  2. Hey, I listened the first seven tracks, nice songs. In the first two, I thought the drum beat was quite modern for the title vintage, but then I realized you meant 1993 vintage, not classical orchestra vintage as I was expecting. Still, I preferred the tracks without drums, although the drum sampler was pretty good, sounded more real then the ones I'm used to hear. I noticed the original Doom songs elements, like 12 bar blues progressions, staccato strings and such. Good work.

    Hell is clearly another invention of the pharmaceutical and arms industries to sell more ammunition and medkits in order to obtain higher profits.
  4. If everything came back as Revenants, but Revenants themselves came back as Archviles, everything would turn into Archviles when resurrected twice. Oh wait you could also make Archviles be resurrected as Cyberdemons, which could come back as Zombie Troopers and start the cycle all over again.

    AD_79 the red sky looks great, it's almost like the sky is reflecting on the liquids. The first one looks like a MAPINFO error. Heh just an exaggerated way of saying I prefer the second option.

    Yep, I still have to work on that status bar, it's also unaligned by now. Maybe I should have taken the shots without it :P It uses the cultist from Blood as player sprites, but everything else is Doom. DOTW and Avoozl - :D will upload it soon.

    I think this "organized" gameplay can be great when you're playing a map for the first time, but it can get tedious when playing for a second time, as you know where everything will be. I prefer chaotic gameplay, where players have to be aware of all sides. I think it has way more replay value if combined with monster freedom of movement. Again, personal preference. By the way, I'm at MAP07 of Valiant and having lots of fun so far. I particularly liked the signs of this map and shooting targets here and there, I like when a game acknowledges it is a game. Great stuff as always, Skillsaw.

    First Map (WIP)

    I had 3 or 4 runs on this map, I didn't finish it, but loved how I was able to explore different areas on each run. As a big fan of Zelda, I loved the music and the unusual exploratory nature of this map. I didn't find any teleporter, but this is an obligatory sound replacement if you include any: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47Z9MwvTw5UObligatory I also had frame rate issues, the hub (and hexen) ideas are good, but you could consider including some impassable walls, because most areas, like the forests, didn't really need to be connected with everything else, except for cacodemons being able to fly over them. If the tree logs were impassable walls, would help a lot. Especially because there's no much height variation (which would be welcome, by the way). One suggestion that is easy to include is music changes when you get inside different areas, as in the original game. Great job, waiting for the finished version.

  18. Thanks for the feedback! Nice FDA, it was quite easy indeed. I only tested it myself, sometimes it's hard to tell what items a player will find or miss, I placed it at slot 04 because I thought it was the hardest in the set so far :P I will remove some power ups on UV, and maybe add some more monsters. But yes, I like short and easy maps :) And Demon of The Well, I forgot to mention, I considered making a MP3 version for myself, probably when the set is finished. I'll certainly share it if I do, although I'm having lots of fun writing these midis. Not to speak about filesize :) And Scifista, I never watched this movie, I stole that idea from somewhere else ;)
  19. Thanks for the feedback and FDA DOTW! Well played, you figured out the boss fight right away. New version is out, with one more map and some changes: confrariadacosta.com.br/doom/preacherv04.zip (the new map runs at slot 04) I've changed the usefail sound so the talking won't repeat when pressed multiple times, and will happen less often. I see your point that it will get old in a bigger mapset. Speaking of which, I had planned around 5 maps to this, due the filesize of the MP3s, but with MIDIs I think it could be a bigger episode, maybe ten maps. I've made 5 midis, one for titlescreen and one for each map. These are my first midis, so now people have a good reason to dislike the music. I will still work some more on them, for example, map03 track doesn't properly loop, because the program I'm using (sekaiju) decided that all instruments will be set up only on compass 2, and everything will sound like a piano on compass one. So I started all tracks at compass 2 :/ Enough with midi complaints, here are some shots of the map (MAP04 - 40 Days in the Desert): Hope you enjoy!
  20. I'm no slaughtermap player, but I was recording an fda for you, anyway. It was 3 minutes getting weapons, 5 seconds fighting, so I won't bother uploading. I think I could have a chance without those arch viles, though. I would say its still too hard, but you probably should also get an opinion from a better player then me.
  21. Hey, thanks for the feedback and fdas! Glad to hear that, that's the pace I'm trying to input since the first version, but wasn't very successful. I started this as a musical project, but since 90% of the people who played it didn't like the music, I think it's time to drop this concept. I'll write some church organ riffs in good old midi format.

    Things to do in Doom when you're bored

    true - this becomes rather evident with 3d floors. Back on topic - I used to spawn a friendly monster spawner and some monster targets at nuts.wad and watch things burn, specially if I was editing sprites, so I could see all angles in action. I also used this friendly spawn to test bosses there.
  25. Oh, I could swear I had seen a map name in the intermission screen at some port, but now I checked and it only shows in the auto map, you're right. I'll replace the names when I find a fitting font, thanks!!
