and I knew I was going to have to format. It made me a very sad person :( I would love to hear you people's computer horror stories, I'm sure there's no shortage of them ;P

I used to do this a few years ago, before I joined here (way before that :P). I had Deepsea and what I did was just open the editor, and think up something. Then think of something that went along with it, and then just keep adding stuff. If I got stuck, I would open up Deepsea again and look at the map layouts of maps I was playing a lot and that I really liked. Then I would say to myself, Self, this section looks good in the editor. Maybe you should or could do something like that in your map you're working on. It seemed to work for me, at least. I am a very slow mapper. I average like five sectors an hour or something and even small maps take me forever :P

Or lack thereof. I have the latest ZDoom version, 2.4.1, and for whatever reason it doesn't come with a bots.cfg. I would love to play some DM in E1M1 but I can't get any bots to spawn. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you level makers out there suggest in the way of a Doom level editor?

Yay, finally more Heretic mappage!

Right, I got Doom Builder 2 downloaded and I quite like it. It seems pretty easy to use, though I still have to figure a few things out first.

Back when I was like 13 or 14, I played Doom for the first time on the Playstation (one). I was totally hooked - the graphics were awesome, the sounds were awesome, the music fucking rocked, and the game was fun as all hell. I got it for Christmas '96 and played it to the point where I started having Doom-themed dreams :D Then a few years later in '99 I played it (Ultimate Doom) for the first time on my then top-of-the-line computer (it seemed top-of-the-line to me at least). Tee-totally got hooked. From there it was no lookin' back. Been hooked on Doom for fourteen years now and I don't think it'll end any time soon.

I just always assumed that the Caco had one big green eye that never shut. The thing about the Barons wearing pants made me chuckle, heheh.

Baron of Hell probably cause I'm like eight feet tall and people think I'm scary and stuff cause I never say much. I don't have the big buffed-up build though, or the horns :(

See, it's shit like this that makes me ashamed of being Southern. It should, should, I say, should, make other Southerners feel the same way, but for some reason or other it probably won't :(

My favorite Doom music is Doom/Ultimate Doom E1M5 and E1M7, quite a bit of Doom64 (don't remember the map names/numbers heh) and PSX Doom tracks 1, 7 and 18. There's probably more but I don't remember now :(

I've been getting more into Cannibal Corpse these last few weeks. I think that's pretty metal. Then to, if you want to hear some metal that sounds even more evil, go listen to some Deicide, Vital Remains or Disgorge. Also, I'm sure at least one of you folks has heard of this band Opeth? They really really kick ass. Absolutely one of my favorite metal bands of all time, no question. I like metal music, I like the themes and the music itself obviously. Human beings will always be attracted to the dark side of our nature, whether they want to admit or not.

Just out of random curiosity, how tall are you people and what is your weight? If you're a girl then feel free to lie about your weight :P To start things off, I'm 6'7" with my shoes on (yes I'm fucking tall) and I weigh all of 210 lbs.
