    Thanks Gez youre a star Actually Ive got some new music working nicely using the mapinfo file - its just an MP3 of birdsong... Problem is my sky1 has now disappeared: its there in the wad but its gone from the game... any thoughts?

    Did anyone see this post? Is there a way of exporting the Doom palette so it can be used by eg Paintshop Pro or one of the others? Thanks

    Coming back to the iwad v pwad thing - sorry if this sounds basic but doesnt using a pwad for making and storing new levels mean that the player has to have their own copy of doom already? Is that the main issue here ie its about copyright issues etc?? Is that what greyghost means when he talks about shame?

    I'll have a look at that tree in a second... Should it be straightforward to change an existing graphic - say one of the trees in the doom wad - and to do this without having to change the decorate code - assuming its the same size? I say this because I tried this and it worked except that my new graphic didnt stay in one place - it seemed to follow the player as they ran about... Thanks

    I ve sussed out how to draw maps and put new textures in them...but I cant find guidance on creating or replacing (either will do) the things descrbed as obstacles or decorations. I basically want to make some trees for my game level. I'm aware that (I think) you have to use the decorate function for them to work in zdoom but I cant find a newbie tutorial on this...any pointers please?? thanks

    OK thanks for the advice... I have to say I think Ive learnt the hard way... I was getting I/O errors with XWE yesterday when it was open and sharing files with Doombuilder - it didnt want to close and it hanged more than twice...Is this a problem that is recognised??? Now my PC is freezing at random - playing games, vids or just going on youtube it'll freeze Ive made a level in Doom thats pretty neat but at what price?? And I dont have a system restore I can use...

    Why not? What should I do instead? I wanted to use alot of my own textures and it seemed easiest to use XWE to import them into the main doom wad... And what are all the back up files for exactly? Do I still need them? Thanks
  11. Ive been using Doombuilder today to build a big outdoor map...and Ive noticed 10 or more files have been generated in the process...called wad.backup and wad.001.new etc... What are they for? Should they be deleted? I say this because when I tried to delete them I noticed that the sound stopped working on my level - so I undeleted them and the sound has come back but Ive got like 200mb of wads there! Any suggestions? Thanks

    OK...so there is nt a way of opening a Doom map, say the first level, E1M1, in Doom in Hexen format - you'd have to write it from scratch...(which no doubt someone has done...) But I think that answers my original question...

    OK thanks...basically I want to make a Doom mod that is nearly all outdoors - and I figured hexen is better for making slopes and stuff...which will be best for a landscape type feel.. So whats the best way to use Doombuilder to do this?? Which wads have to be loaded and how?? Thanks a lot

    Hi Its easy enough to play and modify hexen levels using zdoom (doom in hexen format) but I cant see how to load doom levels/maps in hexen format so that the Doom HUD and start up screens etc are visible...Am i missing something here? Thanks
