Unfortunately streaming rates are very low, with Spotify being up to $0.004 per stream so streaming services alone don't even begin to be profitable unless you're pulling in at least a good few thousand streams per year. But for sure, Distrokid's fee is so low it doesn't really matter too much.

We held a large Plutonia Nightmare 1-life survival coop session on ZDaemon back in 2016, a lot of maps were pretty tough but 19 and 22 were absolutely insane, Ancalagon basically carried us the whole way and even then it was hours of attempts that went into those two maps alone. Kudos for tackling solo-net!

The exploits of Someone is one of my favourite running gags in the community. I spotted them doing stuff with Terraria recently, it's nice to see them branching out into other games.

Let's talk about some gems that never got the attention they deserved, or got unfairly bashed when they were released. No examples from me because I haven't played doom in forever but like some others I'm tired of 'worst this, overrated that' threads so here's a counter. More positivity, people!

Great pictures! Even got the moons of Jupiter in there. Didn't see shit here in Hertfordshire, I'd heard that the cloud was supposed to clear up by nightfall yesterday but even now there's not a single gap in the clouds. Typical! Guess I'll have to wait until 2080, I might just make it...

cw: hot takes voted for all of them because they all suck, I think 'worst iwad map' does my head in the most though. It's not quite as bad now as it was but there definitely used to be a new thread for that like every 2 weeks a couple of years ago. Shut. Up. As for the rest:

Black Forest is another Knightrider of Doom track.
-
oh, I didn't know that was a thing, sorry. I think I still used ZDoom the last time I did an ironman.

Dead on MAP05, category 2; I worked on this. Haven't played Doom in quite a while so I'm kinda happy to have just made it past map01 lol but I wish I had at least cleared the first chapter. Wireless mouse/keyboard started acting up which completely distracted me and so I made some real 5Head moves :) Highlights: * Zombie gets gibbed by an imp at the start of MAP02 * Non-berserk fist fight with a hell knight on MAP03

"Terabyte" by Jimmy D_CAVERN is frustrating, not the first time that track has come up and I don't think it's been identified yet, unfortunately I can't even think right now where else I've heard it.

I love you.

I'll be finishing my music degree this year, that's come around bloody fast, so my main goal is just getting everything for that finished up and then planning my next steps. Doom-wise it's been a dry couple of years, but hopefully Elementalism phase 1 will be out in 2021 and that's like the biggest thing I've ever worked on so I'm excited for that! There's a couple of other things I want to take care of as well, and some stuff I'm not allowed to talk about, and embarrassingly there's someone who asked me for some MIDIs like 3 years ago so hopefully I can do some work with that D: Also been considering getting into streaming music stuff; not sure if my PC is up to that challenge though.

Seeing "2021" warms my soul and fills me with optimism. I've got a good feeling about this one.
-
Ah damn, looks like I'll have to actually play Doom for once! :P

Congratulations to all the winners! Definitely glad to see the addition of a soundtrack award and a worthy inaugural winner in PRIMEVAL I feel. People always talk about quality vs quantity, but there are some artists that can deliver on both; the comparison to Hulshult is apt, they both seem to be working on everything and can just fart out professional-grade work like it's nothing. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't envious of that level of output. Right, now where's the annual Cacoward controversyfest?

Final Doom Soundtrack: 20th Anniversary Edition has been released
Eris replied to Aubrey Hodges's topic in Doom General
IMO $18 is perfectly reasonable and if I was in a more favourable position financially right now I'd happily pay above that because that soundtrack really is worth it. -
The Top 25 Most Nefarious Secret Sectors of All Time
Eris replied to NuMetalManiak's topic in Doom General
I believe he was the one that set it up. The symbol it appears on is the letters G E Z on top of each other. -
This dumpster fire of a thread holds a special place in my heart because it was in progress when I joined DW; it's among one of the first threads I saw on this site, and it's incredible. @Xaser's post about how integral carrots are to Doomworld's history? Chef kiss. Angry all-caps meltdowns? You got it. The only thing missing here is the good old [newproject] tag.

This is the kind of content I like to see on my Doomworld. Easily the best thread about ranking sector boats I've ever seen. Thank you, John Paddock.
-
meh, still better than the countless 'worst X' threads. Also vertex 423 in E1M1 is pretty rad.

Too difficult for me to get a whole list, but got a few of my easier choices down: MAP06 - Count Trakula's Castle (50 Shades of GRAYTALL) MAP07 - The Mancubian Candidate (Valiant) MAP10 - Ruins (Jenesis) (either that or Fomalhaut from THT: Threnody) MAP12 - Transduction (TNT: Revilution) MAP16 - Leave Your Sol Behind (Ancient Aliens) MAP19 - Cryosleep (Whispers of Satan) MAP22 - Acerola-Orion (Ancient Aliens) MAP24 - Tough Skin River (BTSX E1) MAP30 - God Machine (Sunlust) MAP31 - Festering Wicked Helix Sectors (Resurgence) MAP32 - Anagnorisis (Eviternity)
