  1. I'm not any better. I used to only listen to dadrock and what I considered "real" music but now I just listen to whatever I'm in the mood for which is everything but country. Kind of reminds me of this song which is more famous. Somebody told me it was a parody of those ultra-nationalist Serbian songs but I don't know enough about the culture and language to know if that's true.

    Creepy videogame music

From an amazing SNES game that was released in Europe, but not the USA.

    Super Mario World Flappy Bird

There are known bugs that allow one to cause the processor to jump to certain addresses in memory. By manipulating objects in the level and controller registers, one can set up the RAM to have arbitrary code executed when one of these bugs is carried out. For more information look at the author's commentary for any of the movies on this page. If you know a bit about programming (hex/binary, basic knowledge of assembly language and computer architecture) you should be able to get a gist of what's going on.
  4. I guess I'm one of those hipsters but I don't even like that shit. It sounds like a bunch of kindergarteners imitating The Residents.
  5. My first choice would have been crunkcore, but that's already been posted. The Shaggs are well known for being hilariously incompetent, but it has a kind of charm missing from some of the other shit I've heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxPsXPCR5MU

    Kirk or Picard?

Kirk, but only because I never watched TNG and only TOS growing up. If I were to get into it now, I would probably like Picard more.

    what religion do you believe?

I don't believe in any gods so I guess that makes me an atheist. I don't tend to proselytize, since arguments against the existence of a god(s) are as full as holes as the ones for and they never convince anybody. I'm highly skeptical of all claims of the supernatural, including religions. I used to be a Baptist, then a non-denominational Christian before going the way of that REM song.

    Arizona Election Fraud

And behind those shadowy, unnamed businessmen are the true masterminds, the real overlords of all humanity... Beta Reptilians from Alpha Centauri. They feed on our fear by calcifying our pineal glands with controlled bursts of scalar energy waves, which leads to a build up of anxiety they use to manipulate us all. The only solution is to free your mind by attenuating yourself with the natural vibration frequencies of the universe. Wake up sheeple!
  9. Holy shit, that website is like the 2010s version of flashy 90s web design.

    Realm of the Creepypasta

I like Marble Hornets but it seemed more like a mystery with paranormal elements than horror to me. Not that it doesn't have frightening moments, but a lot of the charm comes from seeing pieces of the puzzle come together, trying to figure out who totheark, Masky, Hoodie, the Operator et. al. are and what they want. The same guys who made Marble Hornets are making another series called Clear Lakes 44 on the same channel. So far I don't think there's been enough information given to piece together what it is about, but it seems to be at least set in the same universe due to the presence of an "official" website for the film Marble Hornets that went up shortly before the new series started. It has a lot of hidden pages with ARG stuff that reference Clear Lakes 44, especially the number 44 which has been recurring throughout both series.

    One Piece discussion thread

Never watched or read it, shounen's not really my cup of tea but I'll make an exception for JoJo. Is the manga still going or did it end like Naruto? I haven't kept up with this kind of stuff in forever.
  13. You seem to have some malware installed that is causing the issues. The solution is to remove it through "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" on the latest versions of Windows.

    So you think you're fast?

That upload speed is a lie. I get 1 Mbps at best upload. The ping is only low because one of the speedtest servers was like a 45-minute drive from where I am.

Sturgeon's law applies. There is some good stuff among all the crap, you just really have to dig to get it.

The Lovecraftian band from the previous page reminded me of these guys. Some classic psychedelic rock.

    The present moment

*hits bong* I think it's impossible to think about the present because by the time you realize you're thinking about the present, what you're actually thinking about is already in the past. Either that, or you're thinking about the "present" when you really mean the near future. In fact the present may not exist at all, or not be something that is measurable. Think about the past and present as two regions that meet at a single point, but that point is not something that is real. But then I realize that the division of time into past and present is completely arbitrary and only makes sense because of the way we, as humans, experience time. In fact it doesn't make any sense to think as time as a sequence of instants, where some instants can be assigned the label "past" and others "present." Instead, I think it makes the most sense to view time as something like (continuous) space, as a thing that exists all at once. Relativity makes me even more confused. There it may not be possible to assign an order to two events that are far enough apart, as a consequence of the relativity of simultaneity.

Keith Emerson of ELP dead at 71

Welcome back my friend, to the show that never ends... Every time I check this forum there's always another obituary. This time it's somebody whose music I liked, so I'm commenting on it. Rest in piece...

It sounds like (doom/stoner) metal-influenced punk, so a little of both.

    The Bad Boxart Challenge

The entire Chou Aniki series counts. First we have "Legend of the Holy Protein:" http://imgur.com/U3tcZlb Here is "Token of a Man's Soul:" http://imgur.com/iWgrCDi That's enough homoeroticism for this thread. Now on to "The Girl from Gunma Prefecture," which I just found through Google: http://imgur.com/yM5GtoN Here is some weird GTA bootleg with Arabic (or maybe Persian) on the cover. This might be a photoshop though: http://imgur.com/138b52a

    Remote Desktop Software?

SSH on Windows works fine if you install Cygwin or even just use PuTTY. I can even get XWin port forwarding working through Cygwin. The only thing I've had problems with are getting private keys working.
  22. Any type of sandbox game. Minecraft, GTA, Garry's Mod, Terraria, etc. I'd recommend GTA for mild drunkenness and Garry's Mod for full-blown shitfaced-ery. Really bad games are good to laugh at when sloshed. Even Desert Bus becomes fun for about 15 minutes and shit like the CD-i games become comedy gold.

That was a great BLYAAAAAAAAAAAAT at the end.

Great Games no one ever heard of!

The first one is pretty much impossible without spending tens of hours on trial and hour or with a walkthrough in front of you. Despite this the actual game can beaten in a couple of hours. The second one is one of the most unintentionally hilarious thing I've ever seen. They took the Mike Dawson character without permission from the real life Mike Dawson and turned him into an unemployed nutjob who lives with his mother. For some other "classic" point-and-click games in the same style, there's Harvester and Phantasmagoria.
  25. How about a flying chaingunner with the abilities of the arch-vile and pain elemental and the health of a cyberdemon? I'll call him Steve.
