    -accidentally setting a linedef to move a floor instead of a ceiling, then wondering why my traps won't open -see something epically cool in a map, want to try to sorta reproduce it and it falls extremely flat -placing dynamic lights one on top of the other is actual torture -losing track of tags -realize a sector with void areas attached is a millimeter off center and can't easily move it -balancing. dear. god. -set a decoration to only show up at a certain skill cuz you placed it in the middle of your monster/health/balancing placement

    What Video Game Are You Currently Playing?

    The Wolf Among Us, I'm a sucker for choice-based RPGs and this one is absolutely awesome. The art style has that gritty 80's noire aesthetic and the story is a never-ending twisting and turning joyride. Plus, Bigby is a pretty good-looking dude.

    Okay, this should hopefully be a little bit more vanilla friendly. I don't have a plain old doom2.exe to test with so there may be something I missed, but I changed format to vanilla Doom 2 so should hopefully be all vanilla actions.   7. I ask this because I've had several experiences where people will either make maps with mods in mind, or testers will use mods to test maps and/or use on regular play. I've always been a big believer in (somewhat) vanilla so I've never tested with mods, but I've noticed some mods can break scripting and cause other issues. So, do you fix maps for mods, or tell people to nix mods to play your maps? Is it something that should be considered?

    I'll probably be doing a video series (not a stream) on Eagle soon if it's ready now. Just had a lot of people at my house lately so it's been difficult to record. Hopefully will be able to do it next week.

  12. got some clothes, candy, and hair products and not much else (although my parents did just buy a house for us so I can't fault them for that). however my boyfriend got me the start to my pc build- a pretty badass looking Rosewill tempered glass case with fans preinstalled. That thang is 23 lbs though- definitely not the easiest thing to lug around. but it's the one I wanted and the one I got. I also got The Wolf Among Us and am mad at myself for not playing it earlier.

    The Joy of Mapping 6: JOY ETERNAL - BETA 3 RELEASED!

    Day 1: a general layout and light crying Day 2: ???? Day 3: Everything feels beautiful and the cacos are hissing a chorus seriously, what an awesome and fun 3 days though! I've spent most of my mapping days this year doing stuff with fancy texturing, lights, and scripting, so to go back to relative basics was a refreshing experience. Thank you Jimmy for doing such an awesome job making all 72 maps play nice with each other and giving us feedback to help us along. Can't wait for the next session!

  15. Welcome to Near Death Experiences, a community project that aims to explore people's thoughts and views on death and dying. Someone asked me how this could be emulated in Doom, and he said, "Every beginning has an end, and it's our responsibility to make life as good as we can for ourselves and others. I can't think of a map for that, can you?" Well, think back to the very first episode of Doom. We slog through endless hoards of demons, and as we step into the teleporter after defeating the Barons, we think, "wow, I did a really good thing killing all those demons!" But, what's our reward? Another room of demons, surrounding us, tearing away at us before we are resigned to death. Regardless of our good deeds, our beginnings, we must meet our end. First things first, this is obviously a very heavy subject, so some disturbing content may make its way into the Discord and even the project. Keep that in mind before proceeding to the Discord or signing up for the project. Excessive gore, however, will not be tolerated. The rules of the project: 1. No Terry / troll / joke maps. I don't need to explain why this is a rule. 2. You are free to use whatever textures and monsters you like, but please ensure that you remove unused textures before submitting your map. If you don't know how to do this, there's Google and there will also be tutors on the Discord. This makes compiling smoother and keeps file size down. 3. No using copyrighted music. Period. There's TONS of royalty free music out there, and other sources that are not copyrighted. If you aren't sure, ask around. 4. Anything that is not yours that is used in the map (besides IWAD resources) should be put in your credits. 5. Please submit a text file with your submissions. This helps everyone, myself especially, when it comes time to playtest or compile. There is a text file template on the Doom wiki that shows the preferred format. 6. All maps should be UDMF format. This project will require a non-traditional approach, so this is to prevent anyone from limiting themselves on what they can do. 7. This is a mapset mostly focused on single-player gameplay, but if you so feel the need, you may add co-op or deathmatch starts to your map. However, multiplayer gameplay should not be the focus. 8. You may work with another person on your maps if you would like, however, please let me know ahead of time if that is the case so I can ensure everyone is credited properly. 9. All maps should be balanced for a pistol start, as there will be a hub map involved so players can choose their own way of experiencing everyone's maps. This mapping project started in August. I've been busy so I haven't been mapping much, and interest has been low, but I've got some fresh faces in and would love some more. I'm bumping the project due date back to sometime near the beginning of 2019, but I would like to try to get this published by May. However, this isn't hard and fast, I'm flexible if needs dictate. There are 32 map slots, but I'll add more if interest is high enough.     Heh, thanks for the feedback! The inspiration for this map is actually loosely based on Portal 2- I wanted to give the feeling of clean and detached rather than flow-through. Yeah, that orange hallway I had no idea what to do with, it's probably my least favorite part of the map but I wasn't sure how to fix it. So... lights everywhere. :P

    An Introduction Thread

    Hello and welcome! as far as TNT goes, you may want to start out playing it just vanilla first- it's notoriously difficult. Complex, as you've probably found out, ups the monsters' attack damages, I'm unsure if it adds to the monster count but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. But hey, it's up to you- if you can beat it that way, go for it! I can tell you from my experience with the Doom community (at least here), we're a pretty passionate bunch. I've always enjoyed checking the forums each day for different questions and theories that pop up about different things, and if you want to create things, there's a lot of support to be found. I hope you come to enjoy your time here and stick around a while! :D

    I had raised my eyebrows when I read everything in the text file, but I really enjoyed this! It's totally adorable, all the assets were obviously hand-made with love, and the puppy is wonderful :) Just wish it was longer! I hope you do some more with this, it's definitely a welcome break. Maybe add some menu assets to really sell the idea.
