Rediscovered this old 30-minute speedmapping community project that never got properly released, heh
To my sheer amazement (and amusement), the link to the beta release still works, and holy fuck my map (19) is so much worse than I remember it :D

Hell's Furnace, from TNT: Revilution MAP20. Originally it was meant to open and set the tone for third episode as I had already done with MAP12 and E2, but ended up going nicely with Phobus' map.

Five Nights at Freddy's 6 came out this week (WAIT, hear me out on this one!) and I was surprised to discover that it had some pretty awesome music, particularly one accompanying the Midnight Motorist minigame.
I liked it so much, I made a MIDI transcription of it :P

I made some speedmidis (speed = 11 + 5 hours respectively) on Friday:
The Joy of Winter (02:46)
The Sea of Mystery (03:03)
-
Sea of mystery: imo the initial "build-up" silent boring as heck part is way too long, gets badass after that; although I dunno, maybe a long-ass build-up is good when actually in-game?
joy of winter: sounds kinda cheerful and dynamic, yet epic, kind of like the music in those silly boss fights in joke/terrywads (not meant as an insult, heh)
overall neat stuff 77/7 m4ke mo4r

It's the Cacoward-mentionated™ Revilution intermission theme!
So that's 3 down, 2 to go. The MAP20 theme is next on my list and then MAP18's will be done some time next year. In the meantime, I also made a playlist ^_^
-
It was a long shot imo, but Atmosphere from Revilution will be getting played on local radio this weekend!

Man, this is really cool! I wish to hear more soundtracks of yours from the radio in the future.

Today sucked, so I'm offsetting that by releasing another one of these.
This is Atmosphere, as featured in MAP31 of TNT: Revilution (Anubis by valkiriforce), and it's my personal favourite of the MIDIs I contributed to that WAD. Really happy with how this one turned out.
No video of the bass guitar here because bullshit. :|

More new old stuff. This is an orchestral piece and originally existed as a MIDI, and I intended to use it for an atmospheric exploration kind of map I was planning at the time, but as always that never happened and somehow I even lost the MIDI. Whoops?
The next three on my list are all from TNT: Revilution (including the intermission theme), so it'll be nice to come back to something that probably more than five people have ever heard before ^_^

What's the longest music track written specifically for a Doom project? Jimmy's Petrichor comes in at 9:22, but are there longer ones? Just wondering.

^ Holy hell, it does! Thats one cool long midi.
-
Good old KoD, one of my favourite midis. He's nothing to do with doom though

So, who remembers the beta of TNT: Revilution? If so, perhaps you'll also remember the ice-themed MAP32 and it's 7-minute MIDI, neither of which made it to the final release. Here is that MIDI, in its recorded form! :)

Ionian Isolation, from TNT: Revilution MAP12:
-
Hard to say with this one as it's from right back when I was starting out. When it was in TNT2 I believe the map used a Doom 64 MIDI, and so I was trying to imitate the style of Aubrey Hodges with this. Of course it sounds nothing like anything he ever did, heh, and I initially aimed for about 7-8 minutes, so because I was a noob I completely missed the mark :D
The screenshots of the map I was sent showed me not only dark grey cramped corridors, but also small outdoor sections, which I'm not sure if they survived. Being part of TNT 2 it had that gorgeous sky with the giant planet so that was really inspiring to work with, and the melodic bit at the end is based around that, while the rest was made more for those dark corridors.

I went to play the map, and saw the Wormhole area and 2 realities of the final fight. I sort of felt that this map has dobu's contribution, and it's true.
The music fits the starting "ambiance building" area very well because the map builds up the intense by having lot of decorations, such as corpses, and cramped space. Even I don't really like this style, I really appreciate the effort you put into this track.

More YT migration - here's Cry of Desperation from the Plutonia MIDI Pack:
TNT: Revilution et al. coming next!
-
Another old music track, my first contribution to the Doom community actually. If you're familiar with the Plutonia MIDI Pack and 50 Shades of Graytall, maybe you'll recognise this ^_^
Side note: This was complete pain in the arse to remake D:

(tired ranting) Jeez, I struggle for nearly two hours to get to sleep and what do I end up with? A nightmare within another fucking nightmare, in which I'm terrified by a doom map (custom monster), supposedly wake from that dream to a very convincing copy of my room, hallucinating said monster in here with me and having a mental breakdown in trying not to fall asleep again. Ugh.
It's not helped by the fact I woke up for real a few times throughout, just to add to the confusion.
Too real, not cool. I'm tired. The other maps in that WAD were cool though so that's something I guess :p

Yeah dunno why my brain settled on them, I haven't even played Heretic that much!
Specifically this WAD (it was definitely Doom, not Heretic) was like a small set of maybe four or five levels. When I finished playing I put listmaps in console and saw something like MAP00: R.I.P (this wad was by dobu so this is still quite believable :P), so I warped to that map and the fucker just rushed towards me immediately and started stabbing the doomguy repeatedly, and continued to do so after pressing esc.
That aggressive behaviour and the fact the sprite was edited to contain bits of cyan actually makes it more like something I'd do, now there's an idea, technical limitations aside...
-
Of course it's only back in the real world it becomes apparent that it's not even scary :P

If I'd known one day I'd have to actually play this, I probably would have reined it in a bit. That start is sheer brutality :( Made it to about 60% speed this evening.

Here's my MIDI for an upcoming map by a certain Midtex Wizard. Do bagpipes and tin whistles fit Doom? Probably not but tough :)
Also that's now officially a mostly-dead channel. End of an era! Just gonna use the rest of this post to quietly plug my new one.. Old stuff is on the move.
