    Is SNES doom bad?

    SNES Doom is like a very simplified version of its true self along with some previously mentioned flaws and an annoying splash damage bug. The music makes up for most of this some if you don't mind some choppiness due to engine latency and some instrument channels cutting off (and staying off) if there is a lot of sound channel usage.

    It looks like it's mine at the moment: If the current map order is final, which is unlikely, I don't know how or where I'm going to add it. By the way, I had this map originally saved as map22 and not 15, so when we start moving maps around, be sure that any replacement midis move with them. In my case, it's that Hexen piece.

    Be sure no vital areas of the map are blocked off: - Closed doors should be allowed to be reopened from the player start side. - Appropriate teleport lines should have the repeatable attribute. - Lowered or raised platforms blocking a vital area should be reverted back in some fashion. There should obviously be enough ammo for both players also.

  7. I'd say it's been quite a while since I provided an update on this map of mine. Since then, I'm getting closer to finishing it, but there are still some areas that I don't know how to incorporate with the rest of the map. I'm also worried about the gameplay being too dull. Perhaps I'm getting burned out of ideas after a year plus of working on it off and on. But I'm not giving up. I mean I finally gave it a working title. Maybe playing a little more KDiZD or something will spark my creativity some. A few new screens are provided, but these areas may not be at their final stages of development, especially the second screenshot and the highlighted areas on the one of the map.

    Taking note of the rumored difficulty issues, I began playing on HMP. So far, I'm at the beginning of Z1M3 with 200 health and 100 armor...although I'll admit I did save a few times, especially in areas I wasn't certain if falling into meant instant death or whatever. I think it's safe to assume how I felt about M1. However, I thought M2 was great-- a very nice touch to a classic with all those lighting effects and the ambient sounds (yes, that's right). I'm a bit anxious to see how M3 is going to be like after what M2 provided. Oh, and I like that data pad too.

    It's probably yet another ex-boyfriend/girlfriend dispute like the murder/suicide over at UW in Seattle a couple weeks ago...unless the video gave details of the motive of course. Some people with their perverse sense of pleasure and/or satisfaction are just plain straight-out pathetic.

    I'm curious about my map. Namely, is having that "floating skull rock" act like a switch too obscure? That can be changed if desired.

    KB & mouse issues in ZDoom

    When using ZDoom, there are very brief moments when the keyboard and the mouse stop responding. The amount of time is close to a half a second and happens at random intervals and can be annoying when in the middle of a battle. I first noticed this when using v2.0.96 and above. Other than that, I don't notice anything else occurring that's unusual. The problem doesn't seem to happen with any other programs or source ports. Whether if it's source port related or something on my side, what could be causing this?

    KB & mouse issues in ZDoom

    I do remember brief lockups at times just before those "palette changes" and when sounds are played, but these keyboard and mouse lockups occur at random. There could be no sounds currently playing, and player movements I would perform would still be interrupted periodically. As for consistently running programs, I do have some real-time protection scanners running, namely those of Windows Defender and AntiVir. I do use a USB optical mouse, but it seems that changing which USB port to use has no effect. Plus, this is a laptop, so as for the keyboard...yeah.

  17. After finishing up "Mire" for that 1-monster project, I'm finally making some progress with my tech map after first mentioning it almost a year ago. I'll admit that I almost forgot about this map. Fortunately, I found it again, began adding new areas, and fixing other areas up some i.e. removing redundant sectors and such. I still can't say how far/close I am from finishing this map. However, I can say that this would be my first major single-player map after about three years of inactivity. Screenshots (1 old, 2 new): 1 | 2 | 3 Obviously, there has been some influential inspiration by previous projects (screen #3 is a giveaway).

    The only door that shouldn't open (yet) is the one after the door blocked by a SUPPORT3 gate. As for the "snake bridge" part, you must be referring to a different map.

    I'm obviously going to work on that area I mentioned earlier. I'm also planning on adding an area behind that MARBFAC3 wall near the beginning. On top of that, I still have to apply different difficulty flags to the hell knights. Other than that, I don't have anything else planned.

    I know it's incomplete (hence the big empty ashwall cave and obviously no exit), but I'm running out of ideas and could use some feedback. http://www.geocities.com/lutarez82/wads/mire.zip What I believe may cause issues are the hanging corpse decors for they always tend to block the player's path in vanilla or prboom. I may only include them in scenery not accessible to the player if they are really a problem. Another thing I'm really concerned about is the monster and ammo placement and frequency.
