    Terri Schiavo :(

Schiavo. And she can't do anything about anything. She can't think, see, talk, hear, feel pain, she's not aware of anything. That's no way to 'live'.

    Get Your Ass to Phobos!

Phobos, from the makers of RTC3057 and also known as the last remaining Doom 3 project, have a progress update for you to look at and read and stuff. News includes a new member and some sweet concept sketches. If you guys don't finish this, I'm gonna have to choke a bitch!

97 Bottles of Beer on the Wall

Eh, it's still Doom, though I suppose it depends on your definition of what Doom is, but it's not really any less Doom than jDoom or ZDoomGL is. Those don't use the original rendering engine either. You wont really notice any changes with polymost except you'll be able to look up and down without any gross y-shearing. Movement, monster behavior, and so on will remain the same. The floating point thing, as explained in Randy's update, is more useful from a programming perspective. Players, or even wad editors, won't notice any changes, but if you regularly look at the source code or make additions, they'll be easier to put in now. The code is also a lot easier to read simply because you don't have to wade through five lines of calculations or write five lines of calculations before, as in the example, making a Lost Soul fly towards its target.
  5. That's right! It was shocking news to me as well. Anyway, welcome DW's latest hosted site to the ever-growing list of unfinished, lost and abandoned projects and ideas that were never fully realized. Sounds exciting, no? The future is a bleak place, my friends. Anyway, hopefully Team Visplane Overflow will not meet the same fate as many other abandoned projects which shall remain nameless, though I'm not quite sure why the team would want to name themselves after a crash message, but I suppose that's their prerogative. Check out the site for all the latest news and developments with the team including upcoming releases, tutorials, reviews and articles.

    Stack Dump

Over at the site of my good buddy SoM, you can see a couple screenshots of the in-development version of Eternity featuring stacked sectors, or portals or whatever the hell you want to call them. Of course Eternity has already had them for a few months now, but this is significant because you can now stack a sector on top and bottom! That's like making a sandwich out of a Doom map! I'm not sure where I'm going with this, so just check out the screenshots you punks.

    Bots Don't Work

Soon I won't be able to say that to Carn and watch the little vein in his forehead pulsate like... something that pulsates. Not that I still won't do it, but it just won't have the same impact. The new Skulltag Website is up, along with news that the next version of the other popular online Doom multiplayer engine based on ZDoom will be out in a week! Not ZDaemon you big sillies, this update is about Skulltag. Also I think you still have time to enter that banner contest Manc updated about a couple days ago. So hop to it!

actually the term 'stacked sectors' really comes from the build engine, which did all this before doom ever dreamed of it :P

    First Picture From Doom Movie!!!!!!

^^^^ Chuck Noris And the Rock actually can act, but his range is pretty limited (pretty much limited to huge quiet guy (like in the Rundown) or a variation of the character he played in the WWF (which is something like raging moron in a speedo)). He's certainly a better actor than Ahnuld, and everyone loves him, rite? I think there's animosity because he was a wrasler. I mean come on, people love Hulk Hoagan but not the Rock? It's all the same retarded crap, you were just younger when you saw the Hulkster so he seemed cool, but he was really lame. PS - they could have teraformed Mars!

How do you view the Netherlands?

oh god, you get michael jackson stories on your front pages too? I am so sick of that dumb fuck and his moronic leigons of fans.
  18. http://www.darkhorizons.com/2005/hitchhiker/guide1.jpg http://www.darkhorizons.com/2005/hitchhiker/guide2.jpg Marvin's head is kinda way too big, and Zaphoid is missing his second head (which isn't a huge deal as it was always a minor detail in the books) but the second shot looks really sweet. I can't wait! Please don't let them have butchered Adams' script too much :( phantom edit: http://cyb.vect.org:8080/pics/guide1.jpg http://cyb.vect.org:8080/pics/guide2.jpg

    Do you believe in God?

First off, passing in the house does not mean it will become a law. It still has to get past the senate, and the margin of victory in the House was only 24 votes, so it will be very close. Second off, I don't really see a problem with this. As an atheist I'd never work for a faith-based orginization, and I don't really see a reason they'd want to hire me seeing as I don't have any faith. It's a conflict of interest, plain and simple. Also kudos on generalizing working for a faith-based org as getting a job in general. Jobs here simply don't ask you anything about your religion or beliefs when you apply for them unless the job, you know, actually has to do with a religion or belief, much like working for a faith-based orgninzation would be. (btw I don't really think any sort of discrimnatory org should actually get government funding, but I respect their right to discriminate ;)
  20. ^^^^^ fine with me on a not-really-related note, my mail server is broken at the present time, so I can only send mail but not get any, so just to be safe whenever I get map30 you should send it to mike.watson@gmail.com instead of cyb@vect.org. I could conceivably have it fixed within a day or two if I get off my butt, but better safe than sorry.
  21. That's Humma Kavula, played by John Malkovich. He's a new character to the series and I believe he's some sort of religious cult leader.
  22. http://bvim-qt.vitalstream.com/HitchhikersGuide/HG2G_Trailer2_0197_3000.mov super-hires version of the second trailer. lots of good stuff in it for only a couple frames during the end part.

    Doom: RoE Interview

If you just can't hear enough crap about the upcoming Doom 3 expansion pack Resurrection of Evil, then IGN has the interview for you. It's with id's designer guy Matt Hooper (who is also the executive producer of RoE), and goes into the basics of the expansion, comparisons to Half-Life 2 and the grav gun, inspiration from movies and other games and even some bits about the also upcoming Doom movie.
