    As stated in the tweet, I've had an absolute blast this time around (even with mister Bridge constantly stealing my mapping partner for Supercharge updates ;P ) I hope we can continue this tradition for a while, it's been incredible to watch what amazing things people create when they work together.     [WIP] Dancing in the Abyss

    After a couple months of on and off development, I'm now feeling committed enough to post up my first multi-map serious project, entitled "Dancing in the Abyss". It's a map set roughly inspired by the likes of @Bridgeburner56's Slaughter Spectrum and Insane Gazebo's Sunder. The maps are large, slaughter type maps, set in void-like spaces. More details can be found in this spreadsheet, as well as an FAQ. I'm still currently looking for music, mostly Irish-folk in nature. I have a map currently available for testing, MAP07, Tending the Flames. It's still a bit rough around the edges, and the asset pack is also in rough shape, but I'll be refining everything in the coming months.     What are your objectives for 2020? (Doom Edition)

    Main goals are to finish work on Dancing in the Abyss and Near Death Experiences, quite keen to have both released and see what yall think :) Biggest overarching goal though: keep an open mind, and keep learning.

    it's been a few months since I've last updated, but rest assured for all it's still very much a thing.   7. Welcome to Near Death Experiences, a community project that aims to explore people's thoughts and views on death and dying. Someone asked me how this could be emulated in Doom, and he said, "Every beginning has an end, and it's our responsibility to make life as good as we can for ourselves and others. I can't think of a map for that, can you?" Well, think back to the very first episode of Doom. We slog through endless hoards of demons, and as we step into the teleporter after defeating the Barons, we think, "wow, I did a really good thing killing all those demons!" But, what's our reward? Another room of demons, surrounding us, tearing away at us before we are resigned to death. Regardless of our good deeds, our beginnings, we must meet our end. First things first, this is obviously a very heavy subject, so some disturbing content may make its way into the Discord and even the project. Keep that in mind before proceeding to the Discord or signing up for the project. Excessive gore, however, will not be tolerated. The rules of the project: 1. No joke maps. We're adults here. 2. Any custom textures or resources are allowed, so long as permission is there to use them and credit is placed in your text file. Any unused textures or resources should be removed from your WAD before submission. Slade is a decent tool for this, but will not do everything, so please carefully proof your resources. 3. Custom music in pretty much any format is allowed, so long as the music is not copyrighted. 4. Please submit a text file with your WAD, in order to ensure proper credit and any important information on gameplay. 5. All maps should be in UDMF format, but this can be worked around if necessary. Please let me know in advance if you use a different format so I can plan ahead. 6. Maps should be built around single-play experience. Deathmatch and coop starts can be added but I won't require them. 7. Cooperative mapping is fine, please let me know if that's what you're doing and who you're working with. 8. Maps should be playable from pistol start- there will be a hub map that the player will be returned to at the end of each experience. This mapping project started in August. I've been busy so I haven't been mapping much, and interest has been low, but I've got some fresh faces in and would love some more. There is no longer a set deadline for this project- the nature of this project requires everyone to come in and finish when they're ready, not on a set date. There are 32 map slots, but I'll add more if interest is high enough.     It was an honor to have the opportunity to write for you guys again this year! It warms my heart to see the community come together each year this way, and more so to be a part of it. Our winners- and even those who didn't win, but still continue to create- are what keeps Doom alive. 26 years later and here we all are! I look forward to what the coming year brings. Keep creating, keep being passionate, keep ripping and tearing!

  11. Sometimes a fresh set of textures can enhance simple geometry to look detailed. I have gotten a lot of use out of OTEX, and OTEX does have textures comparable to vanilla (even has some STARTAN-type textures!). The hi-res gives extra dimension to maps, I feel.

    The Arrival. Took a bit to get into it but my god, the ending was incredibly full of emotion. Highly recommend.

Definition (thanks @Linguica): Gaming disorder is characterized by a pattern of persistent or recurrent gaming behaviour (‘digital gaming’ or ‘video-gaming’), which may be online (i.e., over the internet) or offline, manifested by: 1) impaired control over gaming (e.g., onset, frequency, intensity, duration, termination, context); 2) increasing priority given to gaming to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other life interests and daily activities; and 3) continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences. The behaviour pattern is of sufficient severity to result in significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational or other important areas of functioning. The pattern of gaming behaviour may be continuous or episodic and recurrent. The gaming behaviour and other features are normally evident over a period of at least 12 months in order for a diagnosis to be assigned, although the required duration may be shortened if all diagnostic requirements are met and symptoms are severe. I'd like to hear y'alls opinion on this.

    hey, thanks for the feedback! I may go ahead and add in a RL secret or at least more ammo. as for the exit.... will probably add an arrow or a blinking light. will also have to fix the switch issue- i didn't quite plan that as great as i should.
