1.Maybe you play gleefully away at 15fps, but i dont, and ithink you'll find most other people dont aswell as people expect higher standards from games nowadays. 2.A gf3 ti500 runs it at 30fps all details on supposedly, whats a geforce 1/2 gonna run it at looking half decent? 25-30fps? 3.Oh and btw, i aint whining as i have a gf4 ti4200 so i have no reason to, i just think that its bad if you need a geforce3 to run it

    Matrox Parhelia

Why buy the new ATi card when nVIDIA will probably release geforce 5 soon etc etc, with that attitude you would never upgrade plus the gf4ti's are excellent cards and if the radeon 8500 is any indication, i wouldnt be to excited, it just cant keep up with the ti4600

    Wow, a new forum

yeah i said "only run decently", noone wants to play a game at less than 30fps, even Doom 3 i would bet, and since it doesnt run very well on these cards, which a lot of people still have, they wont sell as many copies

    Wow, a new forum

all i can say to ID is good luck selling Doom 3 if it will only run decently on a gf3/4 considering a huge amount of PC users have gf1/2 still and probably will when it comes out
  8. Darkhound

    What about this?

yeah probably, i was just thinking of how dsm said "the game" will only be able handle 5 enemies...plus engines must only be able to handle a certain amount of detail etc comfortably, thats why you get good and bad engines
  9. Darkhound

    What about this?

apparently Carmack has said "the engine can handle any number of monsters, its our PC's that are too slow

    NEW (FAKE) DOOOOOOM PIC

it is a shot from doom 3, anyone who reads PC mags [pcgamer, pcformat and pcg all featured this pic - and they also talked to ID so i think its real], its actually a pic of one of the marines you go in with, after everything has turned nasty, - in those screenshots of the marinee, and the videos, you see him slowly turn into something very similiar to this...it also wears the same uniform as the marine before he changed P.S i might be wrong so dont flame me but im 85% sure im not

    What about this?

hmm i dont agree, in a game like doom 3, they are trying to scare you with a sinister and dark atmosphere as one of the main selling points.. games that have level 1, level 2 etc never acheive this, take all "scary" games [this isnt my opinion of what a scary game is just examples from popular opinion] such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, AvP2 to name but a few. None of them had "levels" they were all just one ongoing story.. the sense of fear is shattered when you get to a screen with kill stats etc. Its much better in my opinion to immerse the player in one stoy, because thats what its meant to be. Splitting it into levels only takes away from the atmosphere of a game You say that its impossible for them to overaccumulate while dead if they dont overaccumulate while alive. Its not the two single items [dead and alive] that cause the problem. If the computer is only having to draw live enemies, it can put the power that would have been used on the dead enemies [which you cant even see anymore so why do you care?] into the surrounding scenery and other things, therefore increasing performance, mainly fps. Although if it has to draw live and dead enemies, it takes away from the available power decreasing performance
