where to begin to solve this problem

Thanks a lot, that's exactly what I needed. Out of curiosity, why can't you go under a cacodemon? Is there a way to make it so you can? Maybe this was a limitation of the original doom engine, but zdoom has room-over-room, and you can go under monsters that way, so seemingly there should be a way to go under a cacodemon in the same room.
  2. I'm looking for a way to make a cacodemon-like enemy that hugs that ceiling, that is, rises as high as possible almost instantly as it moves around to areas with different ceiling heights. I've looked into ACS and DECORATE, and I've looked at the DECORATE class for cacodemons and some other monsters. I'm not sure if there's a way to do what I want with those scripts alone. It looks like a I would need a code-pointer to the "rise as high as possible" behavior, but I don't know if such a thing exists. It looks like I would need to edit/add to the code the pointers point to. How do I do that? Or in general, where should I start to make this "ceiling hugging" behavior? I read something in reference to Aeons of Death about "simple, DECORATE-only monsters", as opposed to... ? Is there a more advanced and flexible way to edit monster behaviors than DECORATE? I'd like to get into that, because I'd like to make some monster behaviors very different than the standard ones.

how to beat chosen final snake boss

Um... no. I must be retarded. The snake never goes in the lava. I can push it back a little with the lightning staff, but it won't go over the edge of the lava pit. Dark spot in the middle of what? I'm not looking for a hint, I think I need a total, shameless SPOILER.
  5. I have searched but not found any thread that explains how to beat the snake boss in the Egyptian TC Chosen. How do you do it? I've read that it involves environment interactivity, but nothing appears to be usable, nothing appears to be affected by my weapons (not even the Scarab staff they keep giving me ammo for), the snake gets pushed back by the lighting staff but won't fall into the lava, taking him across the bridges over lava does nothing, winding his tail around pillars does nothing... I'm drawing a blank here. Can someone spell out what I'm supposed to do?

    TC-like wads

Thanks for the suggestions. I've played Happy Time Circus and I liked it a lot. I've read there was supposed to be a sequel, but I can't find where to download it. I didn't mean to imply Urban Brawl was a joke wad, just that it's comedy, kind of a satire of '90s beat-em-ups.

Never mind, once again, figured it out.

    TC-like wads

Never mind, as usual, posting a question results in immediately figuring out the answer - it wasn't an adjacent tile killing me, it was my next step off the tiles. But now I'm stuck again, in a more open-ended way. SPOILER ALERT I have the sand, skull, and diamond, and the book that allows me to translate the one on the altar, and I've just read the one on the altar about using the sand, skull, and diamond to summon Thamuz. So... how do I actually summon Thamuz? How do I use the items? I can't select them from inventory.

    TC-like wads

I'm playing City of the Damned: Apocalypse right now, and it's another good example of the kind of wad I'm looking for - TC or close-to-TC, unique and interesting situations. By the way, I'm also stuck. I searched for the answer to my question on these forums, but couldn't find it. How do you get past the church puzzle? I've traversed a path across the tiles that almost gets to the arrow on the other side (2 tiles short), but now every tile adjacent to my path kills me, and I can't jump over deadly tiles. What am I missing here?

    TC-like wads

Hello. I'm looking for wads which are as different as possible from the original game (and still good, of course.) It doesn't have to be a strict total conversion; it can use some of the original assets, as long as it adds a lot of new ones. A good example of what I mean is Legacy of Suffering. You may say this is not very different from original doom in terms of gameplay, but it does have new enemies, weapons, textures, visual effects, room-over-room, extensive scripting, and other advanced gzdoom features. I guess I'm looking for wads that are at least as different from doom as LOS, if not more so. I prefer "modern", "good-looking" wads as opposed to old and/or bizarre/joke wads like Sky May Be, Mockery, etc. Although, I did really like Urban Brawl - that may fall into bizarre/joke, but it's very well made and interesting. So, any suggestions?
