  1. I saw two penguins in the wild a couple of days ago. They were really cute.

    I got plenty of pictures of them too. Unfortunately they just look like little blurred specks of black and white dirt (with a smudge of yellow due to their beaks). :( Still, I know they're penguins.

      I saw some kiwis here, but photos weren't allowed. They're noctural birds, so bright flashes of light would be most unwelcome.

      Keas are very common in the mountains, and they tend to congregate anywhere there are humans. You sometimes see "Don't feed the keas" notices.

      Yeah, I knew those guys were rare. Their big cousin, the Moa was killed off way back in the day. Heh...that would have been cool to see one of those. They were taller than an ostrich.
