Revenents and Archviles. The hardest doom enemys.

If used the right way, even a single Arch Vile can be harder than a bunch of Revenants, mainly because their attacks can go through other enemies to reach you, unlike any projectile attacks and even shotgun type attacks, which hit the first thing they come across.

    Emulators and Roms

The thing I like about ROMs is that you can play games that you would normally not be able to play. For instance, games like Terranigma and the english translation of Final Fantasy 5...

    Your DOOM projects

Since it's only the first episode, there won't be any enemies like that in it (there are no Maulotaurs in Hexen anyway, except for the Dark Servants which help you). As for the .exe, well, I use Visual C++ to change the program, which is really a .dll file JHexen uses. Because of this, I can not only radically change the behavior of enemies, but I can add new ones, as well as add new items and artifacts.

Pain Elementals by themselves aren't a problem, but combined with other enemies, they can be real trouble if you ignore them for too long.

    Your DOOM projects

I'm just about finished with the first episode of Carnage Galore III for Hexen. I hope to get it all done by the end of the month.

A scene from DOOM (name the level)

Bingo. I hate that switch trap. It's hard not to have to use a Chaos Device there.

    It is Hexen, but nope.
  8. Not that I know of, but you can use GameSpy to find some servers.

A scene from DOOM (name the level)

I don't mind using Hexen maps, or even the Deathkings expansion. The hardest part of guessing that last map was finding out what game it belonged to. Anyway... You're in a bedroom, and you see a switch on the wall nearby, along with a door that needs a key. You grab the item by the switch and then hit it. You casually turn around to leave, and you discover something very troubling right in front of you...
  10. There's still a lot of people who play oroginal deathmatch, but mostly they tend to hang around the MegaTF and CustomTF servers. But then again, I haven't been playing Quake since about February.

Now that I know it's Hexen, it should be easy. Map 05 (Guardian of Steel). More specifically, before you got the Steel Key.

Sorry... Internet problems last night. Anyway, I don't think it's any of the original maps, in which case, I have no idea which map it is.

Ok, but what about the Pain Elemntals?

You find yourself on a small spot safe from all the slime. You are surrounded by four elevators. At the top of them are numberous zombies and a few imps. At the top of the elevator to the west, you will run into a pair of harmless Pain Elementals. Where is this and why are they harmless?

    first systems

The oldest I had was the ol' Atari 2600. Those were the days...
  18. Probably the funniest thing I remember was in Heretic deathmatch. We were in a large, open map. After I picked up a Phoenix Rod, a ran around for a bit, and saw the other player waaaaayy on the other side of the map. For whatever reason, I just fired a shot in that general direction. At the time, he was nowhere near the projectile's path. I just sat there and watched as it flew on its merry way, until he ran right into the blast, not even knowing it was there. Next thing I know, my frag count increased by 1 and he was a smudge on the ground. A close second would be when I got the Wings of Wrath, I just took off and started killing people with the Elvenwand and Dragon Claw. Since they were instantaneous shot weapons (like Doom's shotgun), they couldn't see where the shots were coming from. Finally, there was this one time in Quake Team Fortress (CustomTF actually, on map Z7), where all of the red team was busy camping our team's respawn areas instead of going for our flag. We kept telling them to stop, but they wouldn't listen, and continued being idiots anyway. So instead of trying to fight them, I just walked right into their base, grabbed their flag and captured it. Since they were all in our respawns, there was no one defending their base...well, a lone sentry gun and maybe an idling engineer, and there was no resistance at all, even on the return trip. After that, we went on the offensive and their team basically fell apart as they desperately tried to set up some kind of defense. It may not be the funniest thing that happened, but it was certainly the most satisfying. Continually defeating an autoaiming sniper is just about as satisfying, if not more so.

    ASDF

The problem I have with Nimrod on Legacy 1.32 is I keep getting those strange 'segment violation' errors, and they always seem to occur on certain parts of the map. The first one I ran across was on map 2 around that room where you need the hacking device to open the door. Then from about the end of map 2 onward, just about every time I save the game, it ends up corrupted.
