This is so neat to watch! I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever seen Doom GBA speedruns before, but this has changed my mind. Also good luck on your runs going forward!

Your favorite WAD's to just kick back and relax playing?
K3K replied to CasualScrub's topic in Doom General Discussion
I usually go back to my WAD folder and look for bite-sized WADs like Scythe, or make some random crap with OBLIGE. If I'm looking to just chill out, I play on HNTR with free-look and etc. Sometimes If I'm feeling edgy (lol) I'll throw on fast monsters so the game isn't a snoozefest. A fun little suggestion for you guys, try playing on easy difficulties with fast monsters turned on, it really adds a new fun way to play the game without making it painfully easy. I just got done playing Doom 2 on HNTR -fast and I have to admit it made the game more enjoyable without being frustrating! -
What do you listen to when you're playing Doom?
K3K replied to BlackMetalChainsaw's topic in Doom General Discussion
If I'm playing WADs that I am already familiar with, then I usually just mute my computer and watch Netflix on my TV. -
Lol I always play with gamma correction to 1.5 or above, so I understand how you feel.

I recommend you finish it! It's so good, especially after the first few maps, the mapset really picks up the pace. One of my all time favorites.

Let me tell you about my best frieeeeeeeeeeeeend. Theo says hi! Well if he knew about this thread on DW that is... Or what a forum was... Or how to use the internet ... Hmph. Well in that case I don't think he really cares. Oh well.

Doesn't Scythe make use of this effect in one it's later levels? (I forgot exactly which level but I know that it has to do with a red/silver portal looking structure guarded by a Spider Mastermind) I think it would be really cool to see mappers make of this more! A few examples I could think of utilizing this could be in making animated billboards in cities, or warning screens on computers. Hell, or even have funny little easter egg 'gifs' in secret areas of the map or at the end of the WAD. Sort of a creative way of saying "Thanks for playing!".

That last pic is really giving off that Doom 64 vibe with the fog and everything, seems pretty cool dude. Also Fonze, (didn't want to quote a wall of text whoops) I still stand by with what I said, he really wasn't making a direct joke at Columbine the victims or the families, he literally just said ">inb4 someone makes an Eric Harris joke". That's not the same as "Haha remember those people that got killed at that school shooting back in '99?", and besides whenever someone makes a map in a shooter that resembles a school or actual establishment and etc. Not condoning making jokes about dead people, or victims of a tragedy, but he really wasn't doing that lol. It was more of a reference to the incident rather than him mocking the people involved. I didn't see anything offensive about it, if anything, I feel like it would be better off if we didn't scrutinize every little thing we say in fear of sounding offensive or making someone upset. Although I do respect the points you make, I disagree with them. tl;dr: nothing wrong with what he said in my opinion. huuuge overreaction. And almost 20 years later, the community is still here to stay!

Getting a Quake-vibe from that portal looking structure CWolf haha.

I like the theme going on here! Looks like it could be pretty fun, and the geometry and texture choice is pretty cool as well. Are their replacements for all of the weapons? I notice the AK-47 and was curious as if that was the only replacement or not. How many maps are we talking here? Woahhh, a little harsh there haha. Sure he said something that can be seen as offensive, but it wasn't like he was specifically making fun of the incident. And I don't think he was saying that's all he wanted to be known for lol, nothing wrong with having a sense of humor every now and then in my opinion.

Sooooo I've been trying to do some weird unorthodox mapping techniques lately, and the one I decided to try out is if I could make a nice level, but in a reversed construction process. Basically, I'm just gonna throw down 'things' and not construct a single sector until I feel the level has good encounters and traps (on paper), then I'll design architecture and tags and etc. I kinda wanna do this to give myself 'practice' in a way, to force myself to focus on cool encounters and challenging battles, rather than worrying about how cool the architecture looks and then designing the encounters based on the levels design. In short: map design = determined by how the things are placed, not the other way around Here's a shot to show what I'm talking about lol. I think this is weird and stupid, (the design process) but fun at the same time, because I'm purely focusing on battles and arenas the player will have to go through. And as you can see have not thrown together a single sector yet. (personally I think the void as is, looks cool heh)

I feel like I should be waiting for a jump scare to pop out at the end of the hallway.. On an unrelated note, what status bar is that? Looks comfy as heck.
