First Doom fan site(s) you ever found?

Doomworld or Doom Wad Station, in June 2008 when Doom Rickroller was popular. Thanks to that wad Doom began part of my lifestyle.

    What are you listening to?

I saw the cool graffiti logo on Nevanos' Twitch page and been listening to good old electro for the whole day.
  3. Heretic stuff from this week. I am getting faster and in theory could try an actual speed mapping, but I don't know. I keep getting further when I have multiple GZDoom Builders open: one with HERETIC.wad for copying ideas and other one for redrawing them my way. And I'm looking for doing maps for Heretic the style Raven did, not my unique one :D

    Share Your Sprites!

Is it based on some other sprites or did you make it from scratch? Looks good!

How does one make high quality sprites

Hmm. I suggest people take a look at Cage's spriting videos. He has useful commentary on his videos.

[New HERETIC map] Village of Rotten Bones

Cool map! Played it on Smite-Meister difficulty level and beat it in 46 minutes with save states, because I died few times at no-save attempts. Secrets were quite hard(?) and I found only 4/11. Neat map, maybe a bit long for my taste or maybe I played it too carefully, I don't know. No bugs happened when I played it on GZDoom v. I'm sorry if I couldn't give enough feedback yet, I'm a bit tired.

Post Your Doom Picture (Part 2)

Yes. If I remember correctly, I bought the sealed copy first and then the other box. I feel a bit bad for it, because I'm not a hoarder. :<

Post Your Doom Picture (Part 2)

I went to my parents house couple of days ago and picked up my old, essential Doom collection from there. Too bad, that these were stored in closet next to small bag of incense sticks, but I haven't smelled anything yet.
  9. Can't say if it's a true gem, but one of my favorite point-and-click game ever. Scratches: Director's Cut is awesome also in same genre.

How does one make high quality sprites

I apologize for my previous post; it is not a great way to approach thread by saying, that editing and creating sprites is awful and annoying. Sorry. I have just started making sprites again after 5 month break and at the same time such an interesting thread appear and I can't say anything reasonable. :P ETTiNGRiNDER also posted very useful stuff! (how do I quote forum member @ -style?) I decided to share one of my technique I use in Grafx2 to contribute something to the thread. Also I share intimate image of my Doom I intermission screen work-flow from 2016 to 2018 (I've worked inside that image quite long), which includes a lot of embarrassing stuff. Hopefully it'll give you something !

It is hard to make great sprites indeed. My go-to choice is to make sprites from 3D models. You can download Blender and sculpting tool for it and start to mess around. Here is example of my Heretic monster wip. I don't think it is "high quality", but I'm also trying among many others to get "there" and it is awfully annoying trial and error task, because experience is impossible get with out doing things. I also use a lot of Grafx2 for pixel level editing.
  12. I had in mind today to "counterfeit" starting area of E3M6 - The Halls of Fear, but it turned out different. I could say tons of things about misaligned textures etc, but this image is to reassure my mind. And yes, I am trying to learn make believable vanilla-aesthetic maps for Heretic. :)

Post Your Doom Picture (Part 2)

Weirdest thing I've done in Heretic, probably: leading Maulotaur all the way back to the starting room (E3M7). Fortunately he stayed there for the rest of map. Neat thing to keep in mind for mapping purposes.
