Hey Dobu, just want to give a quick appreciation to your write ups in your Minor Bits blog. Pretty much all the video game writing that I vibe with are the ones written on Doomworld and the ones on your blog. Most video game blogs I run into just don't have the same insightful content & vivid, easy going (but specific and in-depth) writing to deliver it (though I don't mind recs). It helps that we have quite similar tastes in gaming hah. Cheers!

Regarding smb3: there's high chance nostalgia's got little to do with it heh. SMW & Doom were my childhood games here, and I only really played smb3 this year, but the sheer creativity really made me forget every other game for a while during my Doom "sabbatical" hah. I love the graphical, mechanical, and sonic "feel" of World a bit more, and Celeste is the tightest mechanics & setpiece wise, but I can really see why SMB3 is still held in such high esteem in the realm of 2D platformers. Pure bottled magic in small packages.
