The DWmegawad Club plays: 1000 Lines 3

    Still... it's a better name than "test31".
  2. MP3 recordings of my MIDI contributions to 1000 Lines Community Project 3 (11 tracks plus 2 bonus tracks that did not make the final cut): [Dropbox Link] (74.6 MB) Alternative listening (Soundcloud):

*Peeks in* The intermission midi is mine. ;)
  4. Since Influx was very Descent-like (which was my intent) and didn't quite work with the episode theme, we've decided that using Pathfinder was a much better choice in the end.
  5. I've finally decided to and got around to sharing my original MIDI compositions. The XG collection I created using the Yamaha XG Softsynth on my old (now virtually dead) laptop from several years ago. The MP3 recordings of the XG MIDIs are a little off beat probably since I rerecorded them on the tailing edge of that laptop's life. The GM links contain my most recently completed originals including MP3 recordings using a Roland SoundCanvas soundfont (scc1t2.sf2) for playback. Note that MIDIs labeled "GS" contain a sysex reset command which enables extra GS instruments with the MS synth and may not work properly on other playback synths or devices. DBP37: AUGER;ZENITH - THE Cyberpunk MEGAWAD!

Consider yourself noticed. Crystalline works quite well in that rain map, I agree, except it is a tad quiet. I fixed volume levels on my older midis recently, so I wonder if an older version got used. Good choice. Also a few of us are left wondering (or perhaps it has been addressed earlier and I missed it) and just need to know: What is the deal with the Peter and the Wolf sounds?

Updated the zip with a few updates including the addition of "Eminence" and "Fervor".

[Megawad] Tarnsman's Projectile Hell - RCF

While doing some secret-searching, I found a softlock instead.

Thanks. Just in case some don't know, that midi uses instruments that are absent in the MS synth i.e. Rubber Bass and Doctor Solo. It will instead play Synth Bass 2 and Saw Wave which do not sound ideal in my opinion. Feel free to compare it to the recording.

@CacoDoomer Wow, that's a sweet rendition. It definitely spices up that Gradius shoot-em-up style I was aiming for. The snare is a bit quiet, but that's probably my doing to compensate for how loud the power snare is on the SC-55.

Ashtray... Heh. I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

No, this is all hobby-based with no projects in mind.

Longer one this time... I also edited the links on the FP (again) and updated/reshared the MIDI zip. MP3s are now Soundcloud-exclusive except the Yamaha XG recordings.

After some editing, I like the way these two renditions turned out.

Astray has been getting a lot of votes. Funny thing is that was one of my first getting back into midi after a few years, and it was originally made for a different soundfont. I went back later and made it compatible for MSGS/SCC1. Also, it's interesting that you favor the alternate version of Relic. Was not expecting that, actually. Also this:

Useful info. I always put metadata in my recordings, but I really never bothered with metadata in midis. Maybe I should start.

This just in. MIDI file is in here with the rest of the works as usual. The recordings are all up on Soundcloud also.
  20. MSGS seems to dislike playing overlapping notes in short sequence, so the prior note(s) completely glitch or cut out sometimes. Listen to the string part in the beginning of "Waltz of the Demons" and you'll know what I mean here. This sounds like what might be happening in that first YouTube example, and funny enough it sounds "better" because of that.

Go right ahead. Although it was not my intention to make these with Doom projects in mind (if that's the case). Then again I did make them loopable, so I suppose it works. I put a lot of effort in these, so I appreciate that. Trying to get these to sound decent on both this SC-55 soundfont I'm using and the Microsoft synth can be a real pain not to mention the lack of support for subpatch instruments. As for Soundcloud, Bandcamp, etc., the idea is still in the air. One thing preventing me from doing so is rather silly: Making or finding fitting images (covers) for each piece and not get copyright-flagged for it.
