    War on Iraq?

Someone may have already said this (I couldn't be arsed to read the whole thread - yeah, I suck) but.. the president had no idea how devastating the atomic bombs would be on Japan before we dropped them. Yeah.

That was fun. Lots of you pointed out lots of things I never even thought of. Perhaps now I can once again re-evaluate my beliefs. I like doing that. It seems we'll never know how we got here or why, so in the mean time, I'm just gonna play Doom, be happy, and avoid dogmaticism. :D

I found this thingy on the coffee table that my dad printed out from his e-mail talking about how it is our fault that God doesn't protect us from terror attacks and such because we've been telling him to leave us along for so long by getting prayer and bibles banned from schools. It's probably just more Christian propaganda but it does make for a strong case. I can agree with it but only on the grounds that God is the loving and complete part of our consciousness that we seem to have lost or repressed. God is dead, and we have killed him. I don't think there should be prayer in schools, because that would be too dogmatic. I believe there should be meditation or simple moments of silence to contemplate or pray to whomever one happens to believe in, be it God, Allah, or one's Self. Unfortunately, this could probably never work without a lot of Christians making it into a big dogmatic thing, constantly using the words "God" and "prayer" and making it seem like God is actually an external, anthropomorphic deity. If only they would realize that God is us! We are God! Our consciousness is God. For centuries we've been worshipping parts of our own brain without realizing it. Religion is all metaphor. So what do you guys think?

    politics and religion

«Without order there is chaos.» We've been brainwashed by officials of religions and governments to believe that chaos is a negative thing. All things are already within chaos, only our rulers have made order out of the chaos to confine and control us with laws and rules. The truth is, nobody knows why we are here or where we are going. And as Timothy Leary said, and I'm paraphrasing here, the officials of religion and government are just trying to comfort us by making rules and regulations. And in the process, they've become ardently obsessed with power, if you ask me. «To think for yourself you must question authority.» As for my opinion of the government, I believe Pierre-Joseph Proudhon summed it up nicely : «To be governed is to be watched over, inspected, spied on, directed, legislated, regimented, closed in, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, assessed, evaluated, censored, commanded; all by creatures that have neither the right, nor wisdom, nor virtue ... To be governed means that at every move, operation, or transaction one is noted, registered, entered in a census, taxed, stamped, priced, assessed, patented, licensed, authorized, recommended, admonished, prevented, reformed, set right, corrected. Government means to be subjected to tribute, trained, ransomed, exploited, monopolized, extorted, pressured, mystified, robbed; all in the name of the public utility and the general good. Then, at the first sign of resistance or word of complaint, one is repressed, fined, despised, vexed, pursued, hustled, beaten up, garroted, imprisoned, shot, machinegunned, judged, sentenced, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed, and to cap it all, ridiculed, mocked, outraged, and dishonored. That is government, that is its justice and its morality! ... O human personality! How can it be you have cowered in such subjection for sixty centuries?» Someone said that people are too stupid to live without government. I believe that this is because we've been dumbed down by it for centuries. It is probably too late now to fix our world, but those of us who can see that there is something very wrong with it should be able to independently continue the evolution of our amazing human minds and personalities which government has tried so hard to repress.

The whole world is fucked and it's just going to keep becoming more fucked and there really isn't a whole lot we can do about it. That is all.
