  2. So recently I gave in and bought a console, specifically a gamecube. In the past I didnt want to get noe because I dont want to deal with hooking it up to a television. I'd looked into methods of connecting a GC to a VGA monitor but they were all expensive and not without flaws. Later on I was speaking to Gooberman on IRC when he mentioned that he has his GC hooked up to a TV capture card. After some quick searching I found a cheapo capture card for ~$30 and bought it, along with:

    • Platinum Gamecube
    • 16x Memory Card
    • S-Video Cable
    • RCA to 1/8" stereo converter (this was hard to find)
    • Zelda: The Wind Waker
    • Metroid Prime
The TV card has a radio reciever but I dont think I'll bother with it. The S-Video cable has felt like a waste as I cannot tell the difference between the s-video quality and the standard composite cable. Zelda has been kinda weak so far but Metroid Prime is awesome and Im amazed at how comfortable the controls are. All in all, fun is being had. Total cost was under $200

One weird thing did happen though. I bought the GC and zelda at a local Gamestop and upon returning home, I noticed that there was an extra item in the bag. It turned out to be a copy of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for the PS2! I quickly pulled out and inspected my receipt but the game was not listed. As best as I can tell, the guy just accidently dropped it into my bag or something while handling my merchandise. Unfortunately I dont have a PS2 nor do I plan to ever buy one. So now I have to find someone who wants a free PS2 game and hasnt played this one.

Also I went to a local H&R block and did my taxes today. I'll be recieving a return totaling $8,491. Not too shabby.

Finally, here's a picture of what the back of my machine looks like with all this crazy crap plugged into it:

  3. It finally took me over a month and a half to finally get off my ass and read guitar tabs instead of randomly guessing frets that barely resemble anything. As a result, I attempted a bit of Nirvana - Downer:

I edited out the transition from non-distortion to distortion. Other than that, I did all of it in one go.

  5. My '88 Acura Integra wasn't cutting it. It didn't feel safe and wasn't very reliable so I bought another car. I picked up a 2000 Toyota Corolla with 60,000 miles for about 8,000-something. I really like it since it's got great fuel economy (about 28 mpg in the city and up to 42 mpg on the highway), comfortable and just a good balance all around. Heh, I hope the car lasts as long as my payments.

  6. You know, more and more I've been questioning the whole "so-and-so company is evil" thing... Like, yeah, sure, I guess to some extent many of these companies are evil, but compared to what? Nobody ever points out "Oh, but this mega-corporation is okay." Also, I've noticed that the trend seems to be that as soon as any business becomes big enough, it's automatically labelled as evil. Microsoft, EA, McDonalds, Wal-Mart, etc... Maybe this is because their evilness put them on top, or maybe it's because it's at that point that people begin to notice it. Not that I in any way condone their behavior, but it seems suspicious that the biggest ones are always the ones singled out for attacks. To me it appears that the problem is with the system, not those who use it to their advantage, but I don't know.

  13. As Im sure you all noticed, I was gone for a few days. I can only imagine how much pain this caused everyone at the forums. But dont worry, Im back to set things right!

I was away at seattle for a few days. It's the farthest I've ever been from home. Hell it's on the opposite side of the country from where I live. While there I stayed with Sargebaldy and Danarchy.

    Here's some pictures!

The city is quite cool (although nothign can ever be as cool as hometown NYC). And I had a lot of fun. Saw all the important attraction except the underground city tour. But overall Im totally glad I went.

  14. Yesterday morning it began to snow good for the first time in awhile. They had said the previous day that we may be getting a lot of snow, and it was true. It snowed all day yesterday and the snow was really getting up there. Me and my friends went sledding on a really good hill in my area. It must have snowed all last night to, because this morning it's crazy! We let our dogs out and when they go into the yard, the snow basically goes up to their bodies and they can hardly walk! This is like 1998 all over again!

  16. I finally decided to submit one of my video game remixes to http://remix.kwed.org last week. As of right now, it's right there on the front page for you to download (192k MP3, lo-fi streaming only). I doubt most people know what game I remixed, though, so...

At any rate, comments are welcome. Now let's see if OCRemix greenlighted their copy.

  17. I live in Wisconsin, a proud state, a fucking cold state. We the proudest state of alcoholic beverages, very proud of our Badger(and Packer- I dispise the Packers though) team and proud of our farms. But on the back of our new quater coins piss me off, makes us look... it pisses me off too much to think of the word. A cow, a stalk of corn, and a block of cheese- FUCKING DISGUSTING! Put a fucking can of beer on there or a badger head- but hey at least they didn't put a G on the back, or Brett Favre for that fact. It's about 1 outside and it's fucking snowing- the worst precipitation ever. Anyone else care to chastize their state please feel free to do so here, if you'd like to defend your state- good for you.

  18. And other interested viewers of course.

I just wanted to show an EBM band that doesn't take itself too seriously.

  20. Alright, so case one, I wake up bright and early and get a head start on the day. I start off by taking a shower and then making oatmeal in a fantastic mood (pretty rare for me) And then lo and behold I drop it flat on the kitchen tiled floor, making the china bowl break into billions of pieces and the hot oatmeal go everywhere, including on my foot. Ok so my foot was burned, not that bad, and luckily it broke on the tile than on the carpet, so I clean that up and then I hear that one of the parrots I own has gotton out and SHIT all over the room. So I go there and clean it up, about 30 minutes behind now.

Case 2, I actually get done with my daily homeschooling work a tad late due to the inconvienence above, then I go outside for a walk and the ENTIRE yard is filled with holes from the multiple dogs I own. I don't even bother to fill them in because the case with these dogs is that if you fill them in, they notice their holes gone and dig em back up! I ignore the holes and not 5 mintues later when I get on IRC then my dad orders me to do it.

Case 3! My website takes an absolute SHIT on the server it's on, causing everything to meltdown practically. So I begin pouring (sp?) through the database and of course then is when i'm distracted by my sister blowing up her computer and a lovely blue screen of death. I come back to my computer 5 minutes later and start working on it again, and finally fix the site, but then i'm nailed to the cross by my mom for having a bad attitude throughout the day. And here I am going 'HELLO, I was FINE this morning, doing EXCELLENT in fact, until all THIS SHIT happens.' But she doesn't care, and here I am awaiting final restriction from the computer for days, and all of THIS happens during my week to review wads.

    Isn't life just fucking lovely?

  21. There are allot of people out there who are hating or ruining Doom for one reason or another. All those mother against violence are pissing me off, as a member once replied to a certain forum- video games are great for venting out anger. As I see it and many others see it, better on the screen than in the home. You get to do anything with out worry of consequences. For those who blame video games for your actions(or any other entertainment) you need help, seriously. If you try things on video games in real life than you're too fucked up to be playing them, you need to use reasoning power or common sense. For all the parents, if your kid is acting in that manner get them help- don't blame or point the finger at video games, it's not the games fault. If you(your kid) can't distinguish fantasy from reality you(they) need to seek professional help. Everyone pointed the finger at Marilyn Manson, Video Games, and Rock N Roll for the school shootings. It's all horse shit, none of them told anybody to shoot people in real life. And for anyone who says video games rot the mind, look into it. Sure sitting close or looking at a screen MAY damage the eye but your brain won't suffer. Drinking, smoking, drugs- all damage(rot) the brain, not video games. Video games do improve the mind- strategy, quick thinking, patience, hand-eye coordination, reasoning. You don't have to look that deep to see how video games don't ruin anything. Oh yeah, get your schooling done before you play, seriously.
