  1. I'm disappointed Trump Doom didn't get an honorable mention (I never believed it would take the Mockaward). It's crazy how legitimately well designed it is. I can't blame them for not wanting to touch political satire, though.
  2. Having played it after my last post in this thread, I'm going to jump on the Ancient Aliens bandwagon. For Mockaward I'd say Trump Doom should get it. DooD and HDoom are very well done and amusing in their own ways, but TD just barely edges them out.
  3. To be honest, there ARE some poorly done sprites (like the heavy machine gun, which even painkiller admits is awful) and major bugs (until recently, the game would crash if a Spider Mastermind and Hellknight started infighting). Like with BD though, the creator is trying to improve on these, and the mod is still fun and perfectly playable in its current incarnation. BD was far from perfect when it got a Cacoward, and even now it still has some problems (like the Revenant's missile launcher being worthless, which PB thankfully fixed). I'd say it still deserves the Gameplay Mod award.
  4. Project Brutality is improving as well. There's a new version coming soon which promises to rework the gore and many of the sprites. Even in its current form, it still works amazingly well considering all the new enemies, weapons, and features it adds. It has its share of bugs, sure, but so does BD. Most importantly, it's fun.
  5. They lie rotting until the Mother Demon comes to revive them and give them a hug and a kiss before they go on their way.
  6. +1 for the Japanese Community Project. Those guys deserve more recognition. For Best Gameplay Mod, I would nominate Project Brutality, but I'm not sure if it is eligible. Can a mod of a Cacoward winnner win an award itself? I don't know if that's ever come up. As for the Espi Award, there's no contest. It's got to be Linguica.
  7. Speed, Power, and Thrash metal are my Unholy Trinity. Don't care for all the nu-fangled stuff like black and death. My favorite bands? Well, here's my by no means comprehensive list: 3 Inches of Blood, Alestorm, Body Count, DragonForce, Gamma Ray, Gwar, Hammerfall, Helloween, Jag Panzer, Judas Priest, Machinae Supremacy, Manowar, Masterplan, Megadeth, Metallica, Motorhead, Nightwish, Running Wild, Sabaton, Stratovarius, and X Japan (don't laugh, just because they look like Final Fantasy rejects doesn't mean they can't rock).
  8. Alright, just tried out V0.18 for GZDoom 1.7.1 and so far I love it, except for one thing: THE SOUNDS FOR THE SHOTGUNS AND MINIGUN ARE FAR TOO LOUD. I've had to turn down the volume so far I can barely hear anything else, just to preserve my ears. I know you worked hard to put this together, and I do love all the new stuff you put in (especially the fatalities). All I ask is that the sounds for the guns go back to what they were in V0.17. I had no problem with them then. Which version of GZDoom are you using? V0.18 is meant for version 1.7.0, which came out last Christmas.
  9. Doom II Reloaded, Doom II Redux... Doom II is turning into a movie franchise D:! J/K, Tarnsman. Look forward to trying this one out when it's done.
  10. I've tried to play Final Doom on Zandronum 1.0 for V0.17 and it BSODs on me. It works fine with Doom 2 and Ultimate Doom, as far as I can tell. Anyone else had this problem? Might it have something to do with the fact that 1.0 has discontinued the use of skulltag_data.pk3? Edit: BSOD happens with all Doom WADS, though not every time. Either I've installed Brutal Doom incorrectly or Zandronum doesn't like my computer for some reason. What is the proper way to install Brutal Doom on Zandronum? Might there be some issue with Zandronum being unable to consistently find the IWADS (they are all from Steam, so according to the instructions, there shouldn't be)?
  11. I can't imagine playing Doom without this mod (and yes, I did play classic Doom quite a bit up until the mod was released, so spare me the accusations of me being a "CoDfag!"). It takes the things I liked about it (weapons that sound and look like they have punch, tense yet frentic action, and gore) and boosted them all. As far as I'm concerned, I've seen all there is to see of what the original Doom games had to offer. Edit: I should clarify: I don't have anything against vanilla Doom. I mean, it's DOOM. It's a masterpiece in its time and a classic in this time. I get that many people here like playing the same Doom they did 20 years ago. That's not me, though. I couldn't imagine playing the exact same game for two decades. What I'm saying is, if you're not going to do new things with Doom, if you're not going to test the limits of what the engine it can do and you're just rehashing the classic Doom, then I'm not interested.
  12. Brutal Doom gets my vote for this year and for every subsequent year.
  13. You've been reported to the Department of Homeland Insecurity. Have fun at Gitmo.
  14. Okay, I just thought of some maps from Plutonia I don't like: MAP01-MAP03: I won't bother with specifics for each map, the trio in general is bad. Disorienting, boring, and difficult for the wrong reasons. A terrible start for an otherwise good wad. MAP07: This one is a bastard on UV. You have to kill Mancubi in a courtyard while troopers and chaingunners spray at you from the walls. Once you've killed them, a bunch of revenants spawn on the walls. You try to go to the lift that just opened to escape the missiles, only to find Barons of Hell. If you manage to get past them and jump into the moat, you now have to deal with Arachnotrons. While most of Plutonia's maps feel difficult, this one feels like a conga line of "Fuck you"s.
  15. Yeah, that's the only major problem I have with the new version as well. The changes made to the two enemies in previous versions were actually pretty creative (giving the Cyberdemon a grenade launcher and the Mastermind a BFG as alt fires) and added to the challenge without making them too powerful. Now? They're just ridiculous. I did like the idea of using the Mancubus' cannon and the Revenant's missle launchers, even if they aren't very useful. It reminds me of the alien arm gun from Redneck Rampage. Also, I like that the rocket launcher and plasma gun can recognize when they have a full magazine and don't still reload when you push the button. Not much effect on gameplay, it just kind of bugged me. Overall, it's still good, it's still bloody, it's still Brutal.
