Yeah, go easy on me. I don't know a Quadro 6000 from a Powercolor AX5770.

So you think I should replace my CPU and install a discrete graphics card?
-
Thanks for the input. Yes, the one I have is an integrated graphics card. I really don't know much about modern gaming, so a lot of these terms are new to me. Could I get away with simply replacing the graphics card with one of the cards that have been suggested, or do I need to do more? As far as memory space goes, I think I have about 80 gigs free.

I've heard that there are a few emulators that you can download that allow you to play certain old school games on a PC. Specifically, I'm looking for Mortal Komabat 1 and 3...can anyone recommend any sites?

Sorry if this has been asked a lot. I wasn't sure how to search for this. If I run Doom 3 at full screen, I get very slow and choppy gameplay, even with the lowest graphic settings. I have the screen as small as it will go (something like 600 x 800) and it runs pretty well. My specs are: Windows 7 64 bit Pentium Dual CPU E2200 2.2 Ghz NVIDIA GeForce 7100/nForce 630i 3G RAM Is this enough to run the game well, or do I need to get more memory or something?

Yeah, Plutonia's pretty solid.

So I'm playing Requiem, and I've heard that this megawad introduced concepts like faked 3D bridges. I just played Town of the Dead (Map 13), which apparently has a couple of these. My question is, why are these referred to as "faked 3D" bridges?" Doesn't the original Doom have 3 dimensional architecture, including bridges?

I like Final Doom. It's probably the one I played the most when I was a kid, next to the original Doom, of course. There definitely is some filler, but I think between both "episodes" there are around 30 really good maps. I just finished playing Plutonia for the first time in years. I forgot how challenging it is at times. I've never been able to beat map 30 with no cheats...I've seen demos, so I know it's possible, but jeez that map is crazy. I remember as a kid, I preferred Evilution, because I was really into the futuristic techbase maps, and it was also something I could beat with no cheat codes. I think I gained more appreciation for Plutonia this time around; very few of the maps are actually bad, and maps like Speed, Compound, Tombstone, and Anti-Christ are just excellent. It's been a while since I played Evilution, but I remember really liking Wormhole, Lunar Mining Project, Ballistyx, Heck, and Nukage Processing.

I see. Thanks. Maybe I'll try doing that for Daedalus as well, since that WAD was also glitching on me.

I'm using ZDoom, and I'm not using any cheats.

Has anyone else found this map to be very glitchy? I just played it, and I found 3 points where I'll literally sink into the floor and start being attacked by a creature. 1) At the beginning, I entered the building, hit the two switches and entered the room with the lava pit. Directly in front of me were 4 shotgun shells. I stepped onto them and sank into the floor as though i were using noclipping mode, and a Hell Knight (apparently located beneath the floor boards) started scratching me. 2) Adjacent to the lava room, there's a room with a pool of water with a Medkit in the center. I hit a switch causing a circular staircase to rise. I walked up the steps to a sort of balcony, overlooking an outdoor area. I sank into the floor again, and got chaingunned. 3) There's a room made out of black and white stone. Imps are attacking from behind bars. To reach a switch at the top of the room, I have to activate a staircase. I ascend the staircase, move towards the switch and I again sink into the floor to be attacked by Hell Knights. These bugs aren't mentioned in the Doom Wiki. Has anyone else encountered them?

What are the Costello novels?

I should have thought of that. Thanks!

So i just downloaded Requiem, and it's playing the Doom 2 music in each map. I see another wad file in the folder that I downloaded called reqmus.wad. I can only assume this contains the music. I have both WADs in the same folder, the same one containing the ZDoom executable. To play, I'm dragging the Requiem wad onto ZDoom.exe and going from there. Is there a step that I'm missing? Sorry if this is a dumb question, and thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah, the books were weird. Especially the fourth one, which has practically nothing to do with the game at all.
