Sensitivity doesn't matter much in doom because of autoaim, but in games like TF2 you need to set it to a low value if you want to hit anything. The crosshair just feels too jumpy otherwise.

To become good at Doom, you need to memorize the maps and do some foreplanning. To become a tournament winner at a multiplayer game, not only you need to know your moves, you also need to outsmart human players, who can and probably will adapt to your strategies. It's not even a fair comparison. Really, you don't even need to be that good at Doom to play it without saving. Claiming you need to be a super player to do that in maps you have been playing for years is just a excuse for being lazy.

You can take a high-res scan, resize it to a lower resolution with a image editing program (disable the filters !) and then touch it up a bit. That's basically how most Doom sprites were made.
