Things about Doom you just found out

They call themselves "volunteers" on there, too. It just sometimes feels like a fan club mentality where they consider information added by said volunteers more reliable than actual facts. Bit more on topic, anybody ever saved the wad from this post? Not really something about Doom itself, but in recent weeks I discovered that classic Doom on PC, whether source port or DOSBox, are giving me really annoying motion sickness. I don't get it from any of the console versions I've tested. Actually same thing is happening just by watching youtube vids.

How Bad Is The Doom Subreddit?

Haven't really paid much attention to the meme posts, but of the threads I've seen there, it was astounding how so many posts had misconceptions about the classic Doom games, ports, source ports, etc. Not deliberate misinformation, but it's like they know so little about the games.

    Doom SNES Hacking Guide/Documentation

+1, especially given they were originally in SNES Doom during development in whatever capacity. I've wanted to try SNES renditions of the cut maps for a long time.

    Doom SNES Hacking Guide/Documentation

^Agreed. These are some exciting developments and a really good reason for me to get back to SNES Doom again so soon.

Thoughts on Doom 64's Lost Levels?

About halfway through now and love what I've played so far. Design-wise, it definitely lives up to the legacy of the original at the very least. No doubt more challenging, too. Only gripes, which are minor, would be that at 6 maps, yeah it's kind of short (is there a chance we'll see more?! ;) ); a little bit like the few posts above, I would have liked to see some of the cut monsters, even in any capacity. But honestly, these aren't even that considerable. The bigger thing to address is possible mapping mistakes I found by chance, one of them being pretty critical.

    Doom 64 (2020) issues

Found another error in Evil Sacrifice. From the underground area at the bottom of the stairs at the start, when you're getting back out of there, you need to ride a lift, that rises and lowers fast, back to the stairs. If you walk onto the lift to trigger it to rise, then quickly get off it, its front side is missing a texture and has the default "I suck at making maps" on it.

Anybody who played lost levels can confirm the problem with the map in my previous post?

    Doom 64 (2020) issues

No, I'm just going straight to New Game or loading any save games. Tried different combinations with save slots, still doesn't keep the menu when closing and re-entering the game.

Just tried that, didn't work unfortunately.

    Doom 64 (2020) issues

On Switch, if I use a password to unlock the cheat menu, is there a way to save it? I already got it by beating Hectic, but it somehow disappeared and don't feel like going through the level again.

Doom 64 coming to PC and modern consoles?

Yeah i should have quoted the post i was replying for context. I did beat Hectic the hard way. So it looks like im not the only one who encountered that problem. Mine though, it happened before even beating the game.

Doom 64 coming to PC and modern consoles?

I'm playing the Switch version. I never really paid attention to this detail, or just forgot after playing through for a while. But if I load a save game, during the level, should it be in the menu? I'm at Burnt Offerings now, and the Features is not there.

Doom 64 coming to PC and modern consoles?

Is the Features Menu not saved in a save game? I unlocked it by beating Hectic, gotten through a lot of the levels without paying much attention to the pause menu, but now see that I don't have it anymore.

High end video game yard sale

Yeah as Doomkid said, try some options online like certain forums. Another one to ask on is videogamesage.com, the userbase there is large and there are always people looking to purchase items, so you might even find someone on there who's local.

Doom 64 coming to PC and modern consoles?

Playing this on Switch and having a blast. Playing on Watch Me Die and like I did on the original N64 controller, using none of the sticks for movement. Just got through the first level and Hectic, the rest of the main game should be smooth to get through. Really excited to get to the new maps.

Does anyone think that DOOM 64 sucks?

Though I didn't beat the game in the 90's, I sure did by the time I got to it in the early 2000's. Most people hate the N64 controller and can't play Doom 64 with it, but I guess I had luck in using a control config that works best for me. Always used the d-pad, never the stick, and managed to pistol start all the maps on Watch Me Die.
  19. Only played Blood, Duke3D and SW. Off the bat, I'm going with Blood for most of these just because of how quirky the mechanics in the game are, making most of the weapons just too powerful. 1: Pitchfork. If you use the right maneuver, it wrecks most enemies in the game, save cultists. But even Cultists if you sneak attack, they fold. Sure it's a slow process, but it saves all the ammo in the world. It even makes a joke out of Cheogsh and Cerberus. The Katana+Fist comes to a close second. 2: Flare Gun. Again because of how effective and efficient it is against a lot of the enemies. 3: Double Barrel Shotgun. It looks and feels the best to use, just something about it. Also, it pretty much functions as a pistol, shotgun and super shotgun, making it so versatile. 4: Tie between Tommy Gun and the Chaingun Cannon. The former mows down crowds, stun locks the cultists and even makes them sometimes retreat like wimps, can be fired in single/short bursts to snipe enemies with minimal loss of accuracy similar to the Doom Chaingun; downside is it burns through ammo. Latter because it's damaging yet balanced, also clears crowds, has cool design. Conversely, the low pain state of the enemies in Duke means they can get one off on you, especially the hitscanners; Enforcers are the worst with next to no pain chance, I prefer the Shotgun on them. 5: RPG. Consistently the most useful of the three games, IMO. Blood can either be too powerful (1 shot nearly every enemy by a direct hit), or too inconsistent (blast damage obliterates some, but does nearly nothing to others). 6: Dynamite set. You get 3 options to choose from and it incorporates the Pipe Bomb fully, and the Sticky Bomb partly. Plus the combinations with the alt fire make it way too fun as tactical weapons. 7: Shrink Ray. Great concept and deflates the Commanders and Mini Battlelords. Also useful on groups of Enforcers in close range where other weapons won't cut it. 8: Tesla Cannon. Cripples the Hell Hounds, but also really good on most enemies and bosses. It just wrecks everything. 9: Guardian Head, mainly due to the primary and tertiary fire. Also a neat concept. 0: Voodoo Doll. Speaks for itself, but... Very dangerous against most enemies and even bosses, has neat death animations for many of them, works kind of like a sniper rifle/accurate hitscan weapon. Overall, I find myself using most of the weapon set in Blood very regularly compared to the other 2.

Playing Doom 64: Absolution (Outcast levels) in 2019

Even on the old Doom64ex forums, someone converted and posted the Outcast maps and that was back around 2013. I don't know if that was also Nevander, but clearly there was no problem then either.
