Cops in my college town are brutal. I was pulled over last night for speeding (45mph in 30) and [x] criminal infraction: failure to stay within lanes and criminal infraction [x] driving with suspended license.
The first part is bullshit, I switched lanes a couple times--that's a criminal infraction? wow.
I don't know why my license is suspended. This is the second time I've been pulled over driving with a suspended license. 10 years ago I was arrested for driving with a suspended license and for 'criminally speeding' (55 in a 25) The outcome of that was a bunch of fines.
My roommate thinks, since this isn't the first time I've been pulled over driving with a suspended license I should I get a lawyer.
EDIT: On the citation it says the following:
If "CRIMINAL APPLICATION" is checked you will be granted a hearing as to whether a criminal complaint should issue against you if you sign below and return this citation WITHIN 4 DAYS to the Clerk-Magistrate of the court named on the front of this citation. Any accompanying civil infractions will be determined during the criminal proceedings and cannot be paid in advance.
Is it in my best interest to mail it in within this 4 day period?

I am going to propose to the judge that instead of making me pay all these fines he revoke my license for 4 months.
No you idiot never propose anything, just state that you can't afford the fines and would like to arrange something alternative. Or better yet, get a lawyer who knows what he's doing.
