  1. Hi, I went with deep water as I thought that it might make for a more interesting gameplay experience, perhaps not. I'll bow to your judgement on this one then and remove the really deep water, so how about a compromise? Revised version with shallow water :) Also for your perusal is a WIP on what might've been the replacement - you'll need CC4-TEX if you want to have a look at the WIP wad though. I'll leave that one on the backburner for future projects :) Dave PS: If I came across as a dick in my other post I do apologise, reading it back does, to me anyway, suggest that :)
  2. Hi All, Right, I've uploaded a slightly revised version of the map >>> Clicky Here <<< Regarding the deep water. Maybe my map title was too subtle. Dihydrogen Monoxide = H20 = WATER The point of the map is the deep water and as such it has to stay otherwise I might as well submit a different map. The uploaded version contains the linedefs needed to allow bots to open doors and i've also included a midi file (Magnetic Fields IV, Jean Michel-Jarre). Dave
  3. I quite like variety. I've used the zombie scientists and female troopers in a couple of my wads. They scientists were used to populate a research base and the female troopers for added variety - i don't recommend the suicide bomber zombie though as its sound file (while easily edited) is one horrendous noise!! Dave
  4. Hi, I won't be able to have a play around with Assault On UAC Base 13 until the new year as I'm away now. Assuming you've not issued the megawad then I'll take another look at the monster distribution and pick a midi :) Merry Christmas everyone, Dave
  5. Still having issues getting the map to run in ZDaemon/Odamex/Zandronum ! I saved my map into the DMR beta 2 release as MAP01 for my testing purposes. For example when trying to use ZDaemon: --------------------------- ZDaemon Fatal Error --------------------------- W_CacheLumpNum: 4294967295 >= numlumps ---------------------------Odamex: --------------------------- odalaunch message --------------------------- Usage: odalaunch.exe [/m <str>] /m, --master=<str> set alternate master server, example: /m 127.0.0.1:12345 Unexpected parameter 'D:\DOOM\Custom Wads\Deathmatch\DMR_DG93 beta 2.wad'Zandronum just launches the client and does nothing else. I am confused tbh!!! Only ZDaemon, in the GUI, appears to have a simple option to configure a local, offline, game but errors as above. Otherwise dragging the wad onto the exe of the various ports gives me the above results. Dave
  6. Hi, Here ya go :) It is small arena style map. Ideally four or less players although there are eight spawn points. It's basic and need beautification and the style might not suit, but hey, it's different!! Dihydrogen Monoxide Remember this is not a complex map and there aren't many hiding spots. NOTE: You will also require the beta 2 wad as i've snaffled some textures from there. My map currently sits is the MAP01 spot. Dave
  7. Hi all, Probably an easy answer to this..... How do I test my map in Odamex/Zandronum/ZDaemon?? I can't see anything obvious that sticks out at me tbh. Thanks, Dave
  8. Hi, Glad deep water is supported across both clients, not so good for 3D floors as they are simple enough to do and can add a lot to the level design. I'll play it safe and not use 3D floors at the moment. Dave
  9. Hi, My map is well under way and at this point I can take it in two directions, but before I pick a path I have a quick question regarding the following: Do both of these support features such as 3D Floors & Deep Water (ZDoom, D-in-H format) ? I've had a look through a good selection of the maps in the current beta release, not all the maps I admit, but from the ones I have looked at I can't see those two features being used although I have seen the use of transparent lines. Thanks, Dave
  10. Pretty no!!! Not a chance!! It should flow though, quite basic if I'm honest for what I have in mind. Dave
  11. Not submitted anything yet mate!!! I'll work on a map anyway as I'd like to have a bosh as coming up with a DM map. If you want to include it then fair enough, if not then it's more mapping experience for me :) Dave
  12. Hi all, Room for any more mappers? I wouldn't mind contributing a DM map to this one as I've never mapped for DM before. If you like what I come up then super :) Dave

    Best SNES game you've played?

I could list loads, I'm sure we all could. My top two, simply because they are the best of the best and just perfect games are: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Super Metroid Out of all the SNES games I have owned and all games since these two have never seen an equal. Amazing story telling and exploration. The sense of freedom the music and playability. Stunning games. Other games I stick up there though: Contra 3 Super Probotecter (Assault Suit Valken) Super SWIV (Firepower 2000) Alien 3 Secret of Mana Chrono Trigger Super Mario RPG Equinox Unirally (Uniracers) Batman Returns Prince of Persia Sim City Donkey Kong Country (Only the first one) Super Ghouls n Ghosts Krustys Super Fun House Super Turrican Stunt Race FX I notice some people have mentioned Gradius III - now, I am a rather massive fan of the Gradius series and as a fan of the Gradius series I can't bring myself to include it on my list. It is a good game and it is easier than the arcade version, however the greatest of the Gradius series is Vulcan Venture (Gradius II). If Konami had converted that then my list would be significantly different. On a bit of self promotion here, I did a blog for awhile about computer game music and one of the features I did was the Gradius series. If you want to have a look at my ageing and out of date blog then please do so: retrovgm.wordpress.com Anyway........... Dave out!

All SLIGE'd Up: The Sequel! Join us!

Hi folks! I see there's been a massive amount going on since I signed up!!! Anyway.... I thought I'd give a quick update on where I am with this one. asu-map11 by Phendrena, on Flickr This, as you can see, is a side by side comparison of the SLIGE map and my version of the map. I haven't populated mine yet or added secrets/traps (I hope i'm doing this right btw!!!!) Dave
  18. Corrected version with the Yellow Key available on UV uploaded - I've also tinkered with the map a little, a couple of extra enemies and stuff and made a couple of places wider to allow easier passage. Enjoy! Dave

    The Doom Confessional Booth

I love the Chainsaw!!! I can't speedmap. I've tried and even with an idea fleshed out I still end up with a square room after an hour!!! Dave
  20. Thanks for the feedback. I am not a great Doom player or a great mapper so I like maps that give me a challenge. Sure its fun to have lots of enemies and nasty traps but does every map need them? I am glad that you enjoyed my map and found it a pleasureable experience. I'm annoyed that the Yellow Key isn't there on UV - It's my own fault, i played through on easy/medium but overlooked UV - so my bad! I'll correct it and upload a revised version later on as I'm not at home right now. Thanks, Dave
  21. Thanks for the feedback! I've made the deep water areas swimmable - good idea! I've sorted the doortrak to be unpegged, i've had a look at the rock textures, but to be honest - rock alignments are a pain in the arse so i've not bothered (yeah, yeah, laaaaaazy boy). I've uploaded a complete version of my map (barring beautification and changes from feedback) ::: East of Eden Yeppers, changed the title too. It shouldn't be too hard for experienced Doomers but then, I try not to make my maps hard anyway!!! Have fun, Dave

    WCleaner - wad optimizer

WHOA!!! That's one dodgy download!!! It wants to install it's own download manager program and then wants me use the quick installation (hahaha, no thanks chum!) so that it can install all sorts of rubbish!! I think not!!! Perhaps, you should consider using a clean provider for your stuff??? On another note, thanks for the upload it's a handy utility!!! Oh, I've uploaded the file to my own Skydrive account :::: http://sdrv.ms/GCyp1P :::: It's a spam free download. I will remove it if you want though, but I don't want people getting rubbish thrown on their computers. Dave
  23. I've taken a lot from the community over the years and never really put back. So even though I've only released a couple of maps I am glad to be part of the bigger picture :)
  24. I've still got about 1/3 of the map left to so once done I'll stick the textures into the wad for you. Dave
  25. If you don't want to give feedback that's fine. Why bloat out a WIP WAD when i'd say 99% of the forum regulars have CC4-TEX anyway, and probably most the well used texture packs? If I was pulling from several sources then I would agree. Besides reusing textures from texture packs and adding a three character prefix is/could going to lead massive (hugely massive) texture duplication if WAD authors pull textures from packs and follow this rule. If it's a brand new texture that the WAD author has created then fair enough. Your reply, however well intentioned was pedantic. Dave
