    A TC!!

Wait 'till they see what I've been working on, heh heh heh. Not that I'm going to spill the beans about it yet, mind you, but I've probably come up with the strangest, wackiest, most bizarre, insane idea for a TC ever!

    csdoom with zdoomgl?

I'm pretty sure you can't. CSDOOM uses a separate .EXE file than ZDOOM. It is based on ZDOOM, but it is different, and regular ZDOOM or ZDOOMGL can't do CSDOOM.
  3. I don't know about the community, but I'm definitely going to still play DOOM 1 and 2 after DOOM 3 comes out. Of course, that's mainly because my computer probably won't be able to run it, but even if I do get a better computer or something by that time, I will still allow DOOM and DOOM 3 to coexist, and not give preference to either one. It's just like with DOOM 1 and 2, or all the source ports, I don't have preferences, I just use them all because they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I'll bet I'm not the only person who feels this way, so I'm not really that worried about the DOOM community breaking up. And as we all learned recently, even the Wolfenstein community is still active to some extent, and if there's still people who play and modify Wolfenstein, I'm sure DOOM 1 and 2 will be OK.

    DOOM addiction

It is not. I could stop playing any time if I wanted to. OK, now by replying to your message I've wasted valuable time that could be spent playing DOOM.

    DOOM will never die

Lately, there's been a lot of talk about DOOM dying. I personally can't believe that anyone who loves DOOM can actually say something like that. Sure, new games keep coming out that make DOOM look like something a little kid programmed, and sure, DOOM doesn't have the following that it used to, but I believe that as long as there are people playing DOOM and modifying DOOM and loading up their favorite level editors to make their houses in DOOM, and as long as there are people with computers that are too slow to run newer games, DOOM will never die.

    how old

Hey I'll be 17 in approximately 3 weeks, too. What a strange coincidence.

    What an idea I've had...

All I really want is a source port with MD2 support in software mode. My 3D GFX card is extremely horrible and I'm lucky to run any game with OpenGL at 1 FPS.

    Plot Idea:-

Hey I like the idea of being the Captain, someone who has never fought the Demons before, that would definitely be a change of pace from the old "for the 5 billionth time you have to go save the world" crap that seems to always be the story for every modification for DOOM I play. Also, maybe there could be a guest appearance by Flynn Taggart, where just as it seems you're a gonner he shows up to the rescue. That would kick butt!

    dehacked question

Um... I don't think it's possible to stop the bullet puffs from moving upward, and I believe the reason for two sections w/bullet puffs in frame tables is that one is bullet puffs and the other is the revenent rocket trail.

    DoomCad Boom support?

I want to use Boom special linedefs and such in DoomCad, and I was wondering if anyone has made a configuration file for DoomCad with Boom support. I know it can be done, and I'll do it myself if it hasn't already been done, but if it has I really don't want to go to all the extra effort to edit it and add all those countless special linedefs and whatnot.

    I want to start

Wow. I believe that these posts have had the least to do with DOOM in general ever, never mind the original post about wanting to edit the DOOM source code, unless you're implying that he should only edit it while drunk, and that would probably get some VERY strange results. I hate beer, BTW.

    HELP

Did you make sure that movement is unlocked? DoomCad has a lock buttton(it looks like a lock) that you can press to keep from moving objects when you are say changing textures. Just click on it to turn the movement-locking off.

    Ultimate DOOM servers, please

Would someone PLEASE create an Ultimate DOOM server? I would create my own, but I've only got a 56K modem(remember when people considered that fast?) I'm really desperate here. I love Ultimate DOOM but I have not seen a server for it in a LONG time. In case anyone's wondering, all you have to do is copy all your csDOOM and ZDOOM files into your Ultimate DOOM directory to create a server.

    The requirements for Doomgod status...

Well, I think that anyone who still plays DOOM despite the newer games that have come out and the fact that it is over 5 years old definitely qualifies to be a DOOM god, or at least maybe a demigod.

    HEY I NEED HELP

Well, for the imp shooting rockets problem, there are two options. You can copy the rocket info to the imp fireball info, or you can change the frame code pointer, which sounds more like what you were trying to do. To do that, go to the frames menu, and go down to the second imp attack frame. Go to the far left column, which says Code Pointers and has very big numbers. Press enter and type 685(Cyber demon's firing code pointer) and the imp will shoot rockets without looking like a cyberdemon.

    It was a weird guy.

    Enemies from where?

OK, with DOOM 3 we're going to need some sort of story, but before we can come up with that, we really need to figure this out: WHERE DID THE MONSTERS COME FROM??? I have 3 theories: A: They are literally from Hell B: They are interdimensional aliens who look like they are from HELL C: They are mutation of the original marines sent to test the interdimensional portals being created on Phobos and Deimos caused by a combination of the unstable nature of interdimensional travel and all that radioactive waste being dumped there. Anyone else have any ideas?

    Really Interesting word in here.

I congratulate you both for even trying to spell that word, which I will not mention because I won't even try to spell, because if I did my fingers would get all tangled and I'd be confused and wouldn't be able to play DOOM.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a list of the frame code pointers in dehacked and what they do?

Funnest thing to do in Doom

I like to go to automap, type IDDT twice so that THINGS show up in automap, and shoot my weapons. The different trails each one makes in automap is cool to watch.

    Strangest/Most Amusing DOOM occurances. :-b

Actually, the name of the Zombie thingies is Former Humans. I was playing a PWAD for Ultimate DOOM called base.wad(base2.zip at FTP.CDROM.COM) and there was one section with a hall with 3 cacodemons at the end and the hall was full of barrels. One time the cacos got too close to the barrels and they shot at me, causing the barrels to explode, after which ALL THREE began attacking each other. I tried repeating it but so far have been unsuccessful. From now on I'm playing with -devparm so that I can take screenshots of funny things.

    Evil&Good

Each situation is different, and you never gave any specific examples, so there's no clearcut answer. Like, if you went back in time to before Hitler got into power, and killed him, that would be evil, but you would have saved millions of lives and prevented World War II, which is good, and so that would be acceptable. But if the evil outweighs the good, then you have just made the situation worse, not better, like the post earlier about killing 30 people to save a tree. You lose 30 people for 1 tree, and that is wrong. It would not be right to sacrifice 30 people for 1 million trees because killing a person is way different than killing a tree. So if your're asking whether it is OK to ever use evil for good, the answer is yes, but not in every situation.
